00:32 President Bongbong Marcos said in a statement on Wednesday

00:36 that the Philippines has countermeasures to be implemented,

00:39 like Executive Order No. 57.

00:41 This is part and parcel of the responses and countermeasures that the President has directed.

00:49 Because many of our countrymen thought that our countermeasures are purely military.

00:56 No, the measures cover multi-dimensions.

01:01 Jonathan Malaya, the spokesperson of the National Security Council,

01:05 said that the countermeasures that will be implemented in the West Philippine Sea

01:08 include strengthening military defense capabilities,

01:11 including maritime domain awareness and strengthening the National Maritime Council,

01:17 and finding solutions through diplomacy and negotiation.

01:21 In the EO 57, the National Maritime Council,

01:24 which was formerly called the National Coast Watch Council,

01:26 is formed by the police, which is in charge of coordination,

01:30 and will recommend to the President the improvement of maritime domain awareness and security.

01:34 It will also cover all maritime territories of the Philippines, from Luzon to Mindanao.

01:39 China has insisted that any other police or order issued by the Philippines

01:43 will not affect their sovereignty and maritime rights.

01:48 In the opinion of the former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio,

01:52 if the Philippines wants to stop the clinging of China within our exclusive economic zone,

01:59 the strengthening of the military capabilities of the country should be prioritized.

02:04 Countries that failed to strengthen, to develop a credible self-defense force,

02:10 were eventually erased from the map.

02:13 We will get all of that. The 9-dash line will become the national boundary of China.

02:28 The former spokesperson of Duterte, Attorney Harry Roque, said first

02:32 that the two leaders agreed when Duterte was still in office in 2016

02:37 that the Philippines should not do anything to fix the BRP Sierra Madre that is in a bad shape.

02:44 The NSC also said that if there is a real agreement, the President is already reviving it.

02:50 According to Carpio and the former Supreme Court Justice and Solicitor General Francis Hardeleza,

02:55 it is right that Marcos should not continue this agreement.
