00:06 13-year-old Nina was rescued from Pahang,
00:09 5-year-old Panti from Kota Tinggi and 7-year-old Pes from Perak.
00:13 Johor Perhiletan has been running the sanctuary since September 2020,
00:17 not just to provide a safe environment for wild elephants but also as a food bank for them.
00:24 We have suggested to build a corridor so that elephants can graze in the forest
00:31 and they can get more food from the banana and nepal grass.
00:38 This will make it easier for elephants to get food from the forest
00:42 and they won't have to go out to destroy the crops planted by the villagers.
00:49 We have already planned to build a sanctuary and a $8 million donation.
00:55 We hope to build a corridor so that elephants can graze in the forest.

01:16 The state government said the food bank project is aimed at reducing the number of cases
01:21 involving human-elephant conflicts which have caused losses up to RM1.1 million.
01:27 The government will build more public facilities this year
01:30 with the hope that the sanctuary will be open to the public by 2026
01:35 to educate people about the importance of wildlife conservation.
