00:00 Gentlemen, looking for a tough clean fight tonight.
00:03 Remember to obey all my commands and protect yourselves at all times.
00:08 Good luck to both of you.
00:10 Joe Tessitore and Tim Bradley with you ringside.
00:15 Bernardo Osuna, our ace reporter.
00:17 The last time we saw Jared Anderson, Tim, was back in August.
00:22 That fifth round he had against Andre Rodenko.
00:26 40 unanswered punches as he hit the offense.
00:30 He went to the body incredibly well.
00:33 51% of his connects were body punches.
00:36 He landed 72 body punches.
00:39 What kind of offense do you expect tonight against Riyad Murray?
00:43 More of the same.
00:45 You know, the person that get off and be able to control the space
00:49 and control this opponent with the jab is going to have success.
00:54 Murray told us in the fighter meetings that he wants to take his time.
00:58 He wants to see what the young man knows.
01:00 He has experience and he wants to set traps on Jared Anderson
01:06 because he noticed what I noticed.
01:08 Jared pulls straight back.
01:11 A lot of times he does it with his hands down
01:13 and that's a perfect opportunity to land something significant over the top.
01:23 But Jared right now has Murray dancing already to the feints,
01:28 to the jab, to the aggression.
01:32 Murray's just being calculated, taking his time, looking for the opportunity.
01:37 Being extremely patient.
01:40 By the way, the height advantage, it's quite obvious.
01:43 Anderson's 6'4", Riyad Murray is 5'9".
01:49 Remember, Murray is a cruiserweight who made the decision to come up to heavyweight.
01:54 Of course, there's going to be a former undisputed cruiserweight
02:00 fighting for the biggest heavyweight fight of all coming up in May.
02:05 If Murray just sits there and takes that jab,
02:14 doesn't get his head off the line or counter that jab, take it away,
02:17 it's going to be easy pickings.
02:20 Easy pickings.
02:22 It's one thing to be patient, another thing to make patience look like hopelessness.
02:27 I don't think what Murray realizes is that Jared can do this all night.
02:36 He's not your typical big man where he needs rest.
02:38 And there's the angle right there.
02:40 You talked about that in your lap.
02:42 You said that angle would show up, that custom auto shift.
02:47 The only time you can do a move like that again is you need a man that's stationary in front of you.
03:03 And Jared has Murray already reacted to the feints.
03:08 You see he dropped his right hand right there when Jared feinted.
03:11 And look at the right hand.
03:14 Field day.
03:15 And if Murray doesn't come back with any offense and get any respect from Jared,
03:18 Jared's going to do this all night.
03:20 He's going to walk him down and steamroll him.
03:22 And then it won't be an all night. It'll be a short night.
03:26 Stop! Good job.
03:33 [music]
03:36 Where the bucket? Where the bucket? Where the bucket?
03:44 Hey, chill.
03:46 Keep doing what you're doing. Don't change nothing.
03:54 Don't change nothing.
03:58 [music]
04:01 Down in the lap for you guys at home.
04:08 Here it is.
04:09 Jared looking to get outside positioning, get on that angle.
04:13 Here you see him.
04:15 Nice shift right there from him.
04:19 That custom auto shift.
04:22 Just to try to gain an advantageous position to be able to land that shot right there.
04:26 That nice little body shot right between the seam of Murray and his guards.
04:34 Riyadh Murray was a non-participant in that first round.
04:37 Jared Anderson landed 12 of 69 punches.
04:41 Riyadh 2 of 12.
04:44 [music]
04:47 Obviously Murray playing defense.
05:06 Finally lands a single jab.
05:09 But he's going to have to do a little bit more to keep Jared off of him.
05:13 He's going to have to start mounting his attacks sooner or later because he's in the first round.
05:17 Jared clearly won and there is what he's looking for.
05:20 Timing.
05:22 Good timing right there.
05:25 You saw what happened. Jared leaned back.
05:27 Feet stuck in the mud.
05:29 That's his Achilles heel test.
05:35 You have said that time and again.
05:37 From day one.
05:38 A few fights ago I remember you saying if he doesn't fix it,
05:41 it will eventually cost him.
05:43 Maybe not at this level.
05:44 Not at this level.
05:45 But at some level it will eventually catch him.
05:48 However, he took a little bit of steam off that shot.
05:52 He anticipated it. He knew it was coming and it landed.
05:56 But he took a little bit of steam by just rolling his head a little bit on that shot.
06:00 See, and this is what I'm talking about.
06:03 Jared, he can do anything inside the ring.
06:05 Not only can he box from the outside and keep the fight simple,
06:10 he can also press, he can fight on the inside,
06:13 he can also switch southpaw.
06:14 There's so much to his game.
06:16 Murray knows he can't compete with him punch for punch.
06:31 So he's just depending on timing.
06:33 Murray told us in the fighter meetings, he said,
06:37 "The more he punches, the more opportunities that gives me
06:41 to be able to land something significant on him."
06:43 He's looking for Jared to just get a little lackadaisical mentally
06:48 and trying to take advantage of his mistakes.
06:52 You know that in UFC, they have a rule.
06:58 It's called timidity.
07:01 It's a rule set in place if there's no action going on,
07:05 you can actually lose points.
07:06 And I think that's a good thing.
07:08 I think that's a good thing.
07:09 I think that's a good thing.
07:10 I think that's a good thing.

07:18 I think that's a good thing.
07:19 I think that's a good thing.
07:20 I think that's a good thing.
07:21 I think that's a good thing.
07:22 I think that's a good thing.

07:42 >> Great now, Oye Inouye on ESPN plus junior featherweight undisputed championship against
07:47 Luis Neri.
07:48 It is always great to see Inouye.
07:52 Then on May 11th, the future hall of famer is back, Vasily Lomachenko against the recent
07:57 undisputed champion, George Camboses.
08:00 That's on ESPN live from Perth, Australia for the IBF lightweight belts.
08:05 Emmanuel Navarrete against a very game, Dennis Baranchuk for the vacant WBO lightweight belt
08:13 is May 18th on ESPN.
08:16 Finally the rematch of Catterall and Taylor on E plus, May 25th.
08:21 Also May 25th, the super middleweight sensation 26-0, Christian Mbile returns against Mark
08:28 Heffron.
08:29 And then we turn the corner on June and it is better BFBVal, the undisputed light heavyweight
08:38 championship of the world on ESPN plus.
08:40 Tiafemo Lopez will defend his title at the end of June.
08:44 Shakur Stevenson, who is ringside here tonight, will defend his WBC belts on July 6th as boxing
08:52 really cranks up.
08:54 The schedule really cranks up in May, Timmy.
08:56 >> Yes, it does.
08:58 And I'm looking forward to every single matchup, especially that Navarrete matchup.
09:04 >> Navarrete versus Baranchuk should be great.
09:07 That's in San Diego on May 18th on ESPN.
09:09 Let's check in with Bernardo.
09:11 >> I just spoke with Gary Riley.
09:13 How do you deal with the guy who's not engaging?
09:15 He says just keep the jab out there, be patient, don't rush anything, create your openings.
09:23 That is the task for Jarrett Anderson.
09:29 >> So maybe the next round, I would say, is he here to win or is he here to survive?
09:40 >> You start questioning it.
09:42 He did turn to us yesterday, Riyad did, and said in terms of strategy, he was focused
09:48 on being extremely patient, saying listen, Jarrett's a high volume guy, he's young, there's
09:55 going to be times he falls in, he's off balance, and he wants to time him, but he's stressed
10:00 at the right moments.
10:02 He may not get to those right moments, Timmy.
10:06 >> No, not at all.
10:08 Jarrett is being smart, picking his shots extremely well, keeping his distance, and
10:13 he's being defensively responsible as well.
10:16 >> Takes an angle and digs to the body.
10:18 >> After his offense.
10:19 And Jarrett has a high IQ, there he is, trying to take that angle again.
10:24 Nice back foot shuffle there.
10:34 See Jarrett is still a work in progress.
10:37 Everybody wants to send him to the wolves already.
10:39 I understand what he's saying, he's highly ranked as well, but he's still developing.
10:46 >> This is the finished product yet.
10:49 You develop as a fighter each training camp, and you want to see little improvements, little
10:55 increments of improvement every time out.
11:00 >> Placed that right hand to the body there, as Riyad was up against the ropes.
11:12 And now unloading with head shots against Murray.
11:17 >> Murray looking for that left hook.
11:19 That's his money punch right there.
11:20 >> But he was taking in order to give.
11:39 >> Nice counter roll right there from Murray.
11:46 >> Let me say something.
12:09 >> He's got a good shot.
12:37 >> That's the way to go.
12:44 >> And Jarrett Anderson.
12:45 >> Jarrett Anderson, number eight.
12:46 When you look at the top of that list, obviously Fury and Usyk, they're going to get it together
12:49 on May 18th.
12:50 Obviously, A.J. is sitting there.
12:52 It's a very top heavy list with older veterans who are cashing in big with so much on the
12:58 line.
12:59 And the promotional efforts of Anderson, the management team of Anderson, they know, sit
13:05 back, be patient, keep adding to the resume.
13:09 Then you step up in 2025.
13:11 And then as Bob Arum in top rank said openly this week, and then it's 2026, you claim yourself
13:18 as heavyweight champion.
13:20 >> I agree with that.
13:24 Top rank is the best in the business at building champions.
13:29 And again, it's not about getting there, it's about staying there.
13:33 You know, obviously there's work that still needs to be done.
13:39 Jarrett is developing.
13:40 He's getting better, better and better each time as he steps inside the ring.
13:45 >> Let's look at the total punches in this fight.
13:50 Murray has only thrown 33 punches.
13:53 Anderson has thrown 220, including 54 jabs thrown in the second round that according
14:00 to the copy box is a career high, 54 punches thrown in the second round.
14:06 Bernardo.
14:07 >> I just spoke with Samuel Dekuber, who is Murray's trainer.
14:10 He says, look, I want him to be more active.
14:13 He's got to let his back hand go.
14:15 He's had success with the left, but the right hand needs to be more active now.
14:21 >> Crowd would agree with that.
14:26 In that second round where you had that career high jab total of 54, it was 54 out of his
14:31 77 total punches thrown.
14:40 >> Murray is a human punching bag.
14:42 >> Yes.
14:43 >> With arms that he's not willing to use because he doesn't want to open up and get
14:49 caught.
14:50 >> Man, this is awful.
15:10 >> And it's finally a combination thrown by Riyad Murray.
15:24 >> Yeah, he's looking for any moment Jared gets laxed or out of position to be able to
15:30 land any offense, but he's not trying to create any offense.
15:35 He's looking for mistakes from Jared.
