00:03 [LAUGHTER]
00:31 Take off the bag as soon as--
00:33 hey, they're here.
00:35 This better be good, because we can get electrocuted.
00:37 So who's this mystery guy we've been hearing about?
00:40 Guys, my friend Sam.
00:48 The guy's a girl.
00:54 Sam, it's Samantha.
00:57 My friends call me Sam.
00:59 Yo, Sam, I'm Frank, and I think you're the hottest
01:03 thing around this campfire.
01:04 Thanks.
01:05 You can call me Samantha.
01:09 Oh, oh, mercy, mercy.
01:12 The babe's got bite.
01:15 I think you're perfect.
01:18 For the Midnight Society, do you know the rules?
01:21 Sure.
01:22 I tell you guys a story.
01:23 If you guys like it, I'm in.
01:25 If not, I'm on the high line.
01:30 Let's get going, OK?
01:31 Good luck.
01:45 You're on.
01:47 I had lots of stories I could have told,
01:50 but I picked one that kind of fits the setting.
01:54 There are tons of ancient legends about the woods,
01:57 legends of spirits like the Manitou or the Windigo.
02:01 But whatever happened to these spirits
02:03 once people showed up to hack down their world?
02:07 Many moved on, but some say the truly evil ones clung to home
02:14 with twisted hearts full of revenge for all
02:18 who dare disturb their home.
02:21 Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society,
02:25 I call this story "The Tale of Watcher's Woods."
02:37 [MUSIC PLAYING]
03:06 It was Sarah's first time at Camp Grindelstone.
03:09 She was a super achiever, who had every medal
03:12 a trail maker could earn.
03:14 Only problem was, Sarah was so busy with activities,
03:18 she didn't have much time for friends.
03:22 Kelly, on the other hand, had been to Grindelstone before
03:26 and hated it.
03:28 She had tons of friends at home and really
03:30 didn't want to be there.
03:31 [MUSIC PLAYING]
03:34 Walk much?
03:42 Sorry, let me help.
03:44 No one touches my stuff.
03:48 I'm Sarah.
03:49 It's my first time here.
03:51 I'm thrilled.
03:52 What tent you in?
03:53 Six, how about you?
03:56 Six?
03:57 Yeah.
03:59 Great.
04:00 We can be pals.
04:03 [MUSIC PLAYING]
04:05 Is she, like, too perfect or what?
04:21 Oh, look, here's the one she got for jumping out
04:23 of an airplane and living.
04:26 Here's the one she got for cleaning up all the pollution
04:29 in the whole world.
04:32 Here's the one she got for never doing anything wrong ever.
04:36 Of course, everybody gets that one.
04:39 Hi, guys.
04:40 Mind if I hang out?
04:42 Has anybody seen my trail maker's vest?
04:47 Bats.
04:56 They hate music.
04:58 That is what you're playing, Sylvie, isn't it?
05:02 Ha, ha.
05:05 This place is pretty cool.
05:06 Never enter Watch's Woods, ever.
05:14 What's Watch's Woods?
05:21 You're new, so I'll tell you.
05:26 It's a place where people get blipped.
05:30 Blipped?
05:31 Lost, vaporized, erased.
05:34 The legend goes way back.
05:36 Indian tribes, colonial soldiers, pioneers, all gone,
05:41 never seen again.
05:43 So where is this place?
05:45 No one knows.
05:47 They say it moves like a shark looking for victims.
05:51 And once you realize you're inside, it's too late.
05:56 It sounds like a stupid camp story to me.
06:00 Why is it called Watch's Woods?
06:03 The few who escaped came back crazy,
06:06 babbling something about the Watcher, a demon who guards
06:12 the woods and picks out its victims.
06:16 They blipped in 1919.
06:20 Tomorrow will be 75 years to the day.
06:27 They went for a hike and were never seen again.
06:31 The only trace the searchers found were their whistles.
06:36 Care to go for a little hike in Watch's Woods, superstar?
06:44 [SCREAMING]
06:46 Rats, I hate rats.
06:48 It was only a little rat.
06:50 It's going to be a long couple of weeks.
07:09 You'll work in teams of two.
07:16 The goal is to collect as many specimens
07:18 as you can for your nature medals
07:21 and get back before dark.
07:22 Kelly, I want you to take Sarah.
07:25 You know the woods pretty well.
07:28 Maybe we'll find Watch's Woods.
07:31 And remember, no fires.
07:34 We don't want any accidents.
07:36 Have fun.
07:37 So where do we start?
07:45 Start by keeping out of my face.
07:47 Do you know what the manual says to do if you get lost?
07:55 No, but I'll bet you do.
07:57 Three sharp blasts on the whistle.
07:59 That's the call for help.
08:01 Gee, thanks.
08:01 I'll try to remember that.
08:04 You going to smoke?
08:05 Yes.
08:06 The fire warning is up.
08:09 You were just too perfect, aren't you?
08:12 I am not.
08:13 Look, I'm not into this medal stuff.
08:17 Let's just chill and sneak back to camp, OK?
08:20 No, I like it.
08:22 That's why I'm here.
08:23 Yeah?
08:25 I'm here because my parents want me out
08:27 of the house for two weeks.
08:30 I'll make you a deal.
08:32 I know these woods.
08:34 I'll show you a pheasant nest when
08:36 Kateroole goes swimming.
08:38 A pheasant's nest?
08:39 Really?
08:42 Deal.
08:44 OK, mother nature, let's roll.
08:46 Through there.
08:53 It's a tight squeeze.
08:54 Give me your pack.
08:56 Do you think they're still nesting?
08:57 Gosh, I don't know.
08:59 Go look.
09:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:03 If there's somebody smart, you're pretty dim.
09:15 Adios.
09:16 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:19 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:23 I don't see any nesting there.
09:45 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:49 Kelly?
09:52 Kelly?
09:53 Oh, man.
10:01 I don't believe this.
10:02 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:06 It can't be lost.
10:10 No way.
10:11 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:14 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:18 This is not happening.
10:32 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:39 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:43 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:46 [MUSIC PLAYING]
10:50 [MUSIC PLAYING]
11:19 There was a path here.
11:21 [MUSIC PLAYING]
11:24 Kelly?
11:30 Kelly?
11:34 Kelly?
11:49 Kelly?
11:49 [SCREAM]
12:11 Welcome to my world.
12:15 [INAUDIBLE]
12:21 OK, be cool.
12:22 Don't lose it.
12:24 You can get out of this.
12:25 You just got it.
12:26 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:30 Yes.
12:31 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
12:38 Hello?
13:04 Anybody there?
13:05 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:08 Hello?
13:14 Hello?
13:18 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:22 Oh, it's a god.
13:37 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:41 Maybe I don't need help that bad.
13:47 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:51 [SCREAM]
13:54 [MUSIC PLAYING]
13:57 Welcome to Watcher's Woods.
14:14 [INAUDIBLE]
14:16 [SCREAM]
14:18 [MUSIC PLAYING]
14:22 Who are you?
14:23 It took us 75 years, but finally we've got you.
14:33 We've waited.
14:34 Oh, how we've waited.
14:36 Are we sure it's her?
14:38 I'm not so sure.
14:40 I'm not her.
14:43 Who's her?
14:45 Now, do you tell us where you put our whistles,
14:49 or do we work on our archery skills?
14:52 What whistles?
14:54 I guess we should.
14:56 Can't we play with her a bit first?
14:59 No.
15:01 Ready?
15:04 Aim.
15:07 Fire.
15:08 No!
15:09 [MUSIC PLAYING]
15:13 Mm, bullseye.
15:14 [MUSIC PLAYING]
15:17 Now, what about our whistles?
15:25 You're the missing trail makers.
15:28 You've been gone since--
15:30 1919.
15:32 See?
15:33 Her memory's coming back.
15:35 [LAUGHTER]
15:38 [MUSIC PLAYING]
15:42 [WHISTLE]
15:45 Why did you steal our whistles?
15:57 I didn't.
15:58 I don't even know you.
15:59 You tricked us.
16:01 You left us here to die.
16:03 Worse.
16:04 You left us for the Watcher.
16:07 [WHISTLE]
16:10 The Watcher.
16:20 He said he'd hold our souls till we found our whistles.
16:24 He knew we'd never find them.
16:27 So it's eternity for us in his woods.
16:30 And it's all your fault.
16:33 But now we've got you.
16:36 Soon you'll be old and dead as we are.
16:43 Almost family.
16:45 I know where your whistles are.
16:51 If you let me go, I'll go get them.
17:04 If we let you go, would you come back?
17:07 Yes, I guess.
17:08 I swear.
17:09 [MUSIC PLAYING]
17:13 O'Deary?
17:32 We don't believe you.
17:35 No!
17:35 What scares you most?
17:49 What?
17:51 Who cares?
17:53 I know how you like to play.
18:01 It's some rodents.
18:03 [WHISTLE]
18:06 I don't think she likes rodents.
18:11 We'll give her a chance to make friends.
18:14 Careful now.
18:15 Why did it have to be rats?
18:29 [MUSIC PLAYING]
18:31 Kelly.
18:32 Sarah.
18:33 Sarah, get me out of here.
18:37 I'm sorry I made fun of you.
18:38 I'm sorry I got you lost.
18:41 Shh.
18:42 Quiet.
18:43 They're ghosts, Sarah.
18:45 They think I stole their whistles.
18:46 I wouldn't do that.
18:48 No?
18:49 He did it to me.
18:50 I'm sorry.
18:51 This is Roger's woods.
18:53 It's real.
18:54 We're never going to get out.
18:56 Yes, we are.
18:57 Just--
18:58 We'll divide this.
19:02 [SCREAM]
19:04 Well, well, another visitor.
19:11 What are we going to do with this one?
19:13 Why not work on our survival medal and hunt her for food?
19:19 Wait.
19:20 I can help you.
19:21 How?
19:23 I can get your whistles.
19:24 I know where they are.
19:25 Are you certain?
19:27 Yes, I can run back and get them.
19:29 We'll keep your slimy little friend.
19:31 And if you're not backed by Son-Up,
19:33 she'll be food for the mice and the newts.
19:36 And Sarah, are you sure?
19:38 You got a better idea?
19:40 If you're going, go.
19:42 Could-- could you move the bucket?
19:51 [MUSIC PLAYING]
19:54 North Star, North Star, North Star.
20:05 So can you.
20:07 That way.
20:20 What?
20:22 Who are you?
20:24 I'm watching you.
20:27 [SCREAM]
20:38 You fascinate me, Sarah.
20:49 I'm eager to end a soul such as yours,
20:54 isn't it, like precious woods?
20:59 Come.
21:01 Join me.
21:03 Back off.
21:04 Flame cannot harm me.
21:11 Maybe not you, but I could torture precious woods
21:15 like dry kindling.
21:18 Now let me pass.
21:20 I don't believe you.
21:21 Try me.
21:22 [MUSIC PLAYING]
21:44 [THUNDER]
21:46 [GLASS SHATTERING]
21:54 [MUSIC PLAYING]
21:57 She's not back yet.
22:00 So should we start on our cooking medals
22:03 or on our pet keeping medals?
22:05 Why not cook half of her and teach
22:09 the other half to do tricks?
22:11 [LAUGHING]
22:13 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:16 [GLASS SHATTERING]
22:18 Has to be sharp to be aimless.
22:21 Sarah!
22:24 Donna!
22:25 Give 'em to me.
22:37 It's three we need to break the spell, not two.
22:42 But I had them just a minute ago.
22:44 What a nasty thing to do to us.
22:46 You didn't use your head.
22:48 But we will.
22:50 Wait, just let me look for them.
22:52 Two!
22:53 Three!
23:05 We're going to make such a mess.
23:09 Kelly?
23:10 Oh, no.
23:13 I found it.
23:14 It's over here.
23:15 Ignore her.
23:16 She lies.
23:17 Kelly?
23:18 Kelly, please.
23:25 On my signal.
23:32 One, two, three!
23:37 You OK?
23:56 Yeah.
23:58 I think so.
24:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:03 Could it be?
24:28 [WHISTLING]
24:32 [WHISTLING]
24:36 [MUSIC PLAYING]
25:03 Where are those?
25:05 It's a trail sign.
25:06 It means I've gone home.
25:09 And you came back.
25:12 Yeah.
25:13 You saved my neck.
25:14 Come on, let's go home.

26:17 The end.
26:25 So what did you guys think?
26:27 [BIRDS CHIRPING]
26:30 [MUSIC PLAYING]
26:45 Mom, I don't know how to tell you this.
26:50 That's OK.
26:52 That's OK, I understand.
26:53 Thanks for the shot.
26:55 What I mean is, it's going to be real hard calling
26:59 somebody that looks like you, Sam.
