00:00 The sparks will soon be flying at the Paris Olympics and this is where it all begins,
00:06 the famous Olympic torch.
00:09 Organizers chose a sleek design for these games, but there's meaning behind every detail.
00:16 First off, it's perfectly symmetrical, a symbol of equality.
00:22 Then there's the ripple effect.
00:24 This represents water, which is a massive part of the Paris Olympics.
00:29 The opening ceremony, for example, will be on the river Seine.
00:33 The torch relay will also cross the high seas, making stops at several French territories
00:39 in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.
00:43 Let's hope it doesn't get seasick.
00:46 And then there's peace.
00:47 All those curves and rounded lines reflect the call for a more gentle world.
00:54 The torch is the work of Mathieu Lacheneur, one of France's most respected designers.
01:00 It's 70 centimeters long and weighs 1.5 kilograms.
01:05 It will travel across 400 cities before the games begin on July 26th.
01:11 When it's not on the road or the ocean, it will be here in special cases designed by
01:17 luxury brand Louis Vuitton.
01:20 So what do you think of the torch?
01:23 Hot or not.
