00:00 Some residents of San Andres Bukid in Manila are not in favor of a relocation to their area for the construction of the North-South Commuter Railway Project.

00:11 These houses in Barangay 800 in San Andres Bukid in Manila are already high and are made of stone.

00:23 The government's North-South Commuter Railway Project is already underway.

00:28 The problem of some residents is that the relocation will be small and not enough for them in Naic Cavite.

00:35 It's like a condo type, three story.

00:38 So it's 27 square meters, two bedrooms.

00:43 But it doesn't have its own land.

00:45 So how can you say that it's ours? This is ours.

00:48 This is our grandfather's land. We don't pay anything monthly.

00:53 Gloria is also thinking of how to get a good future for her five children who are still studying.

01:06 Why would we move to another province?

01:09 If we are going to be removed or if ever there is a relocation, it should be in Manila.

01:13 In 2004, the first one to be moved was their house, but they did not receive anything.

01:20 75-year-old father Betlehem has a problem with his hospitalization when they were moved to another province.

01:28 I just came from the Manila Hospital. I was going back and forth to get a check-up.

01:33 If we are going to be moved to a faraway place, what's the guarantee that we will get a free hospital there?

01:40 He needs to undergo an operation for his lus-lus, so he's thinking of a relocation.

01:46 He's also thinking of his job as a housekeeper and the monthly payment for the government's house.

01:53 At my age, the question is can I still pay for a few years?

01:57 It's better not to happen. I'm not going to leave a problem for my children.

02:04 The barangay said that more than 100 families are affected by the DOTR project.

02:10 There is no schedule for the relocation of the houses, but it's possible that the houses will be relocated before the second quarter of 2024 ends.

02:19 For now, DOTR has placed markings for the affected houses.
