00:04 The former House Speaker Pantalion Alvarez called on the AFP to withdraw support for President Bongbong Marcos.

00:24 to withdraw support for President Marcos until he is removed from his post,

00:28 the Armed Forces of the Philippines responded.

00:30 AFP remains to be a professional organization.

00:34 Our mandate is very clear.

00:36 We will protect the Constitution and we will follow the duly constituted authorities.

00:42 In other words, we will follow the chain of command.

00:45 And the President is our Commander-in-Chief.

00:48 Whoever the President is, that is very clear to all soldiers.

00:52 So, I also reminded our soldiers this morning.

00:56 The members of the military will remain true to their duties.

00:59 Our duty is to protect the Filipino people and to uphold the rule of law,

01:05 ensuring that peace and development will prevail throughout the nation.

01:10 We will continue to fulfill these responsibilities with integrity, impartiality, and utmost dedication.

01:18 The Philippine National Police is appealing to the AFP not to involve them in the withdrawal of support.

01:24 We will remain loyal to the Constitution and our loyalty is with our fellowmen.

01:32 Let us spare uniformed personnel in such political talks.

01:38 For Surigao del Sur Congressman Johnny Pimentel,

01:41 the former House Speaker's call is considered an act of sedition or rebellion.

01:46 Camiguin Representative Jordin Jesus Romualdo said,

01:50 "Criminal cases should be filed immediately against those who commit seditious statements

01:56 to avoid rebellion against the government of people who are in the military."

02:02 The PNP said that they will study this.

02:06 Our legal officers and other concerned units,

02:12 if those statements may be considered as seditious statements,

02:17 but for now, we will not be involved in such talks because we will see.

02:26 We will monitor the situation in terms of peace and security.

02:32 According to the Department of Justice, they are also studying this.

02:35 But they need to see the whole context of what Alvarez said if this is considered as sedition.

02:42 They also warned Norte Rep. Kali Dimaporo to be careful with his words.

02:49 Because of Alvarez's statements against the government,

02:52 he may be sent home for investigation by the House Ethics Committee.

02:56 In a message to GMA Integrated News, Alvarez said that he will follow the instructions of the House Ethics Committee and DOJ.
