00:29 If thou wilt cut off the heads of thy two children and besmear me with their blood,
00:37 I shall receive life again.
00:42 Besmear me? That's disgusting.
00:45 Fairy tales?
00:54 Weak, Chris. Very weak.
00:57 Weak? Have you ever read these things?
01:01 Not the wimpy versions. The original ones.
01:04 Ah, no. Can't say I have.
01:06 I have. They're full of stabbings and demons and man-eating animals and cutting off limbs and whatnot.
01:15 Cool stuff.
01:17 My favorites, the one where the old woman kidnaps the prince and puts blood on the queen's mouth while she sleeps to make the king think she ate him.
01:30 That's so gross. I love it.
01:33 I'm not buying it. A kitty story is a kitty story, no matter how you cut it.
01:38 Oh, man. You're not going to tell some tired old fairy tale, are you?
01:42 Not exactly. The story I'm going to tell is about a girl who loved fairy tales.
01:49 She had a huge collection. She knew most of them by heart.
01:54 The trouble was, she spent so much time thinking about the world of make-believe
02:00 that she started to forget the difference between reality and imagination.
02:07 And when you do that, a fairy tale can soon become a scary tale.
02:17 Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story...
02:36 "Tale of the Final Wish."
02:39 Go ahead, my dear. Have a taste.
02:47 Such a pretty apple.
02:51 You must take a bite.
02:54 Or if you don't, I'll have to...
02:58 ...push you to eat it!

03:56 You've got to grow up, Jill.
04:22 This is stupid. There's nothing under there.
04:26 [screaming]
04:30 Mom, Dad, the bed! There's something there!
04:34 - What? - Something under the bed! It grabbed me!
04:37 - Oh, Jill, not again! - I swear, it grabbed me!
04:41 - Honey, it was a dream! - No, it wasn't!
04:46 [groaning]
04:49 I sat on the bed and these green, nasty-looking, scaly hands reached out and tried to pull me under.
04:58 I'm not kidding! Look!
05:02 [groaning]
05:15 Mmm! Didn't we have this last week?
05:19 Don't make fun of me.
05:23 - What's going on? - Nothing. Jill had a nightmare.
05:27 It wasn't a nightmare. There was something under there.
05:30 Jill, we all have nightmares. You just can't take them so seriously.
05:35 Go back to bed.
05:42 - Gotcha. - It was you? Mom!
05:47 Come on, don't be such a snitch.
05:52 I hate you! Why did you do that?
05:57 I thought you wanted to find something under the bed. You're always looking.
06:01 - Why didn't you just grow up? - Me?
06:04 You're the one who's still living in a fairyland, princess.
06:07 You're 14 years old. Listen to the radio. Go to a concert or something.
06:12 Stop being a kid and maybe you won't be scared of boogeymen under the bed anymore.
06:17 Sweet dreams.
06:22 Jill, come on!
06:29 Gonna miss the bus.
06:32 Jill! Don't do this again!
06:35 I'm coming!
06:37 Jill was having a rough time.
06:40 Everyone kept telling her to grow up and act your age.
06:44 But she didn't know how to grow up any faster.
06:47 And she wasn't exactly sure how kids her age were supposed to act.
06:51 Yuck! I can't wait. Adios!
06:55 - Jill, I am not gonna call you again! - I'm late!
06:59 - Why does she always do this? - I don't know.
07:01 But if she misses the bus again, it's your turn to drive her.
07:04 - But... - Bye.
07:07 Jill, I am not gonna be late for work!
07:11 I'm coming!
07:21 - Sorry. - Why do you do this?
07:27 All I ask is that you get up and out on time.
07:30 Now I'm gonna have to drive you to school, and I'm gonna be late for work. Again.
07:34 I told you I'm sorry.
07:37 Don't ignore me!
07:39 You are gonna have to learn some responsibility, miss.
07:42 Other people live in this house, and we're getting tired of putting up with your childishness.
07:47 Come on.
07:52 (HORN HONKING)
07:55 Jill kind of understood why her family was giving her grief.
08:05 But her friends weren't helping much either.
08:20 He's so fine.
08:23 I'd talk to him, but I'd probably drool or something.
08:27 Aren't you guys being kind of obvious?
08:34 We're just looking.
08:36 Yeah, like a couple silly gooses.
08:40 Silly gooses? My grandmother says that.
08:47 Did you see that?
08:50 He checked her out. Did he check her out?
08:53 No way. He wouldn't check out a geek.
08:57 Look at this.
09:00 Grimm's fairy tales. Mother Goose.
09:04 The Sandman and other tales.
09:07 What is with her? Is she like a baby or something?
09:12 Talk about us. We saw you flirt with him.
09:16 I didn't. I had to sharpen my pencil.
09:19 Yeah, right.
09:22 He's coming. He's coming.
09:26 Hey, Jill. Hi.
09:29 You have that reading assignment Kelly gave us yesterday? I lost it someplace.
09:33 Sure.
09:40 This is what you're supposed to read?
09:43 Hey. These are really interesting.
09:46 Are you reading these?
09:48 Yeah. No. I have to do a book report.
09:52 On what? Humpty Dumpty?
09:55 Hey, trolls. I used to play with these when I was a kid.
09:58 Jill plays with them now.
10:01 Get out of here, will you?
10:04 Hey, Jill. You forgot your doll.
10:10 Jill knew she was being kind of childish.
10:13 But there was something inside her that didn't want to give up the world of fairy tales.
10:18 Because in all those stories, no matter how bad things got,
10:22 everyone always lived happily ever after.
10:25 And the princess always got the prince.
10:29 I've come to awaken you, Sleeping Beauty.
10:36 Sleeping Beauty?
10:39 Oh, Jill. It's me.
10:44 Why did you do that?
10:46 I got this for Halloween, and I just wanted to show you.
10:49 You did not. You wanted to scare me again.
10:52 No, really. I didn't mean to. Yes, you did. I hate you.
10:55 I hate all of you. I'm sorry.
10:58 Jeez, don't get so bent out of shape. Get out of here. Leave me alone.
11:01 I'm gonna sweat. I'm gone.
11:04 I'm sorry.
11:07 What's so wrong about wanting to live in a world where dreams come true and you can wish on a star?

17:50 What?
17:52 Here's the scene. You took my book, clutched it to your chest,
17:57 looked out at the first star and said,
18:00 "What's so wrong about wanting to live in a place where dreams come true,
