The great remedy for the longlasting disease of samsara is the enquiry, 'Who am I ?, to whom

00:26 The great remedy to all suffering
00:29 is the inquiry "Koham" - Who am I?
00:33 The great inquiry
00:37 into suffering is getting close
00:41 to suffering itself. The sage says
00:45 "What is this Sansar?" The Sansar itself is
00:49 the suffering. The sage is saying "Get close to suffering."
00:53 Is there any experience of your suffering which has not come
00:57 from the world? Go into your own experience.
01:01 Verify it. We all have our wounds
01:05 and hurts. Any of your wounds and hurts
01:09 that have not come from the world, that have not come
01:13 from an aspect of your relationship with something or somebody?
01:17 The sage is saying "Suffering comes
01:21 from the world. Suffering is in fact analogous with the world."
01:25 So, inquire into the world.
01:29 And parallelly he is saying "Find out who am I?"
01:33 The world gives the suffering to this "I". Let the inquiry
01:37 be parallel. Who is giving the suffering and who is the sufferer?
01:41 This is classical duality.
01:45 There is somebody who is affecting me and there is somebody who is getting
01:49 affected. There is an object and there is a subject.
01:53 The sage is saying "Inquire into both. I and the Sansar.
01:57 Inquire into both." And when you inquire into both,
02:01 then both dissolve together.
02:05 And now the non-dual truth,
02:09 the Dvaita Sathya, has descended.
02:13 Now there is freedom
02:17 from both the world that appears
02:21 outside and the ego that appears
02:25 inside. In fact now, outside and inside
02:29 both are gone. Outside and inside are space.
02:33 Gone.
02:37 The total import of
02:41 all these five opening verses is simple.
02:45 "Kindly do not look for the beyond."
02:49 "Kindly do not look anywhere else
02:53 for liberation." You are living. You are
02:57 alive. You have a life. Go into your
03:01 own daily experiences.
03:05 Go into how you are living.
03:09 Are you getting it? What am I wearing? What am I
03:13 eating? Where do I come?
03:17 And from where do I go?
03:21 Am I attentive?
03:25 What am I planning for? What am I looking
03:29 towards? Am I still thinking of the future?
03:33 Am I still thinking in terms of time? Am I always
03:37 thinking in terms of time?
03:41 The sage is saying this is the only method.
03:45 And he is saying the
03:49 truth being the only method, it comes to you only
03:53 by the grace of truth itself.
03:57 And truth showers its grace only when
04:01 you have bowed down in front of it.
04:05 All it demands is your surrender. All it
04:09 demands is your call for help. You have to first
04:13 see that you are stuck and being what you are,
04:17 you cannot help yourself. That all the methods and plans
04:21 and cleverness devised by you has failed, is failing
04:25 and is condemned to fail. Once you have seen
04:29 the utter futility of all your effort, that is when you
04:33 surrender. In fact, seeing the foolishness of your
04:37 ways, seeing
04:41 the ineffectiveness of all your
04:45 planning and cunningness
04:49 is the entrance
04:53 into spirituality, is the advent of surrender.
04:57 Are you getting it?
05:01 So, let's be just a little more honest.
05:05 Just a little more honest about what is happening.
05:09 What is happening every minute, every moment, right now.
05:13 In this honesty
05:17 there might lie a little initial
05:21 pain because when you will see, you will only
05:25 see that you are needlessly
05:29 torturing yourself. That will disappoint you, especially if you consider
05:33 yourself to be hale and hearty.
05:37 But kindly,
05:41 kindly let that disappointment come
05:45 to you. That disappointment is auspicious.
05:49 Once you are totally disappointed,
05:53 then you let go of your hopes.
05:57 Your hopes from yourself. That is
06:01 surrender.
