Bill Boyd And His Cowboy Ramblers

"Van Buren"

Bluebird B-6959

May 19, 1937

Cecil Brower is fiddler?

Studio was the Dallas Athletic Club Rooms in Dallas, Texas?

I suspect the name of the tune comes from the town Van Buren in Arkansas (in other words, the tune is NOT named after the Dutch president of the United States who served one term after Andrew Jackson). Jesse Lee Shibley was one country artist who lived in Van Buren, Arkansas.

The Cowboy Ramblers around this time may have included Curly Perrin on vocal and guitar, Bill and Jim Boyd on guitar and bass respectively, Lefty Perkins playing steel guitar, Carroll Hubbard (of W. Lee O'Daniel and His Hillbilly Boys) on fiddle, Kenneth Pitts on fiddle, and John "Knocky" Parker on piano.
