Wire, Leeds: Popular nightclub announces closure after 18 years

Leeds nightclub Wire has announced its closure after 18 years.
Writing on Instagram, the owners of the Call Lane venue said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Wire on Sunday June 2."

00:10 A well-known Leeds nightclub has announced its closure after 18 years in business.

00:19 "It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of The Wire on Sunday, June 2nd.
00:25 Since reopening after the pandemic, the UK nightlife industry has been under immense pressure,
00:32 which we have not been immune to.
00:34 The cost of living crisis and changing lifestyle choices,
00:38 coinciding with other looming commercial challenges unique to the venue,
00:42 have gradually led to the unavoidable outcome that the club can no longer continue as a viable business.
00:49 We are grateful for the past 18 years,
00:51 and our mission to create an underground electronic music venue dedicated to drum and bass, house and techno,
00:57 that Leeds can be proud of, has been well and truly achieved."
