00:00 It was on the 14th of March. My next door neighbour had been in hospital and she had
00:07 just been discharged and I looked out of the living room window and the ambulance pulled
00:14 up and I thought the top hose on the radiator had popped so I could see what I thought was
00:21 steam and after 3 or 4 minutes it was clear it was smoke and it was flames. The upstairs
00:27 bedroom window was blown open, put in the house full of smoke and debris and glass shrapnel.
00:34 Of course it's very frightening to sit there because we were actually looking at the explosion
00:42 on our tablets. You think it's a movie but it really is happening, it's happening to
00:48 you. Your house is filling up with smoke. There was a secondary fire as glass ignited
00:56 the net curtains so that was swiftly put out. We were both physically frightened. It was
01:04 not what you expect to happen. We were expecting the insurance to come and board the window
01:11 up but they informed me that they do not provide emergency repairs to the property so I had
01:19 to climb a carpet and join a by-trade. Luckily I had a piece of board and I boarded the window
01:25 up to make it secure. If I hadn't of done that I would still have a hole in the side
01:31 of the house. At the cost of the repair society to mount up, the back of the car with the
01:39 intense heat actually melted the tailgate of the car. The insurance company wanted to
01:46 write the car off. I managed to source a new tailgate and I fixed it up myself and made
01:53 the car safe again. We're waiting now. It seems like forever to get the repairs done.
02:03 We just want our house to be back how it was.
