Daisy Ridley stars as the accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement – a 21-mile trek from France to England. “Young Woman and the Sea,” which also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, and Glenn Fleshler, is directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on the book “Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World” by Glenn Stout. The producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Jeff Nathanson, with John G. Scotti, Daisy Ridley, and Joachim Rønning serving as executive producers.
“Young Woman and the Sea” will open in select theaters May 31, 2024.

00:02 I know you've thought about it.
00:04 [sigh]
00:06 How far is it across?
00:11 It's 21 miles across.
00:13 Currents changing every few hours.
00:15 Freezing water.
00:16 The hardest test in all of sport.
00:18 Do you think I could do it?
00:22 Do you think I can?
00:28 I've decided to swim the English Channel.
00:30 What do you mean?
00:32 I'm going to swim the English Channel.
00:33 No! I'm saying...
00:35 I wasn't asking.
00:36 Please pass the bread.
00:38 A woman?
00:41 She won't get past the seventh male.
00:43 I believe she'll die in that water.
00:45 You know most men believe that we're too weak to compete.
00:48 And what if I make it?
00:49 Then they got a serious problem.
00:51 The thing you love most.
00:55 It terrifies me.
00:57 I can't imagine if something happens to you.
01:00 They're rooting against you, Trudy.
01:04 They want the water to win.
01:07 I came all this way.
01:10 Might as well see England.
01:12 There's no going back.
01:20 Come on, girl.
01:23 Kick your feet!
01:26 I'm not going to let you do this.
01:28 I need you to promise me something.
01:34 Don't let anyone take me out of the water.
01:36 No matter what.
01:38 Six miles in.
01:43 She's slowing down.
01:45 They don't want us to be heroes.
01:47 They don't want us to be anything.
01:54 Jellyfish!
01:55 She's gonna have to swim through.
01:57 Trudy, you don't have to do this.
02:01 I don't know.
02:06 Seems like a nice day for a swim.
02:08 (((NO-SYSTEMS)))
