00:05We've got Sheryl Crow in studio.
00:07And we explain Metro Boomin's mini-hits.
00:09It's Friday, April 12th, and I gotta get on the road to Coachella, but that doesn't
00:17stop the news from happening and a whole crop of new music.
00:20Let's jump into our Friday Music Guide.
00:28Dua Lipa's bringing us one step closer to radical optimism with Illusion.
00:40More new music throughout the show, but for now, our top story.
00:43Something is in the air because the girls are fighting.
00:47Let's break it down.
00:48It's been Azalea Banks vs. Stoichi online since Stoichi posted this IG asking her followers
00:53what her fandom should be called, to which Banks replied, definitely should call them
00:58And Dochi wasn't going to let that slide, replying,
01:14The feuding was far from over.
01:16What is the tea?
01:17The girls are fighting!
01:19No!
01:20Azalea Banks tweeted insinuating Dochi paid for her streams, accused her of being homophobic,
01:26called her ugly, and brought up her skin tone.
01:28Dochi went off on IG ending her clapback by saying,
01:51Zayn Malik fans can rejoice.
01:53They no longer have to feel alienated.
01:55His new single is here.
02:01And he's already dropped a live performance of the new hit.
02:11The desert is open for business.
02:13And with Weekend 1 of Coachella kicking off, we're telling you what you can expect
02:17from one of music's biggest weekends.
02:20Cause bitch, I said what I said.
02:22I'd rather be famous instead.
02:24Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator, and Lana Del Rey are the weekend's headliners,
02:29with a special super-hyped appearance by No Doubt.
02:34But the excitement doesn't stop there.
02:36Latin music is bigger than ever at the fest, with Peso Pluma taking the stage,
02:40and we hear J Balvin has an epic set on the way.
02:43Un, dos, tres, lego!
02:47We can't wait for the weekend surprises.
02:49We'll also be at all the biggest parties hanging out at Revolf Fest,
02:53kicking it with Celsius, Neon Carnival, and so much more.
02:56Thank you, sweetie.
03:00Our full recap will be out on Monday.
03:03Sabrina Carpenter is energizing everyone with espresso.
03:07So you can't sleep if you don't know what that means, espresso.
03:12She said she wanted to give you something new before she takes the stage tonight at Coachella.
03:16Yes, I know I'm nothing new for you. Yes, I want a coffee booty for you.
03:21And our very own Rebecca Milzoff talked to Sheryl Crow.
03:25An album for me typically has been an artistic statement with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
03:30It's been curated. Certain songs didn't make it.
03:35And people would listen to it as a full body of work.
03:39Now with playlists, obviously, I could wind up on a playlist with Shakira and Brandy and I Spy.
03:45I mean, you know, this record didn't start out to be a record.
03:50It was just a bunch of songs I was writing after my kids would go to school
03:54and just grappling with artificial intelligence
03:58and just what that's going to mean in the future for not only artists, but for our kids.
04:04And I just started writing. And I sent all these demos to my friend Mike Elizondo.
04:10He's a great music producer. And I said, I don't want to produce myself.
04:14I don't even know what I have here. Here's five songs. Do you like them?
04:17Do you want to produce them? Like just make little movies out of them?
04:21And he did. And so I just kept going.
04:24Well, I met Olivia at the Women in Music, Billboard Women in Music, and I was a fan already.
04:32I mean, you know, I I listened to her stuff and I go, oh, my gosh, I can hear the Breeders.
04:36I can hear Blondie. I can hear I mean, she's got that real punk rock thing that I hadn't heard in so long.
04:45But then she has these great lyrics and these great hooks, you know, and so I was kind of impressed with that.
04:50And then I met her and very different than my situation.
04:55She came up in the business. I wasn't I mean, I was 28 when I first made it.
05:00You know, I don't even a school teacher and everything else. But I liked how grounded she was.
05:04I like that she seemed sort of out of, you know, with with regard to the fame thing.
05:10That wasn't her her major attraction, you know, just got to know her, really like her.
05:18I feel like she just keeps writing her truth. She's got an experience that backs up everything in her songs.
05:24I just just like her, you know, read for the full interview is on Billboard's YouTube.
05:30Another Coachella girly performing tonight.
05:38Chloe's here with Boy Bye.
05:46Metro Boomin is on top of the chart, so let's take a deeper dive into my homie from the south.
05:52Will Metro Boomin earn another number one album in anticipation of Metro Boomin and feature second collaboration project?
05:58We still don't trust you. Let's look back at Metro's Billboard chart achievements.
06:03This is Billboard explains Metro Boomin's journey on the chart.
06:06In the past decade, Metro has become one of the hottest producers and songwriters in hip hop.
06:11His Hot 100 breakthrough as a producer came with Future's Honest, which hit number 55 in 2013.
06:17Over the next three years, he produced 23 more Hot 100 hits.
06:21He earned his first number one on the Hot 100 for his work on Migos and Lil Uzi Vert's collab Bad and Boujee,
06:28which topped the chart for three weeks in 2017.
06:32Metro has produced 16 top 10 hits on the Hot 100, including The Weeknd's Heartless, which ruled for one week in 2019,
06:40and his collab with Future and Kendrick Lamar, Like That, which currently holds the number one spot.
06:52Metro is no stranger to collaborations.
06:54The Billboard chart topper worked with some of rap's biggest artists for some huge albums.
07:00In fact, he has seven top tens on the Billboard 200, including Double or Nothing with Big Sean,
07:05which peaked at number six in 2017, Savage Mode 2 with 21 Savage that reached number one in 2020,
07:11and his Heroes and Villains, which topped the chart in 2022.
07:15Fun fact, Heroes and Villains went on to claim 18 weeks at number one on the Top Rap Albums chart,
07:21the third most of any album in the chart's history.
07:252024 is already starting off strong for Metro.
07:28His album with Future, We Don't Trust You, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200,
07:32and 17 of its songs hit the Hot 100, including Like That with Future and Kendrick,
07:37earning Metro his first number one as an artist.
07:40Can We Still Don't Trust You become Metro's fifth number one album on the Billboard 200?
07:44We can't wait to find out.
07:46And I get to go! I can't wait to breathe in dust and dance to Bebe Rexha.
07:51I'll see you guys on Monday, but for now, one last entry from our Friday Music Guide.
07:56We've got one more Coachella girl to get to.
07:59Looks like you better spend the night. Looks like I'm about to change your life.
08:04Tinashe gets nasty, and oh my God, we are here for the new single.
08:09I've been a nasty girl. Nasty. I've been a nasty, nasty, nasty.
