00:43 It's always the makeup.
00:44 If she's not beautiful, she stays home.
00:47 She'll be here.
00:48 And she's got a great story.
00:51 Yeah, well, we have rules.

01:13 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:16 Excellent, Chris.
01:18 It is time to begin my tale.
01:21 So what's the get up?
01:23 Sit down, you geek.
01:25 I'm doing this for a fact.
01:26 Sorry.
01:28 My tale is one of woe.
01:31 It has been told around many campfires.
01:35 I am here to tell the one true version.
01:39 First, I will need some help with the midnight dust.
01:48 I got it.
01:49 Go for it.
01:52 Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society,
01:58 I call this story, Tale of the Prom Queen.
02:05 [MUSIC PLAYING]

04:06 Whoa, Joe.
04:07 We're not ghosts.
04:08 Relax.
04:11 Then again, maybe we are.
04:13 Ever seen Night of the Living Dead?
04:16 Oh, back off, champ.
04:18 You guys always hang around graveyards and scare people?
04:21 Hey, we're just having a goof.
04:24 I'm Greg.
04:25 This is Jam.
04:26 We didn't mean to scare you.
04:27 Sure we did.
04:29 No harm done, right?
04:32 What's your name?
04:34 Dee Dee.
04:35 What are you doing here by yourself?
04:37 Bringing flowers to a grave.
04:39 Or maybe looking for ghosts, like us.
04:45 What's the matter?
04:46 Can't wait for Halloween?
04:50 Forget Halloween, my dear.
04:54 Saturday night's prom night.
04:58 The night of the prom queen.
05:01 Prom queen?
05:03 You don't know the story of the prom queen?
05:06 Uh, no.
05:07 Don't you live around here?
05:09 I used to.
05:10 I'm just visiting.
05:11 Oh, well, it's an old story.
05:13 They say that--
05:14 Oh, let me tell it.
05:15 I tell it best.
05:16 It happened a long time ago.
05:23 On prom night.
05:29 A girl was waiting here by the gates for a date to pick her up.
05:35 She was all set to go, wearing her prom dress and everything.
05:42 But it was a foggy night.
05:45 Truly fog.
05:47 The kind where you can't see cars coming till it's too late.
05:53 So there she was, waiting in the fog, when a car came ripping around the corner.
06:01 Some say that the driver was bombed.
06:05 Because he took the turn too wide.
06:08 He bounced over the curb.
06:10 And he hit her.
06:12 It's back!
06:13 And the slime just drove off.
06:18 Didn't even realize what he'd done.
06:21 They found her the next morning.
06:27 And a couple of days later, they buried her.
06:33 In her prom dress.
06:36 That's awful.
06:39 That's not the best part.
06:41 It gets better.
06:43 Oh, yeah.
06:44 Every year on prom night, the ghost of the girl comes back.
06:50 People have seen her by the gates.
06:54 Still waiting for the ride that never comes.
07:00 And we're gonna see if it's true.
07:03 Really?
07:07 We've been looking for a grave that might be hers.
07:10 Kind of juvenile, huh?
07:13 I don't know. Sounds kind of cool.
07:17 You want to help?
07:19 It's a big cemetery.
07:21 Come on. Greg thinks you're a babe.
07:30 Oh, what's wrong with you?
07:32 Sure. Why not?
07:35 Sounds kind of creepy.
07:37 Excellent.
07:38 Let's go ghost hunting, boys and ghouls.
07:42 [♪♪♪]
07:45 So we didn't find her grave.
08:07 So what?
08:09 You gonna finish that?
08:11 No, I'm not.
08:13 All I'm saying is I want to find out if there really was a car accident.
08:18 This whole thing could be a waste.
08:21 Do you want the rest?
08:24 Oh, I'm not hungry.
08:26 Maybe we should go to the police.
08:28 They gotta keep a record of accidents.
08:30 Yeah, right.
08:32 Excuse me, officer.
08:34 We're doing a little bit of ghost hunting.
08:36 Could we look through all your files for the last hundred years?
08:39 No, that's a big deal.
08:41 But we could check newspapers.
08:43 Newspapers?
08:45 Yeah. If it really happened, there would have been an obituary or a story on the accident.
08:51 Excellent.
08:55 They went to the town library to scan old newspapers on microfilm.
09:07 They were 50 and worked forward,
09:09 searching for any article on a young girl in a fatal car accident.
09:14 And they found it...
09:16 in 1956.
09:19 Stop. Read that.
09:23 This is so neat. I've never seen one of these.
09:31 "Girl killed by hit-and-run on prom night."
09:35 That's it.
09:37 It happened just like you said.
09:43 Fog and all.
09:45 I love it. What's it say?
09:50 "Local girl.
09:53 "Night of May 7, 1956.
09:58 "Her name was Judy Larson.
10:04 "It really happened.
10:07 "Cool."
10:09 It says she was waiting for her boyfriend, Ricky Mitchell, to pick her up,
10:16 but Ricky's mother said that he never got the message.
10:20 Oh, no.
10:22 When Ricky heard what happened,
10:24 he got so upset that he drove his car, a 1955 Chevy,
10:29 off the Mianas River bridge.
10:31 He died, too?
10:33 They say it was an accident.
10:38 And they never found him or the car.
10:42 Excellent.
10:45 Two gruesome deaths for the price of...
10:48 What was that?
10:51 Oh, you're just getting spoofed by...
10:57 Spoofed by...
10:59 What was that?
11:03 Would you children like some tea?
11:08 Good comeback.
11:17 And you were scared to death.
11:19 Like you weren't.
11:20 That was cool.
11:21 Yeah, sure.
11:23 If you guys get so scared over an old lady,
11:26 what's going to happen when we see the ghost?
11:29 This is getting so old.
11:31 No, it's not.
11:33 It's just getting good.
11:35 I say we help Judy.
11:38 Help a ghost?
11:39 Well, yeah. According to legend,
11:41 Judy's ghost shows up every prom night,
11:43 waiting for a ride that never comes, right?
11:46 Yeah, so?
11:47 So, we just read that Ricky never picked her up
11:50 because he didn't know where he was supposed to.
11:53 Judy, I'm here.
11:55 Where's little Ricky?
11:57 Shut up, champ. What are you saying?
11:59 I'm saying we try to contact Ricky's spirit
12:02 and tell him to pick her up.
12:03 Yeah, like a saiyan.
12:05 Cool. This is getting better all the time.
12:07 Guys, you're going way too far on this.
12:10 There's really no such thing as ghosts.
12:12 My parents go to the movies on Friday.
12:14 We'll use my house.
12:16 No.
12:17 There's only one place to have it.
12:19 Where?
12:20 Meet me back here tonight and I'll show you.
12:23 Oh, a mystery.
12:25 Who knows what will happen when the lights go down?
12:29 We'll meet here, my dear.
12:31 You don't really believe all this stuff, do you?
12:41 I don't know.
12:43 It's kind of fun, though.
12:45 What do you say?
12:46 I say that you're kind of a strange person,
12:51 but I like the night.
12:53 King?
12:55 King?
13:01 That's where Ricky went over.
13:15 And they never found the car?
13:18 Yuck.
13:19 Psyche.
13:21 Let's go to the marina.
13:24 Why can't we just do this right here?
13:29 Because this isn't where it happened.
13:32 [music]
13:35 Drop the anchor.
14:00 [bell rings]
14:02 Don't we need a medium or something?
14:05 No, I think we just have to concentrate.
14:08 Let's hold hands.
14:10 I can't believe we're doing this.
14:14 Close your eyes.
14:16 Clear your minds.
14:18 Try to imagine Ricky.
14:21 Think of his picture in the newspaper.
14:27 To contact Ricky's spirit, we have to picture him.
14:31 Think of what happened that night.
14:34 Try to picture an old '55 Chevy.
14:38 See it driving onto the bridge.
14:41 Ricky's behind the wheel, and he's very upset 'cause of Judy.
14:46 Hey, you're pretty good at this.
14:48 Shh.
14:49 Concentrate.
14:51 Imagine Ricky driving.
14:56 He's very upset.
14:58 He's driving too fast.
15:01 He turns onto the bridge,
15:04 but at the last second, the car swerves.
15:07 It skids, and the Chevy crashes through the railing.
15:12 It falls, and it falls,
15:17 and it hits the river right here.
15:20 Now picture the car sitting on the bottom of the river
15:24 filled with water for years and years.
15:28 Ricky's inside.
15:31 What was that?
15:35 Concentrate. Don't open your eyes.
15:38 Keep picturing the car sitting there underwater.
15:43 Ricky's grave.
15:45 We're trying to contact the spirit of Ricky Mitchell.
15:49 Ricky Mitchell.
15:52 Do you hear us, Ricky?
15:55 What was that?
15:59 Bubbles from a fish?
16:02 Or a rusty Chevy?
16:05 If you can hear us, Ricky,
16:09 we've got a message for you.
16:14 On the night of the accident,
16:16 you were supposed to pick up Judy by the cemetery
16:20 on Weaver Street.
16:23 She's still waiting for you.
16:26 She wants you to pick her up.
16:29 This is stupid.
16:32 Whoa!
16:37 Yeah!
16:40 I broke it!

16:51 You! Put it back!
16:54 Jake! Jake!
17:10 Jake!
17:16 Do it! Do it!
17:19 He's racing!
17:22 Here it comes.
17:44 What happened?
17:47 I don't know. Maybe he ran out of gas.
17:51 That wasn't what we thought it was.
17:54 Was it?
17:56 No. It could have been a leaky water main.
17:59 It could have been a sewage pipe.
18:01 It could have been some kind of natural gas pockets.
18:04 Or a ghost taking an evening spin.
18:07 No! I don't know what it was, but it was no ghost.
18:11 How do you know?
18:14 Because there are no ghosts. Ghosts aren't real.
18:18 Well, there's one way to know for sure.
18:21 How?
18:23 Tomorrow night, the graveyard, prom night.
18:28 Be there if you dare.
18:33 [Ghostly Whispers]
18:37 Brave kids.
18:49 Stupid, but brave.
18:52 The next day, they checked the cemetery records.
18:56 Found the name...
18:59 Judy...
19:02 Larson.
19:04 The grave they were looking for.
19:07 Yes. The grave.
19:10 There she is.
19:20 Do we wait here or what?
19:23 Maybe we should split up.
19:26 We're staying together.
19:29 Let's wait down there.
19:32 We can see the road to the gate and the grave from there.
19:35 Okay.
19:38 You don't really believe all this stuff, do you?
19:52 I mean, you're just doing this for a goof, right?
19:55 I don't know.
19:58 Let's see what happens.
20:01 Does the legend say when she's coming, it's getting cold?
20:16 Midnight. It's always midnight.
20:24 Do you guys feel as stupid as I do?
20:28 Wait. Do you hear that?
20:32 What's that?
20:35 It's wind chimes.
20:39 That could be anything.
20:42 That could be the wind through the trees.
20:45 That could be something on a grave.
20:48 That could be anything.
20:51 Look.
20:54 No way.
20:57 It's her. Oh, man, it's her.
21:06 Greg, don't.

22:03 You're a dead man.
22:06 Come on, guys. It was just a goof. There aren't any real ghosts.
22:09 But last night--
22:12 Give me a break. You really think there was a ghost car driving underwater?
22:15 A lolo, anybody up there?
