Arles is located on the Rhone River in the Provence region (southern France). It is famous for having inspired Van Gogh's paintings, which influenced contemporary art on display at the Fondation Vincent Van Gogh. Once the provincial capital of ancient Rome, Arles is also known for numerous vestiges linked to Roman domination, including the 'Amphitheatre, where theatrical shows, concerts and bullfights are held.
