00:00 Everyone is getting ready here for the commemorations of the 30 years, 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsis,
00:07 which will officially begin tomorrow.
00:09 Preparations have already begun and people from around the world have already started to arrive.
00:16 An international conference was held yesterday, but the official commemorations will begin tomorrow,
00:23 when the Rwandan president Paul Kagame will light the flame of remembrance.
00:29 That flame will burn for 100 days.
00:32 That's the amount of time it took for hundreds of thousands of Tutsis to be killed back in 1994.
00:40 A huge group of people are also expected to join the March of Remembrance,
00:46 that will start from the Rwandan parliament and that will go on to the national stadium.
00:52 Now, as you said, it will also be the beginning of a week of national mourning.
00:56 Music will be banned on radio stations and in public spaces,
01:01 and any movies or sports events will be banned from playing on television,
01:05 unless they're connected to the commemorations.
01:09 Now, people from around the world, including important political figures,
01:13 will be attending these commemorations, including the US president Bill Clinton.
01:19 There will also be representatives from France, from Belgium and from the UK.
01:24 Commemorations will not only be taking place in Kigali,
01:27 there are 170 memorial sites across the country that people will be going to over the next 100 days,
01:35 until the 15th of July.

01:42 captured the city of Kigali from the Hutu extremists back in 1994.
