00:00 We want to continue hosting people in private houses, which I think is going to continue
00:10 to be a need. With the illegal migration act there are going to be more and more people
00:13 in limbo, so we continue to need hosts. And we need hosts who can offer a few months.
00:19 We do have quite a lot who can offer a couple of weeks, and those are really, really helpful,
00:24 but we also need people who, if all goes well, are prepared to commit. We've got some people
00:29 at six, nine months. And those places, as people have more complex needs and more complex
00:36 situations, those places are going to become even more important.
00:41 Although Romy has said the Welsh Government have made efforts to move forward with Nation
00:45 of Sanctuary plans, she says she wants to make sure they stay focused on that, and will
00:49 do what they can to keep the Welsh Government in line with their plans. The Welsh Government
00:55 have said the number of times that they are committed to the plans.
00:58 Those places, as people have more complex needs and more complex situations, those places
01:02 are going to become even more important. We also need to work with partners to keep on
01:09 making sure that Welsh Government is really sticking to their commitments, and at the
01:12 moment they're revisiting their commitments to try to work out the practical steps and
01:17 put actions behind the rhetoric, which is really important.
01:24 Romy says it's not just the refugees that benefit from the Nation of Sanctuary plans.
01:28 She says that Wales also benefits massively purely from having a wider range of cultures
01:32 present within the country, being diverse and welcoming, and adding to the society in
01:38 Wales.
01:39 If you let people contribute, migration is a healthy thing for a nation, particularly
01:44 a small one. And we are enriched by the skills that people bring when they come to Wales,
01:52 and we should encourage those and celebrate the use of those and the right to work.
01:55 to work.
