00:00 The Meralco was able to perform a rotational brownout in the middle of the red alert in Luzon earlier, but the service is back to normal during this time.

00:08 The Visayas received a yellow alert because of the thin reserve of customers.

00:15 The heat index that exceeded 40 degrees Celsius should not have accompanied the brownout, according to my interlocutors.

00:25 I was just sitting and sweating. When the brownout happened, it was already very hot.

00:32 How can you live if it's that hot?

00:35 It is a lock, that's the hard part.

00:39 However, due to the high consumption of electricity during this heat and other reasons,

00:43 31 power plants in Luzon and Visayas went out of service, so the supply shrank.

00:50 When the unscheduled power plants went out of service, the number of those on schedule was higher.

00:57 There were more than 2,100 megawatts of power plants that were not scheduled versus the 700 megawatts that were scheduled.

01:08 So the power transmission system was greatly reduced.

01:13 That's why the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, or NGCP, declared a red alert in Luzon and a yellow alert in Visayas.

01:23 The red alert means that we can expect to have a rotational power interruption anywhere in Luzon and Visayas.

01:32 The supply is low compared to the demand of electricity in Luzon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

01:39 It was extended to 11 p.m. later.

01:43 The reserve of electricity in Visayas is yellow alert or low from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

01:50 According to NGCP, they implemented manual load dropping last 4 p.m.

01:56 or temporary supply cuts in some parts of Benguet, Ambagyo, Ilocos Sur, Nueva Ecija and Aurora.
