00:00 a soldier gets sent to war with every accessory he could ever need here's your
00:04 look at the diamond select Marvel select Captain America collectors edition
00:08 action figure with accessories
00:11 [Music]
00:38 during World War two the frail but courageous Steve Rogers was injected
00:42 with experimental super soldier serum emerging from the treatment as the
00:46 pinnacle of human physical potential outfitted with a patriotic costume and
00:49 iconic shield he became the legendary Captain America though frozen in ice for
00:54 decades after the climactic battle cap reemerged in modern times continuing the
00:58 battle against evil as the leader of the Avengers this Marvel select action
01:02 figure of Captain America is based on his appearance in Marvel comics it
01:05 includes interchangeable heads hands and accessories and it features 16 points of
01:09 articulation the government may have made a perfect soldier but if you ask me
01:13 diamonds made a perfect figure just before of course we get a closer look at
01:17 the Marvel select Captain America I'd like to thank the folks over at diamond
01:20 that did provide this sample we could have a look at Captain America should be
01:23 available right now either in comic book stores or online depending on where you
01:27 get your majority of your figures the figure though of him stands almost
01:30 exactly seven inches is maybe just a hair bit taller than that but we're
01:34 gonna stick with seven for right now or the figures about 18 centimeters tall I
01:38 just used Reed Richards for an early review of size comparisons we might as
01:41 well bring him in now compare him along with cap size-wise they're about the
01:45 same I mean obviously Captain America would be a bigger and more muscular
01:48 character but height-wise they're almost identical the really neat thing about
01:52 this Captain America is that he has three different ways of being displayed
01:56 as he is right now kind of more the 80s classic look to cap more so my favorite
02:01 way of displaying the figure what I really like about the way he looks right
02:04 now is that he reminds me of the old Avengers video games the stuff that I
02:07 would play in the arcades but if you would like to instead display him in an
02:10 unmasked look then the figure also comes in clue with just the Steve Rogers head
02:14 sculpt portrait wise it's pretty good except for unfortunately one little
02:18 error here now obviously I would only just be pointing out the one that I have
02:22 on mine but can't help but obviously draw your attention to the fact he's got
02:26 this gross ugly little smear of paint just above his lip if not for that it's
02:31 a pretty good-looking likeness to Steve Rogers and can then be swapped out with
02:35 the existing one that we have right now now you could choose for yourself to
02:38 have the figure displayed which is the Steve Rogers but if you wanted to you
02:42 can also as well give him the harness piece this just basically fits over top
02:45 of the back of his body and he also comes included with a variation where
02:49 you can also give him as well a different belt the belt has various
02:51 different pockets molded very nicely here brown plastic this actually detaches
02:56 so instead of worrying that you'd have to slide this over the top of his body
02:59 or even just trying to detach the top from the bottom half it's just a case of
03:02 actually undoing this you can see there's a it's a clip right there a
03:05 little snap and that plugs in place there's a little hole on the bottom of
03:09 one of the pockets and just a clap clip in place like that to get that look
03:14 going I guess what we could really do though is first pick up Captain America
03:16 as he is right now stocking out of packaging which again of the three looks
03:20 is my favorite I just love the way they've colored the front of his face
03:23 there in the slightly darker coloring of the black of course you got the very
03:26 trademark a a there in the middle of his forehead nice overall sculpting of
03:30 Captain America it's in classic 80s cap for me of course he's got the little
03:34 wings there off to the side there as well he's got the ears sticking out I
03:37 always prefer more Captain America with his ears sticking out than what they did
03:40 in the Avengers movie where they just encased his head in an entire helmet I
03:44 just thought it looked a little ridiculous but of course you got the
03:47 nice paint there down below we'll say one thing is that some of the paint
03:50 isn't the cleanest like this the star that he has on the front of his chest I
03:54 feel like there's a few little areas that they probably could have gone back
03:57 and painted a second coat you can see kind of a little bit of the blue plastic
04:00 peeking through these stripes on the side are pretty good I don't really have
04:04 any too many problems with that even like the star on the back is a lot
04:06 cleaner than is on the front and a striping all around the mid torso of his
04:10 area is handled pretty good as well I don't know why he does have a hole on
04:14 the back of his body it serves really no purpose for Captain America I'm sure
04:18 they probably are using this mold for something other than cap where this
04:21 probably or may have used for an earlier Captain America that probably plugged on
04:25 to a display stand of some sorts it just doesn't serve a purpose here for this
04:28 version of him but again overall it's you got the buccaneer boots down below
04:31 those are nicely painted there as well I've got a little bit of scuffing off to
04:35 the side I mean I can chalk it up to the fact that his the bottom of his feet
04:38 clearly are dirtier but a little bit of that has made its way onto the side of
04:42 the soul it's just something that's a little bit more noticeable but paint is
04:45 pretty clean it's very nice and vibrant here in Captain America again if you did
04:48 want to change out the head it's just the case of when you know when you take
04:51 the head you have to make sure that the head and the neck are coming together
04:53 you just remove both them together and then you're gonna take yourself the
04:57 unmasked Steve Rogers head and that's gonna plug in place and if you're having
05:01 any problems doing this I didn't really have any problems earlier of course now
05:04 the cameras rolling just plug it in place you can also just heat it up with
05:07 a hair dryer take a few passes you should be good to go oh I just don't
05:11 like the fact it's got that little smudge right there I mean I'm not gonna
05:14 be displaying this Captain America with that anyways but it always bums me out
05:17 you know get a figure then it's got a little bit of paint problems I mean it
05:20 had to be of there I mean it could have been anywhere else on the figures body
05:23 it just had to be right there would be it almost looks like just like a birth
05:26 mark on Captain America again nice-looking head sculpt now what we're
05:30 also gonna do though again you could decide just to display the figure like
05:34 this if you wanted to but if to take the harness you basically just bring the
05:37 arms a little bit more close to his body and then you just wrap them around on
05:40 the one arm get it around on the other and then you literally just slide it up
05:45 his forearms I don't know really how often I'd really want to do this my
05:48 worry though is sliding up the harness the way that I am right now it's gonna
05:51 start to scrape the paint especially on the whites that would be one area where
05:55 I would imagine it would show up the most but you just slide it over top of
05:58 his arms and you just basically have it harnessed around the side of his body
06:01 like that to complete the look then you can also take yourself the belt just
06:05 attach it fit it around the front of his waist and then on the back you're just
06:09 gonna clip it in place now you won't be able to see it you'll just have to kind
06:12 of feel around until you get it in the right place and now you got Captain
06:15 America with his belt on it's a nice look for him I mean not that I'm
06:20 dismissing the fact that I just don't like this particular look for Captain
06:23 America I mean for what it is from a sculpting standpoint I really like how
06:26 this is delivered just I prefer really if anything to have the 80s Captain
06:30 America more so and again you can also display the figure with the shield the
06:34 one thing actually I forgot to show you guys we're just gonna go ahead he also
06:37 comes with a curled back or folded back top of his cowl that just fits over top
06:42 of the neck as well we're just gonna clip the head back in place now we have
06:46 the way he's supposed to really look I'm just gonna want to make sure it folds
06:48 down all the way I like the look of that now again you don't have to necessarily
06:52 have the straps in the back of his body unfortunately by the way I have it right
06:55 now it does leave a little gap space where obviously it doesn't look like
06:59 it's a continuation of his costuming
07:03 the only other thing that I would just say is a little bit of a nitpick but I
07:06 mean again you could just choose for yourself just to leave the harness off
07:09 altogether and then obviously the top part of his cowl would sit a little bit
07:12 more flush to his body that's it well the figure while you're also at it with
07:17 you the way he looks right now does come in clue with a circular shield again
07:21 nicely painted no real issues with the way they've painted it on the back of it
07:24 of course there is these straps that's gonna fit around his hands this is gonna
07:28 drape around his form this is gonna clip onto his hand he has closed fist right
07:32 now which isn't really gonna be helping us much of anything but the figure also
07:35 comes with other hands too he has some saluting hands and these are all kind of
07:39 really approached with a much more darker red than I was expecting he also
07:43 comes included with a pointing hand certainly if he wants to lead the troops
07:47 that's a good hand to go with and he also comes in include with a couple of
07:50 gripping hands now for this I find it's actually easier to clip this around the
07:54 handle first you just get the hands fit them around there and then you just push
07:58 this back now you have to kind of get it around the strap might be a little easier
08:02 to do it this way oh actually no it probably wasn't getting around his hand
08:05 this way we'll just clip get the peg underneath there we go there we go and
08:09 just sort of have it already attached onto the shield it saves you a lot less
08:13 work to try to fit the hand already on attached onto the forearm it's just a lot
08:17 easier doing it this way so we're gonna go ahead and remove the hand from the
08:20 provided glove pop that off then we're gonna take the hand line up everything
08:24 accordingly and then we'll just plug it in place I find again the easiest way to
08:29 attach it onto the shield now that's the circular shield he does also have the
08:33 more golden age shield that also goes really well with the alternate head
08:36 sculpt which is just down here and just getting the figure to stand right now
08:40 the other thing he also comes included with is kind of more the classic look to
08:44 Captain America which is obviously a much different one than we get with the
08:48 original starting figure head sculpt it has it doesn't have like the bottom neck
08:51 area for example it's done away with completely the black on the front but it
08:55 still keeps the familiar a I like that this one also has a little smirk on his
08:59 face a little smile that works really well if again if you're gonna be giving
09:02 the saluting hands and again if you want to change that one out all this work of
09:07 putting everything together actually what we'll do is just detach the hand
09:10 first we want to make sure because that's gonna be something that's gonna
09:12 go on to the next shield we're just gonna detach this from time to time
09:16 though you might notice that some of the paints gonna be flaking off I find the
09:20 hand specifically as I'm getting this there we go as I'm trying to get this
09:23 around the handle some of the paint just has flaked off on my fingers no biggie
09:27 no big deal by the way the shield also does rotate I just feel the need to also
09:31 point that out to you guys as well but again like this shield works basically
09:34 the same way it also does rotate so if you want to attach it onto his arm this
09:37 way you can then just twist the shield around it works a little bit better for
09:41 this to kind of drive home the idea of why even had to rotate in the first
09:44 place I mean being a circular shield no matter how you rotate it's gonna look
09:47 exactly the same this just detaches by the way by the way it's also a little
09:51 bit easier to if you find you're having a harder time to kind of get this around
09:54 the straps just detach this part of the shield and just put it around the straps
09:57 that way but what we're gonna do is we're gonna take off caps head the only
10:02 problem with this one is that I've noticed of all the heads this one is the
10:05 one that seems to want to detach away from the neck easily or I mean all the
10:09 other heads basically when you do take off one the neck goes along with it but
10:13 we're also gonna go ahead and let's just bring back the arms drop down the straps
10:16 on the back of his body I can't I don't know how often I really do want to do
10:20 this just be with the worry that I feel I'm gonna have of scraping the white
10:24 paint but again we're just gonna drop it down his gloves slide it off completely
10:27 this might be by the way the last time I'm gonna be doing this just plan to put
10:31 Captain America on the shelf just in his 80s look instead and then we're just
10:34 gonna detach the back of his belt and we're gonna slide the pocketed belt
10:38 completely off the figures body then we're gonna go back and go back to his
10:42 golden age or classic look to his head sculpt and that's gonna just go on to
10:45 the ball joint the only thing about that is just be careful you don't put
10:48 pressure against the side wings that he has just want to break those off but
10:52 just gonna pop that in place and then we're gonna go ahead and get back going
10:55 with the shield here just get the figure here to stand grab the shield grab the
10:59 hand of course well we need the hand as well for this and we're just gonna clip
11:03 the hands as we did before just around the handle area there get it underneath
11:07 the strap that the strap is always like kind of the hardest thing to get it
11:10 around and then we're just gonna fit this back onto his form and now Captain
11:14 America has the classic shield as well well I wouldn't be as interested I would
11:19 say to have the figure displayed with the unmasked as you know Steve head I
11:23 think I would rather probably get this guy a second time to have one displayed
11:27 in his kind of I say 80s but kind of more the classic look to cap and also
11:31 went in the vintage look because I think both head sculpts are really good at
11:34 hash also - I really would hate to think that I'm gonna have to put the shield
11:37 back with all the other accessories I really like the look of that shield also
11:40 as well now also - seeing as we already did I was mentioning saluting earlier
11:46 let's grab these saluting hand it's a very easy case of just popping off the
11:49 hand from the provide peg and because again like the figure does have a double
11:52 hinge on his elbow yes you can get yourself a saluting Captain America so
11:58 let's look at the figures articulation now for all that we're gonna have to
12:01 remove the shield anyways and just again we're gonna detach it maybe what we'll
12:05 do is we'll just put our regular hands just so I don't have to worry about
12:08 fighting with the one that I have there we go which is gonna grab the closed
12:11 fist close fist we'll just plug back in place getting though a closer look at
12:14 Captain America's articulation whether you decide you want to use this head
12:17 sculpt whether you want to use the Steve Rogers head or you want to use the head
12:20 that we started the review with it's all gonna work the same so he has a ball
12:23 joint that's gonna be on the head and that's gonna attach the neck but then
12:27 the neck also has a secondary ball joint so it can move up and down back and
12:30 forth and then the head itself can also do the exact same so there's a good
12:34 range of motion with both the head and the neck working collectively upper
12:38 torso is gonna be on a ball joint it doesn't move as freely back though but
12:41 it does move it gives you a little bit of a forward crunch you can also rock it
12:44 back and forth slightly and of course you can also rotate it in addition to
12:47 the rotation here there's also a rotation here at the bottom of his
12:51 abdomen right where it attaches to the waist the arms hinge out easily at 90
12:55 degrees so there are no problems there you can take the arms and rotate them
12:57 all the way around and that's the same on this side obviously here's a swivel
13:01 at the bicep just by the way quickly looking at this there's one other thing
13:04 I would want to point out to you guys is that the way they've transitioned some
13:07 of the blue into the white while he did say was pretty clean on the outside
13:10 there are a few little areas at least on mine where there's a little bit of the
13:14 bleed of the blue it's not it's not enough that it's gonna ruin the figure
13:17 but just something I noticed like it's always a hard thing to take one color
13:21 especially darker and have it very sharply cut off and then have white
13:25 below it there's always a section and this just happens to be the section
13:28 right here where there's a little bit of a bleed of blue I'm not like I said the
13:31 paint's pretty good other than maybe just the working of the star so below
13:35 with the bicep the figure does have a double hinge on the elbow and the hands
13:37 do rotate all the way around as for Steve's legs that they are on hinge
13:41 joints there's a ball joint actually working inside the thigh there you can
13:44 take the legs move forward move them back there's a swivel at the top of the
13:47 thigh I didn't notice though on this leg it's a little on the more looser side
13:50 this this leg here actually isn't bad at all like also hinges outward also the
13:55 figure does have a double hinge on the knee articulation also in the boot which
13:59 is good to see ankle pivot back and forth and also an ankle rocker I love
14:04 Captain America but you know to be all honest I don't have a lot of Captain
14:07 America figures in my collection there were a few Marvel Legends I had a long
14:10 time ago like years ago and I've just parted ways with a lot of my Marvel
14:13 Legends figures I'm glad that we're getting I'm sure we have gotten a couple
14:16 of caps before in Marvel select but I really like to look at this one the
14:20 thing I'm almost more more torn on is how I want to really have the figure
14:23 displayed we started the review I feel with the better of the three looks but
14:27 we're kind of wrapping up the review and also a very cool looking look as well
14:30 that I might just be tempted to get myself a second cap well I do again I'm
14:34 disappointed that the Steve Rogers at least on mine had a little bit of a
14:37 again a pain it looks like a birthmark it looks like a birthmark or a mole just
14:41 happens to be above his lip I mean honestly I'm not gonna be displaying the
14:44 figure with his head sculpt anyway so it's no real no real harm no real foul
14:47 at the end of it I'm either gonna be displaying the figure in his 80s look or
14:51 displaying him as you're seeing right now I often do get asked how come I don't
14:55 look at more Marvel Legends here on this channel and the thing about it honestly
14:57 is first of all Marvel Legends is expensive I mean if you look at the
15:00 price of what those things are selling for and considering that they just use
15:03 the bodies again and again they should be a lot cheaper than what you're
15:06 getting with Marvel select I mean diamond select when they're producing
15:10 their Marvel figures you can have a Captain America that's going for the
15:13 same price as a juggernaut I mean those figures should all be different varying
15:17 prices and yet diamond kind of caps things off no pun intended with all
15:21 basically the same price across the board now when it comes to Captain
15:24 America even though I'm sure this body has been used probably before and will
15:28 be used again it's likely gonna be used for another Captain America it's not
15:31 gonna be used for like a figure of this same size Captain America has a very
15:35 very unique shape body to him overly muscular little tapered off in the waist
15:40 that it's not just a body that you can just replicate and carry over for
15:43 another character diamond knows that so when they get to releasing a new Marvel
15:47 select figure of at least a Captain America you know it's not a figure that
15:50 we've just gotten countless times before speaking of countless times before I
15:54 don't have really a lot of other Captain America figures from Marvel select but
15:57 this might just be my go-to cat moving forward though it's not gonna be the
16:01 look that you're seeing right now in final looks I do prefer of the all the
16:04 three looks that he has the more 80s look that has the shadowing on the front
16:07 of his face and the circular shield though this one is my second favorite
16:11 and might be even tempted to get a second one of these so I can have both
16:14 looks on the shelf yes I am still a bit bummed that there was that smudging of
16:18 paint on the top of the lip for Steve Rogers but honestly I mean I'm never
16:22 gonna display the figure with that head sculpt anyways it's gonna go back in the
16:25 bag with the harness gonna go back in the bag with the belt it's gonna go back
16:28 in the bag with all the other hands I'm not currently using what do you guys
16:32 think of the Marvel select Captain America let me know down below in the
16:34 comments section and of the three looks that he has the unmasked portrait the
16:38 more vintage look that we're looking at right now or the more 80s look for cap
16:41 which way would you end up displaying the figure in also big thank you once
16:45 again to the folks over at Dime Select that did provide this sample of the
16:47 Marvel select Captain America that we could have a look at this review the
16:50 figure as of right now is available in either comic book stores or online so if
