XGIMI Horizon Max 200" Projector Review

XGIMI unveils the Horizon Max at CES 2024 world’s first long-throw projector with IMAX certification for the ultimate home movie nights at home. With its built in gimbal, this provides one of the easiest to install and position projectors that effortlessly adapts and even moves between your different walls. Aside from its increased 3,100 lumens brightness and 2000:1 contrast ratio, its new ISA 5.0 (Intelligent Screen Adaptation).

XGIMI also debuted the Aladdin, a 3-in-1 ceiling light that works as both a projector and speaker. This could be a great choice for smaller spaces or kids rooms, especially with its built-in games and automated lighting modes.

00:00They're taking it literally to a whole new level with ISA 5.0.
00:08So continuing on with our CES 2024 coverage, we're here with Xchema to learn more about
00:12their brand new projectors coming out this year, some of the cool technologies, and why
00:16you'd want one for your setup.
00:18At its core, we're seeing Dual Light 2.0, which takes a triple laser light source, the
00:25RGB, through a phosphor filter.
00:28This is designed to combine the strengths of LED light sources, which have rich color,
00:32but often aren't very bright, as well as laser light sources, which are bright, but generally
00:37struggle with color reproduction.
00:39There's a lot of science that goes into this, but essentially Xchema has developed a full
00:43color LED lamp that matches the wavelength band of the laser, so that it can deliver
00:48the benefits of both without canceling each other out.
00:52It's this increased brightness and better color reproduction that has given the Horizon Max
00:57its IMAX Enhanced Certification.
01:04Alright, so these aren't the most comfortable chairs, but they do light up, so I can kind
01:07of forgive it, I guess.
01:09We've seen ISA previously, but they're taking it literally to a whole new level with ISA 5.0.
01:16One of the coolest things is that we have a built-in gimbal here, so we have controls
01:20built in, just using our remote controller here, we can just quickly move this, and then
01:24if you switch back to the screen, you'll just see how quickly I'm able to adjust the placement.
01:30Well, I think we should go check out the ISA 5.0 demonstration, just so you can see the
01:33gimbal in person.
01:34Sure.
01:39It's definitely some fun tech up in here.
01:40I'm excited to show you the gimbal in action.
01:43I see three buttons.
01:44Three buttons!
01:45Which one do I press?
01:48Alright, so watch that gimbal.
01:49It's going to automatically find the projection spot that we customized and programmed it
01:53to find.
01:57One thing I want to show you is just, you know, the Horizon Max up close, the gimbal
02:02in action.
02:03Obviously, it can rotate 360 degrees around this way, and then kind of can rotate all
02:06the way up if you want to have a slumber party with friends, and you want to be laying down
02:09on the ground and watch your perfect show on the ceiling, you can do that.
02:13And then really, you can mount it to a ceiling as well, so up here we have, you know, that
02:17one kind of flipped upside down, mounted from the ceiling, which shows a different bit of
02:20a different angle, different use case for consumers.
02:24Now, moving on from the Horizon Max, we're going to check out another upcoming release
02:29called the Aladdin.
02:31This is a short throw, 1080p, 60Hz projector.
02:34Certainly not as impressive as the Horizon Max, but its 3-in-1 design allows it to be
02:38more hidden and fit in tighter spaces more easily.
02:41This is a ceiling light, a smart projector, and a speaker, and it doesn't take up much
02:45more space than a traditional light fixture.
02:48So, I see the projector facing this way, but how are we getting an image over here?
02:54It looks like a ceiling light, doesn't it?
02:55I was going to say that was a ceiling light, but now I'm seeing something illuminating
02:58out of the front there.
02:59Oh, yeah.
03:02Can you see it turned on?
03:03Absolutely.
03:04It turned on here.
03:06Pretty bright.
03:07Yeah.
03:08You can adjust the brightness on the projector so you can dim it a little bit.
03:10I'm going to show you the warm.
03:11So we have cool, and now we're going to go to warm.
03:15It's bringing just a little bit of brightness into the room.
03:17That's pretty cool.
03:18And then back to cool, which is cool.
03:19No pun intended.
03:20Yeah.
03:24The other really cool thing about this is because the light is projecting from above
03:28and downwards, if children wanted to interact with this and be like, oh, how tall am I compared
03:32to a penguin?
03:33They don't have to worry about the light shining in their eyes and obstacle avoidance and all
03:37of that because it's a little bit more safe up there.
03:41I'm also noticing that we have some Nintendo Switch stuff.
03:45We do.
03:46So XJimmy actually created Suica Game, which is an exciting game for Nintendo Switch.
03:51So it's very addicting.
03:52How many hours have you played so far?
03:54I can't disclose that information.
03:58Is this going on like a timer or do I just have to be strategic about it?
04:01You just got to be strategic about it.
04:05I haven't seen that one before.
04:07All right.
04:08This is super addicting, but I got to get out of here.
04:09We can't wait to see these in 2024.
04:11So stay tuned for our full reviews.
04:13And until the next one, we'll catch you later.
