Westfield shopping centre reopens after fatal stabbings

One week since six people were murdered in a stabbing attack at Westfield Bondi junction shopping centre. People are returning to the centre, as they try to move on, while still honouring the victims.

00:00 Customers have returned to Westfield Bondi Junction for weekend shopping, the first time
00:06 since the horrific stabbing attack occurred here a week ago.
00:10 Six people were killed and many others were injured inside the shopping centre.
00:15 Businesses reopened here for the first time yesterday and customers who were here said
00:19 it was an eerie feeling being back at the site of such a horrific crime.
00:24 But it hasn't been a complete return to normal.
00:27 No music is playing inside the shopping centre and there are also no ads on display.
00:33 Instead there are images of black ribbons throughout the centre in honour of those who
00:37 were tragically killed.
00:39 Security has also been increased.
00:41 Guards are now wearing stab-proof vests and local police and mental health volunteers
00:46 are also on hand.
00:48 The nine-month-old baby who was stabbed in the attack remains in a stable condition at
00:53 Sydney Children's Hospital.
00:55 Security guard Mohammad Taha is also recovering well from his stomach wounds.

01:03 He has been granted permanent residency to stay in Australia by the federal government.
01:08 Mr Taha is from Pakistan and no doubt that extra good news has buoyed his spirits.
