00:00 >> I heard this initial thoughts on tonight's game.
00:02 >> We lost.
00:05 >> Five in a row now.
00:08 What do you think it's gonna take to turn this thing around?
00:11 >> Well, our experienced players need to play like experienced players.
00:16 It's pretty much plain and simple.
00:20 >> You draw any parallels from last year?
00:22 >> No.
00:22 >> No?
00:23 >> Zero.
00:25 >> Yeah, a couple guys returned to the lineup tonight.
00:28 >> It's good to see that Brody left in the middle of the bat.
00:31 >> Yeah, he's the same deal again.
00:33 You gotta give him credit.
00:34 He was basically one to five if I wasn't gonna let him play today.
00:38 And just took a swing and same deal again, so.
00:45 >> I saw Maxwell returning to the lineup as well in the DH role.
00:48 Was that just defensive alignment for Sam Myers in the outfield or-
00:51 >> No, we gotta protect Maxwell's hamstring.
00:55 So don't wanna run around the outfield and yeah, that was just sheer,
01:01 just so we don't put too many miles on his legs in the outfield.
01:05 >> Now, with the injuries that are simply mountains and
01:09 a lot of young players this year on the roster,
01:11 it feels like there's been a lot of changes in the lineup this year.
01:15 I think this was the 29th or 30th different lineup you guys have used this
01:18 year. >> Yes.
01:18 >> How challenging is it to get guys in a rhythm when things are changing like that?
01:23 >> Well, I mean, you get guys in a rhythm by playing good, taking good at bats.
01:27 Then you're getting a great rhythm.
01:29 But if you don't do that, I mean, you can have the same lineup all you want, but
01:34 you wanna play more, play better.
01:36 And there's a reason why we have 29 different lineups.
01:40 Trying to figure out, give guys opportunities to figure out if we're missing
01:44 something in terms of who we're playing.
01:45 And so, yeah, 29 different lineup to figure out how to score runs.
01:53 >> I noticed TJ was at third today as well.
01:55 Is that another kind of just try to spark some things?
01:57 >> Yeah, I mean, at this point, I mean, you're kind of trying everything.
02:00 Just kind of getting him to third base and Coach Laro over at first really wasn't
02:07 anything more to look into that, just a matter of let's change things up a little
02:12 bit and see if we can't spark something.
02:14 And baseball's a weird game, a superstitious game.
02:18 And at this point, there's really nothing that's not on the table in terms of
02:23 trying to figure out how to play good nine innings of baseball.
02:27 And I thought Peyton was solid and Zach was pretty good.
02:34 But I mean, you just can't, it's not sustainable in terms of,
02:37 we punched out a bunch of guys.
02:40 But they punched out six when ballgame seven won.
02:43 We punched out 17 of their guys and lost seven to one.
02:46 So it doesn't matter what strikeouts.
02:48 It's a matter of can you pitch and can you play good defense and
02:51 keep people off the scoreboard?
02:52 And two outs, nobody on in the ninth, and they end up getting two from it on two
02:58 balls that don't leave the infield, but it's self-induced by hit by pitches and
03:01 walks.
03:02 So those things usually end up happening when things aren't going good.
03:07 When things are going good, those are line drives at somebody or
03:13 whatever it may be.
03:14 When they're not going good, it just compounds.
03:16 And so every single at bat, every single pitch means something.
03:21 And ultimately, we gotta figure out how to play better baseball,
03:26 cuz we're not doing it.
