00:00 There will be no water crisis in Metro Manila, but don't be too happy with the water.
00:06 This is the task force's assessment in the midst of the hot, hot weather.
00:12 It gave some tips for the efficient use of water.
00:16 Kenneth Paciente will tell you about it in the Central News.
00:20 As the owner of a rice mill, Editha is very concerned with water.
00:27 She has a lot of plates and she puts them aside to use for other things like cleaning.
00:33 We really need to bring water.
00:36 We need it every day.
00:38 If we're going to do the laundry, we can use it for pouring.
00:44 So that we won't have to do it again, we bring water.
00:48 And now that the dry season has started, accompanied by the effect of the El Niño,
00:53 it's really important to use water efficiently.
00:56 The task force of El Niño clarified that the Metro Manila has not yet experienced a water crisis.
01:02 This is followed by the declaration of some places in the country of a state of calamity
01:06 due to the crisis in water.
01:08 According to Task Force El Niño Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Joey Villarama,
01:12 the water level is still at a normal level,
01:15 which is the main source of water in Calacang, Manila.
01:18 It's a big thing that there is still a rain forecast in the next few months
01:23 that will help to avoid a critical dam level.
01:28 However, the government and the government agencies are prepared
01:32 to fight in case the water shortage reaches a point.
01:37 NDRRMC will send help to the Office of Civil Defense
01:41 to send stationery or static tanks.
01:45 But I know that's not the long-term solution.
01:49 But the immediate solution is to send water to households.
01:55 The LGU and the national government are looking for a long-term solution
02:01 in terms of how to supply the needs of the households,
02:06 particularly in water.
02:08 So, we are still studying that.
02:10 Next, the task force urged the public to participate in water saving,
02:15 even in a small way,
02:17 such as avoiding using water hose when watering plants
02:21 and using buckets and buckets instead of flash and bidet when using the bathroom.
02:26 It's better to use a bucket.
02:29 We lower the floater so that the water level inside the tank
02:35 is not too high or the water consumption is high.
02:39 And because we are Filipinos, it's in our culture to use buckets.
02:45 We use buckets when we bathe.
02:48 But what about inflatable swimming pools that are popular during hot weather?
02:52 It's not prohibited now, but we are discouraged
02:58 because using inflatable pools is expensive.
03:02 For our well-being, because El Nino still has two months
03:07 including the sun, we need to fill it up.
03:10 One of the water saving measures is not to use inflatable pools.
03:16 In addition to the government's commitment to private and business establishments,
03:20 water conservation is also important.
03:22 It's included in the advisories issued by NWRB
03:27 on water saving not only in subdivisions,
03:31 in condominium buildings, but also in commercial establishments.
03:35 All encompassing, the advisories are wide-ranging
03:40 on how to save water.
03:43 So if that includes golf courses, in their own way,
03:46 if we can save water,
03:49 we should do it so that we can overcome this possible water crisis or disruption.
03:56 Kenneth Paciente for Pambansang TV in the Philippines.
