00:00 A Sabah Deputy Chief Minister has dismissed claims by UMNO's Bung Mukhtar Radin that
00:08 Gabungan Rakyat Sabah leaders are all talk, citing ongoing efforts to resolve power supply
00:14 and water problems in the state.
00:16 Jeffrey Kitingan said the ruling coalition was currently looking into the long-standing
00:21 issue of power cuts, which had plagued the state even when Bung was in government.
00:26 Kitingan added that in the long run, the Sabah government is expected to generate surplus
00:31 power from other sources such as hydro, solar and ocean thermal energy.
00:37 Similarly, he said the water problem in the state was not new and had existed even when
00:42 Bung was the Deputy Chief Minister.
00:44 The only difference now was that Sabah was enduring a drought due to the El Niño phenomenon.
00:51 Kitingan said the Sabah government has implemented short-term measures to tackle the issue, such
00:56 as resolving water thefts, distributing water to villages, and cloud seeding.
01:01 The state government has also taken proactive steps to protect its water sources by gazetting
01:06 water catchment areas.
01:08 On Tuesday night, Bung said GRS leaders were all talk, no action, accusing them of repeatedly
01:14 making announcements without resolving any of the state's problems.
