00:03 Hi, everyone, and welcome to today's episode
00:05 in which we'll show you some exciting gameplay
00:08 from Top Spin 2K25.
00:10 My name is Rémi Ercolani.
00:11 I'm the game director.
00:13 And alongside me--
00:14 Hello, I'm Jesse Scott, an associate principal designer
00:17 on Top Spin 2K25.
00:19 Let's take a first look at Top Spin 2K25's gameplay.
00:23 And for that, we'll go to exhibition mode.
00:25 You can play singles or doubles matches,
00:28 and then you get to select your players.
00:30 As you can see, in pure Top Spin tradition,
00:33 we have a mix of today's top players,
00:35 like Carlos Alcaraz or Igor Svantek,
00:38 and legends of the game, such as Serena Williams, Andre Agassi,
00:41 or Roger Federer.
00:43 For our first match, we're going to have Roger Federer
00:46 take on Daniel Medvedev.
00:49 The next step is picking a venue.
00:51 There are 48 venues available in the game,
00:54 including all four Grand Slams and all nine ATP Masters 1000,
00:59 which we're pretty excited about.
01:01 Let's go to Indian Wells in sunny California for this match.
01:04 It's a beautiful day, and the crowd
01:06 is ready to enjoy great action on the court.
01:09 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Tennis Paradise
01:11 for this exhibition match.
01:13 One of the first things you'll notice
01:15 is the overall visual quality of both the venues and players.
01:18 You can see how faithfully the venue is rendered
01:20 and how it captures all the details that
01:21 make this venue and every venue in the game
01:24 really unique.
01:25 Now we're taking a look at the player introduction sequence,
01:27 where they walk through the tunnel,
01:28 and they enter the court, and then
01:30 get cheered on by the crowd.
01:31 And without further ado, let's welcome the players.
01:37 OK, let's get this match started.
01:46 As you can see, Top Spin continues
01:48 to set the bar in terms of animation quality in tennis
01:51 games.
01:51 Top Spin 2K25 is reusing the core gameplay and animation
01:55 Top Spin 4 players are familiar with and love,
01:58 and we've done a number of improvements
02:00 to make it look and feel even better.
02:03 To name a few of these improvements,
02:04 we've added new signature styles.
02:06 You can see, for example, that both Federer and Medvedev
02:10 have their own custom forehand, backhand, and serve
02:14 animations.
02:15 For Federer, we even had the privilege
02:17 of recording his own animations with him
02:19 during a motion capture session.
02:21 And these are just a few examples.
02:23 We have a lot of other styles that you'll
02:25 discover when the game comes out,
02:26 and we'll continue to add more every season
02:28 after the game launches.
02:30 One thing you might have noticed is
02:31 that we've added a new timing meter to help
02:33 understand how timing works, and to clearly show
02:36 when the best time is to release the shot button,
02:38 to hit your shots with perfect timing,
02:40 giving them maximum power and precision.
02:43 Another noticeable upgrade in this game is how serving works.
02:47 We've left the serve mechanic from Top Spin 4 behind
02:50 and implemented a new one, which we think better
02:52 simulates what it feels like to serve in tennis.
02:54 We'll let John McEnroe tell you all about it in the Top Spin
02:57 Academy, which is the section of the game
02:58 where you can learn everything about gameplay and tennis
03:01 in general.
03:01 Great work.
03:03 A final area of improvements from Top Spin 4
03:05 that we want to call out today and we think you'll really
03:08 enjoy is that we've made a number of changes
03:11 to make the rallies shorter, more dynamic, and harder fought.
03:16 For example, perfectly timed shots
03:18 have a bit more angle and power, making
03:21 it easier to hit winners.
03:23 But the flip side of that is that power shots, those
03:26 you hit after a long press and hold,
03:28 are more likely to go out or in the net
03:30 if they're not timed properly.
03:32 We think this change helps make the game feel
03:34 more realistic and fun to play, and we can't wait
03:36 to hear your feedback on that.
03:39 OK, now let's start another match.
03:42 This time, we're going to play a match with Serena Williams
03:45 versus Iga Svantec.
03:47 And we're going to play on clay in Roland Garros.
03:50 Here again, you can see the visual quality
03:56 of the venue with the crowd, the ball boys and girls,
04:01 the line judges, the camera crew around the court,
04:05 and every detail that captures the essence of Cours
04:08 Philippe Châtelier.
04:10 During the previous match, we mentioned
04:12 how important it has been adding new signature styles
04:14 so that players are as unique as possible in the way they move
04:17 and hit the ball.
04:18 You can see here that both Serena and Iga
04:20 use custom animations for some of their swings,
04:23 and we really wanted to bring that variety
04:24 to both male and female players.
04:26 That is true for pros as well as for the my players
04:29 you'll create.
04:30 Now let's just watch and enjoy for a moment.
04:32 [BALL BOUNCING]
04:35 [CROWD CHEERING]
04:41 Williams.
04:43 We're playing this match in Roland Garros,
04:45 which is the only Grand Slam tournament played on clay.
04:48 You can see that players have clay-specific animations
04:50 when they slide to hit the ball or after a point.
04:54 Running and sliding on clay leaves
04:55 marks that make the court change visually over time.
04:58 At the beginning of a new set, the court is swept
05:00 and looks completely clean again.
05:02 This is the attention to detail the Topspin franchise
05:05 is famous for, and Topspin 2K25 pushes the visual quality
05:09 to the next level.
05:10 All right, we're going to end it here for today's episode.
05:13 [BALL BOUNCING]
05:15 We hope you enjoyed it, and we really
05:17 can't wait for everyone to be able to play the game.
05:19 Remember, we have plenty more to share with you very soon,
05:23 so stay tuned for more exciting information about Topspin 2K25.
05:27 Thanks, everyone.
