00:00 Welcome to Griffith in the Salyards. So you're here to make a big announcement for us.
00:06 So we're really excited about that. So can you tell us, explain what's going on?
00:10 Fantastic to be here at Griffith Salyards today. We're with Local Member Helen Dalton and the Mayor.
00:16 And we do have a significant announcement to make today.
00:19 The Government has already announced a $38 million investment in sheep and goat EID across New South Wales.
00:26 So we want to support Salyards just like this one to be ready for sheep and goat EID implementation from 1 January next year.
00:34 And as part of the rollout of that commitment of funding, I'm going to be announcing an additional $1.4 million today for Salyards.
00:41 In the next round of funding we can apply to get support from the Government to implement the EID scheme that we need in place for next year.
00:50 So here at Griffith Salyards we've already invested almost half a million dollars in preparing for electronic tagging that we need in place for traceability,
00:59 to protect from disease, so that we can protect our biosecurity needs and protect our industry into the future.
01:05 And now there's an additional $1.4 million on the table for some of the other, perhaps some of the smaller Salyards around the region,
01:12 who do need Government support to implement and be ready for this scheme to be rolled out next year.
