00:00 Howdy from inside the garage at Texas Motor Speedway. I'm Alex Weaver and the
00:04 second mile and a half racetrack is on deck for our NASCAR Cup Series drivers.
00:08 A storyline for this weekend here at Texas is the rebound needed for the
00:12 Ford camp. A dark horse has not pulled into victory lane at all this season and
00:17 that's the first time since 2010 that they haven't won at this point yet.
00:21 Brad Kozlowski who's finished top ten in the last five races here at Texas is
00:25 hoping to change that narrative and find some speed for today's race.
00:29 I feel like when we get the balance right we don't have it on pace. You're always kind of
00:32 cheating to make the car find speed by making it not drive all that great and
00:38 then it's really hard to race so you're kind of back and forth on that but you
00:41 just need to show more speed. It looked like the 12, the 2 and maybe the 34
00:47 showed some speed so far but nowhere near where we need to be to keep up with
00:51 a couple of the guys there. The 5 cars were fast and the 54, the 11 and 20 so
00:57 we've got more work to do and every weekend is an opportunity to kind of
01:01 learn and build so hopefully we'll do just that. Now let's look at the Toyotas,
01:06 specifically 2311 Racing. They've had speed here at Texas Motor Speedway and
01:11 have found speed this weekend again. Bubba Wallace who is rolling off tenth
01:14 for today's race is hoping to use the momentum from some strong finishes over
01:18 the last several weeks to find victory lane. We've done a lot of work to come
01:22 into Texas, figure out what this new body is gonna take, first mile and a half in a
01:28 minute so yeah I'm excited you know I think cooler temps see how it plays out
01:35 for you know the race but yeah I'm looking forward to it I mean it's too
01:40 early right now so I'm a man of few words but ready to get on track just to
01:44 see I'm kind of analyzing things of how things should go what I need to do in
01:48 the car right now so we'll see how that translates over. And finally the
01:52 Chevys. The number one of Ross Chastain has never won on a mile and a half and
01:57 has had some strong speed at Texas, finished runner-up here last season but
02:01 knows the path to a checkered flag for today's race is gonna have to go through
02:05 his Chevy teammate William Byron. Beat William Byron that's that's the hardest
02:08 thing for all of us these days yeah just just tying it together we have to speed
02:14 it's about the balance and having the grip in the car to manage both ends
02:20 they're drastically different so how these teams and how Phil Surgeon my
02:23 crew chief blends a setup together to keep it off the racetrack in three and
02:27 four but still have grip in one and two is I don't understand how that works but
02:31 yeah just put it all together. They say that everything is bigger in Texas well
02:35 that includes the speed. Only one can find victory lane and take home our
02:38 version of a green jacket with a famous Texas Motor Speedway cowboy hat. Tune in
02:43 to the NASCAR Cup Series racing at Texas Motor Speedway 330 p.m. Eastern on FS1.
