Local citizens have been helping fire crews rescue artworks from inside the landmark as it burns.

00:00 A fire broke out of one of Copenhagen`s oldest buildings. The fire was first reported at
00:07 7.30 a.m. local time on Tuesday in the roof of the 17th century Old Stock Exchange. It
00:14 spread to much of the building and parts of the roof collapsed.
00:19 As firefighters battled the flames, passer-spies were seen helping rescue some of the country`s
00:24 most cherished paintings and artifacts from inside. The cause of the fire was not immediately
00:29 known. Ambulances were at the scene, but there were no reports of casualties.
00:36 The building, which is situated next to the Kristianosberg Palace, where the parliament
00:40 sits, is a popular tourist attraction. Police said main road in Copenhagen was closed and
00:46 people should expect the area to be cordoned off for some time. Several bus lines were
00:51 rerouted and Danish media reported huge traffic jams in the surrounding area.
