00:00 - You're in effect tonight in the dressing room.
00:02 I gave you your instructions
00:03 and what I expect during the course of the bout.
00:05 I want you to respect the rules and each other.
00:07 I want you to protect yourself at all times.
00:09 Touch gloves, good luck to both of you.
00:11 - All about to get underway in our co-main event,
00:14 Daniel Gallo Gonzalez and Keen of the Iceman McMahon
00:19 out of Ireland, Sadiq Faruqi and Kay Lee Reese.
00:24 So glad to have you aboard Fight Night Live
00:27 and Joe Guardia's Star Boxing presents
00:30 Friday Night's Frocking Friday.
00:33 Frocking fights 46, they can't even talk.
00:35 The excitement is palpable.
00:37 Co-main event, here we go.
00:40 Keen of McMahon, a six time Irish champion,
00:47 represented Ireland in international competition.
00:51 Comes in with a record of seven and three, four wins.
00:55 Coming by way of knockout.
00:57 - I'm interested to see if he still has that amateur style,
01:01 especially having such a pedigree
01:02 and an amateur background to see
01:04 if that poses a problem to Gonzalez, which I don't think.
01:08 - He has fought some elevated competition
01:11 as of late his last fight.
01:14 Madison Square Garden lost to Jai Brown,
01:16 but he talks about the experience,
01:19 fighting MSG, the crowd, the energy, the stage.
01:23 And he has fought the likes of Jai Brown,
01:25 now 14 and two.
01:26 Anas Massoudi, Dean Sutherland,
01:29 sporting a combined record 31 and one.
01:32 And up against a very, very rigid competitor here
01:35 in Danny El Gallo Gonzalez,
01:37 former WBC Fancro Box and ABO Intercontinental Champion,
01:42 represents Puerto Rico out of Woodhaven, Queens.
01:48 Is trained by Moises Roman,
01:50 a man he credits for really turning his life around.
01:54 He now owns a boxing gym with him.
01:56 We talked about Gonzalez,
01:59 all that he went through as a child,
02:01 turning his life around,
02:02 and the platform that boxing has given him
02:04 and how he has given back.
02:06 Talked about tonight,
02:09 saying he wants to bring pressure, bring some swag.
02:12 He's got eight rounds.
02:13 So he wants to be calculated in his approach
02:15 to what his opponent has.
02:18 Wants to mix it up, right hand dominant.
02:21 - He's calculating right now.
02:24 You know, he's, his opponent's a little bit long.
02:26 So he's going to definitely have to get inside,
02:28 work the body from,
02:29 he'd be smart to work the body up,
02:31 especially being so long and so,
02:32 he likes to fight,
02:35 his opponent likes to fight from the outside,
02:36 as seen from right now.
02:37 Gonzalez working a lot of feints,
02:41 starts working those feints going from the body.
02:43 - That's what he was talking about last night,
02:46 where we had a chance to talk to him,
02:47 talking about his opponent, saying,
02:48 look, he's going to be aggressive.
02:50 He is taller.
02:51 I'm going to have to go to the body.
02:52 Set of counters.
02:54 Said he had a really good training camp.
02:57 It's a game of patience with an eight round fight.
02:59 Says his power,
03:03 if everything goes right,
03:04 he's going to wear them out.
03:04 And he wouldn't be surprised
03:06 if he scores a knockdown or two here tonight.
03:09 As you see the,
03:10 the high disparity in the almost quasi wrestling match
03:13 taking place there as El Gaiya
03:15 almost picking up the Iceman.
03:17 - Yeah, he's going to have to chop that ice tree down
03:20 a little bit, it seems.
03:21 - Time winds down here.
03:23 - I'm feeling outround.
03:25 Feeling out round for sure for both of them.
03:27 - That'll do it for round number one.
03:33 We'll be back for the second frame on Fight Night Live.

05:38 - We're back here at the Paramount Theater,
05:40 round two between Keenan McMahon of the Iceman
05:43 and Danny Gonzalez, they call him El Gallo.
05:45 Now, Kaylee, you have great familiarity
05:48 with not only the style that Gonzalez brings,
05:51 but maybe some of the evolution of his boxing style,
05:56 his attack over the last few years.
05:58 What can you tell us about what you've seen
06:00 in terms of an overall progression
06:02 of what we're seeing out of him here tonight?
06:04 - You know, he's actually a lot more calm.
06:06 You know, he has a tendency to come straight in
06:08 and come right out of the gate, guns a blazing,
06:11 but I feel like he has a solid vision
06:14 of what his game plan's going to be,
06:15 especially against this type of opponent.
06:17 You know, I see him relaxing a little bit more.
06:19 You know, you have eight rounds in there.
06:21 You might have a game plan thinking
06:22 that your opponent's just gonna go down,
06:23 but I feel like he's listening to his corner,
06:25 taking him, relaxing, taking some chances,
06:28 and he's gonna have to really start working that body
06:30 if he wants to slow him down.
06:31 - Keenan McMahon, last fought in 2022.
06:36 He's been out of the ring for about a good 20 months.
06:38 He talks about that and how he's been in the gym,
06:42 he's been training, but he was just waiting on that call.
06:45 - Oh, he got it.
06:46 He's sitting on ice.
06:48 The ice man was sitting on ice.
06:50 - There you go.
06:50 - But he looks like the type of fighter--
06:53 - He's certainly a step up in class here
06:54 in terms of an opponent.
06:56 - Absolutely. - Meant to get Daniel Gonzalez.
06:57 - And you know, every good fighter who wants to get better
07:01 is always gonna be ready in the gym, even, you know,
07:03 so you don't have to get ready working on that craft.
07:05 You know, you can never know everything about boxing,
07:07 so it's definitely two different styles with this fight.
07:11 You know, Danny's gonna have to start cutting off the ring
07:14 a little bit more and kind of chopping that tree down
07:16 to slow him down so he can get inside.
07:18 He's certainly the sort of fighter.
07:20 - Do you see any ring rust here in McMahon?
07:25 - No, he looks like he, his athleticism doesn't look like
07:28 it proposes any ring rust, you know what I mean?
07:30 So he's definitely moving, but we'll start seeing
07:33 in rounds five and six and see where that ring rust is.
07:36 You know, his reaction time hasn't had to be too much
07:39 because Gonzalez hasn't thrown too much yet.
07:42 So I don't see any ring rust now.
07:43 He's moving pretty well side to side, laterally.
07:45 He's definitely on the back leg, moving around the ring,
07:48 keeping him on the outside of his punches.
07:50 - Gonzalez landing a couple of clean shots
07:54 to the head of McMahon.
07:55 McMahon out of Dublin, Ireland.
07:57 Think about some of the Irish greats,
08:00 Jermaine McLaurin and Steve Collins,
08:01 and Theron McGuigan, Ireland with a crowd-boxing tradition.
08:06 - Shout out to the powerful, bound, greatest right now,
08:09 Katie Taylor doing her thing.
08:10 - McMahon with the clear height advantage
08:17 and trying to use that reach to keep Gonzalez at bay.
08:22 - Gonzalez is slipping in those body shots
08:25 and, you know, trying to get him when he stops.
08:27 There he goes.
08:30 - Now Gonzalez trying to chop down McMahon.
08:33 Going to the body, trying to find an opening and exploit it,
08:35 and that'll do it for round number two.
08:38 But Gonzalez heating up here in our co-main event.
08:43 Round one, more of a fueling out process.
08:47 But Daniel Gonzalez establishing his game plan here
08:53 in round number two as you get a look at everything here
08:56 from the ring walk, the boisterous ovation,
08:59 and now action from round number one and number two.
09:02 - You have Gonzalez here just trying to basically see
09:08 what his opponent's going to do in the ring
09:11 and kind of reacting off of him.
09:12 He's kind of not, he's not being first right now,
09:14 which is, you know, he just basically a fueling out round,
09:17 kind of getting caught up, tangled,
09:19 but he definitely put the heat on the Iceman
09:21 in the last 10 seconds of that last round.
09:23 - And you can see what he was talking about in terms of,
09:27 again, the approach that he had coming into this fight.
09:29 And that was going to be analytical.
09:31 It was going to be to see what his opponent has,
09:33 but then eventually he was going to start
09:35 to apply that pressure.
09:36 This is exactly what he did in the latter part
09:38 of the second round.
09:39 As we begin proceedings here in round number three,
09:43 and Alex McMahon trying to set the early tone.
09:46 Couple of sharp body shots to Gonzalez.
09:49 And as we are underway here in round number three,
09:52 this one's slated for eight rounds
09:54 from the Paramount Theater in Huntington, New York.
09:57 - Gonzalez came out a little bit more high.
09:59 I think he got, he feels, he has all the fueling out rounds
10:04 and the fueling out feels out of his system now.
10:06 He's pretty much putting the gas forward now.
10:09 As long as he goes forward,
10:10 it's kind of putting the momentum on McMahon.
10:13 - One thing Danny Shavona mentioned
10:19 at the top of the broadcast is that
10:22 you will never see Daniel Gonzalez out of shape.
10:25 He comes in very well-trained, well-conditioned,
10:28 and you can just tell, very fresh, very active on his feet.
10:31 - Yeah, absolutely.
10:32 He never, you know, once you,
10:34 if you're so long as you stay ready,
10:35 you don't ever have to get ready.
10:36 And Gonzalez is one of those fighters that's always ready,
10:39 always passionate, always hungry for the next big thing.
10:42 And to always learn,
10:43 that's what makes a really good fighter.
10:45 He's a very good listener.
10:47 He listens to his corner.
10:49 He does what he has to do.
10:50 He's coming forward now.
10:51 He's kind of putting the momentum on, putting the...
10:55 Put on the gas now.
10:57 Once he starts cutting off the ring a little bit more,
11:00 making that ring a little bit smaller,
11:02 where his opponent has nowhere to go,
11:05 we'll see kind of if that ring rust
11:08 pops on his opponent right now,
11:10 going running around the ring that only lasts so long.
11:13 - I look at it two ways.
11:13 I look at it, for one, there's ring rust,
11:16 but there's also a conditioning aspect.
11:18 It's one thing to train, train, train,
11:20 but it's another to be in the ring.
11:22 And I think that we'll see how that plays out,
11:25 but there is a level of endurance, a level of stamina,
11:26 as you would know,
11:27 that you cannot replicate outside of a fight night.
11:30 - Absolutely.
11:31 You can stay in shape,
11:32 but there's a difference between staying in shape
11:34 and then staying in fight shape.
11:35 Staying in sparring and fight shape.
11:37 You know, there's one thing to run miles
11:40 and hit the bag and do the pads,
11:41 but it's another thing to get hit
11:43 and know how to recover from those hits
11:45 and kind of have those scenarios
11:46 where you're gonna have to have real life,
11:48 real fight situations to get out of
11:50 and think on your toes.
11:51 So we're kind of seeing that breaking down
11:53 from Gonzalez right now.
11:55 - Gonzalez fighting the fight that he said
11:59 he was gonna fight,
12:00 coming into this one here, round number three.
12:03 Very methodical.
12:04 Keeping McMahon at bay,
12:07 picking and choosing his spots.
12:09 - See McMahon being really leery right now,
12:11 his mouth open, he's really on that back foot,
12:13 only throwing one jab at a time now, covering up.
12:15 Nose is looking a little bit red right now.
12:20 Gonzalez definitely jumping on him,
12:22 seeing, tasting blood at this point.
12:24 He's feeling, he looks like he's feeling
12:27 really comfortable now, Gonzalez.
12:29 - Tom wanting down here in round number three.
12:34 A round dominated by Daniel Gonzalez
12:36 and that'll do it for the third round.
12:39 - They have a cut in the nose of McMahon too.

14:38 (upbeat music)
14:42 (dramatic music)
14:49 - Eight here in our co-main event.
14:52 Keenan McMahon and Danny Gonzalez.
14:56 And Danny Gonzalez really starting to put together
15:01 his game plan and asserting himself in round number three.
15:04 What impressed you the most about what you saw
15:06 out of Gonzalez in that third frame?
15:08 - That third frame, you know, that third round,
15:10 he definitely, I started seeing him see
15:12 exactly what he needs to do,
15:13 putting the pressure on, breaking McMahon down.
15:16 You know, he's following him around the ring,
15:18 but he's definitely beating him to the position,
15:20 which if he starts cutting down the ring a little bit more,
15:22 it'll definitely make the ring smaller for him.
15:24 But he is putting his punches together,
15:26 putting the combinations together,
15:28 making McMahon kind of have to back out,
15:30 throw one punch and survive.
15:31 Now Gonzalez is actually fighting,
15:33 putting his game plan to work.
15:35 And McMahon is just kind of surviving,
15:36 throwing one or two punches, backing up,
15:39 throwing side to side.
15:41 As long as he keeps touching that body like he's doing now,
15:43 he'll definitely keep slowing him down
15:44 to be able to get that knockout that he was wanting.
15:48 - This is Keenan McMahon's first fight in two years.
15:52 And he's been on the defensive back foot
15:54 and the defensive shell, really,
15:56 for the better part of a round and a half.
15:58 And Danny Gonzalez continues to assert himself.
16:03 - You know, the defensive moving back only works so much
16:06 if you have the endurance to do so.
16:07 But if you have a fighter like Gonzalez on you
16:09 every step of the way, it's going to be really hard for that.
16:12 Gonzalez is being really smart, going up and down.
16:15 He's using-- you know, McMahon's taller than him,
16:17 but he's starting low, going to the body, slowing him down.
16:20 And that's not going to really work when you get a hit
16:22 in the body.
16:23 That game plan you had of running around the ring
16:26 or using that big on the back foot
16:28 is going to get slowed down.
16:29 - Now, to your point, again, using, I guess,
16:32 the height disadvantage to his advantage
16:34 and the way he's able to get into the body,
16:36 the way he's establishing himself.
16:37 And the other point you made is that he's
16:39 beating McMahon to the spot every time now.
16:41 - Every time.
16:42 Every single time.
16:43 And he's not just beating him to the spot.
16:46 He's actually throwing those punches to the body
16:48 when he gets there, working from the body to the head.
16:50 He's being first and being last, which is something
16:52 that, as a fighter, you know, you
16:55 want to be-- especially as a shorter fighter,
16:56 you want to beat him to the position.
16:58 You want to work that body, slow him down.
17:00 He has him on the ropes now.
17:01 He's just taking advantage of the position
17:03 that McMahon has himself in.
17:04 - Gonzalez, the corner, asking him
17:08 to take a bit of an angle here on some of his shots.
17:12 But right now, Key McMahon reduced to really just
17:15 a defensive shell and maybe poking a couple of counters
17:19 here and there.
17:20 He's just in survival mode right now,
17:22 the way that Daniel Gonzalez is really methodically
17:24 taking over this fight.
17:27 - Yeah, McMahon has his hands up.
17:28 He's throwing one punch and then moving side to side.
17:30 That's a sign of survival.
17:31 I mean, it's not really a--
17:33 he's not fighting a way you would fight
17:35 if you were in a fight and just buying rounds.
17:37 He's just trying to kind of survive out of the round.
17:40 - You talk about this being a second act of sorts
17:43 in the overall grand scheme of Danny Gonzalez's career
17:46 and some of the veteran savvy that he's acquired
17:51 over his boxing career.
17:52 Is that going to do for round number four?
17:54 And Danny Gonzalez continues to execute in a way
17:57 that he told us he was going to.
18:01 And that was-- he was in applied pressure, a lot of pressure.
18:03 In his words, apply pressure with swag.
18:07 And he has just gotten stronger and stronger
18:09 as this fight has gone on.
18:11 And it's really worn on his opponent, Key McMahon.
18:14 - Yeah, McMahon, he's trying to answer back.
18:16 You know, I don't-- maybe he thought
18:17 that Gonzalez wasn't throwing as much as he's throwing,
18:20 because he's still very much in the fight.
18:22 He's just trying to figure it out now.
18:24 He just has to change his game plan up.
18:26 He would be smart to keep him on the end of his jab
18:28 and keep moving, but also keep throwing more than one jab.
18:31 Maybe go to the body, throw some combinations,
18:32 maybe hook out.
18:33 But he's just throwing one jab and covering up right now,
18:35 which isn't working.
18:36 And Gonzalez is kind of taking advantage of that.
18:38 - The question, again, goes to, again,
18:39 someone fighting for his first time in a couple of years,
18:43 that level of conditioning.
18:45 You know, how much can you replicate in training sessions
18:48 where, again, it's just not there when you're going up
18:51 against a fighter who, you know, again,
18:54 you've seen his career, his career progression.
18:56 He's never out of shape.
18:58 He's always one of the most conditioned boxers out there.
19:01 So, again, you put those factors together,
19:03 the ring rust, the conditioning level,
19:05 and you just-- it's tough to stick to that game plan.
19:07 You said it.
19:08 His game plan would be ample, again, just to use that jab,
19:11 keep him at a distance, and operate out of that.
19:13 But right now, for sure.
19:14 - But it's hard to keep Gonzalez at a distance,
19:16 because he is determined to get inside.
19:17 I mean, he knows exactly what he needs
19:19 to do to get inside to do what he needs to do.
19:21 - So, continuing the point that we were making
19:22 at the end of the third-- at the end of the fourth round,
19:25 rather, and again, in the grand scheme of the progression
19:28 that you've seen out of Gonzalez,
19:30 and that savviness that he's acquired,
19:32 that ring presence that he's garnered
19:34 along with all these years of fights,
19:36 what are you seeing now maybe you didn't see a few years ago?
19:40 - You know, I see-- again, I see him being really comfortable,
19:42 really sure of what he's doing,
19:44 knowing what he needs to do, really being really comfortable.
19:47 You know, boxing is a game of being comfortable
19:49 being uncomfortable.
19:50 This is an uncomfortable position
19:52 to have to punch somebody while being punched.
19:54 But I see Gonzalez being really comfortable
19:55 knowing what he needs to do, being very sure of himself,
19:58 and breaking his opponents down in a very, very assertive way.
20:01 You know what I mean?
20:02 He's a very passionate fighter, very skilled fighter,
20:04 but I just see him very comfortable in there.
20:06 You know, and he's making his opponent uncomfortable.
20:10 - Boxing the fifth round.
20:13 Daniel Gonzalez, 24 and 1,
20:17 coming into this-- tonight's action.
20:20 Keene, the Iceman McMahon out of Dublin, Ireland, 7 and 3.
20:26 His first fight in a couple of years in some blood.
20:29 Oh, on the face of Keene McMahon.
20:34 As Gonzalez trying again to back--
20:38 - Going from corner to corner.
20:39 - McMahon up against the ropes and go to work.
20:42 [crowd shouting]
20:47 Big pop there in the left hand, shot to the face of McMahon.
20:50 - I can now see the ring rust.
20:52 You know, that's that first two, three rounds,
20:54 and you feel really good until the endurance has to kick in,
20:58 and you haven't been there, like you said, with the training.
21:00 You really can't-- that's a different feeling
21:02 when you're in there actually getting punched
21:03 and you have to execute the game plan.
21:05 I can kind of see him getting broken down now.
21:07 [crowd shouting]
21:12 - Gonzalez just so impressive.
21:13 Again, we harp on the fact that he's so well-conditioned.
21:18 The discipline in the ring,
21:20 you can tell that his training regimen is on point,
21:23 and this is someone that's just, again, he's sweating,
21:25 but he hasn't-- he's not huffing and puffing out there.
21:28 He's done the vast majority in terms of the work rate,
21:30 in terms of the punches thrown, but just continues to go,
21:34 and he boxed well into round number five.
21:37 No letdown here by Gonzalez.
21:39 - Not at all. I mean, sometimes fighters forget,
21:41 even though you have talent, you still have to work hard,
21:43 and, you know, Danny Gonzalez has both.
21:45 He has the talent and he works hard, too,
21:47 and that's hard to kind of get into the minds of the fighters,
21:51 so that was a really good round for him.
21:53 [crowd shouting]
21:59 - Five rounds in the book.
