00:00Our reserve, Mr. Speaker.
00:02General Reserves. Gentleman from New York is recognized.
00:04Mr. Speaker, I now yield
00:06one minute to the distinguished
00:08gentleman from my home state of New York,
00:10Mr. Suozzi. Thank you,
00:12Mr. Chairman. Mr. Suozzi is recognized.
00:14Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr.
00:16Roy, the histrionics and the
00:18hyperbole are not working. You just said
00:20so yourself. It's not working.
00:22We're about to pass.
00:24It's not working.
00:26It's not working.
00:28The bottom line is
00:30The gentleman will suspend.
00:32House will be in order.
00:34The bottom line is
00:36that we face
00:38issues that are very serious
00:40in our country, including
00:42the border. There's a crisis there.
00:44And we
00:46have to address it by doing
00:48what we're doing today and tomorrow
00:50related to the foreign aid bill.
00:52We've got to work together.
00:54We have to find compromise. We have to
00:56find bipartisan solutions.
00:58Every problem we face in our country
01:00is complicated. And you cannot
01:02solve complicated problems in an
01:04environment of fear and anger.
01:06People have to sit down and work with each other.
01:08I know Mr. Moore is a very good man.
01:10There's a lot of good people
01:12on the Republican side as well as the Democratic
01:14side. Let's work together and solve these very
01:16serious issues we face in our country.
01:18We had a bipartisan solution by one of the
01:20most ethical, honest,
01:22hardworking, conservative
01:24Republicans in the United States Senate,
01:26James Lankford. And we didn't
01:28go forward with that bipartisan bill
01:30because President Trump and others said
01:32we don't want to give Biden a victory.
01:34We want to campaign on the chaos.
01:36Mr. Speaker, I yield the gentleman an additional
01:38minute. Thank you, Mr. Nadler.
01:40So they said we don't want to
01:42go forward with that bill because we want to campaign
01:44on the chaos.
01:46We don't want to give a victory to the
01:48Democrats. It's not a victory for Biden
01:50or for the Democrats. It's for the United States of America.
01:52And for us to move
01:54forward as a country,
01:56we have
01:58got to work together. I see the people up
02:00here in the gallery today, people watch television,
02:02they read the newspaper,
02:04and they're sick of this.
02:06They don't want us fighting with each other.
02:08They don't want us with the histrionics
02:10and the hyperbole.
02:12They want us to sit down
02:14and negotiate a settlement.
02:16H.R. 2 was tried
02:18before. It didn't work.
02:20Let's say you get everything you want.
02:22Let's say Trump gets elected.
02:24Let's say that you win the House, you win the Senate.
02:26I don't want that to happen,
02:28obviously, but let's say you get everything you want.
02:30You won't get enough votes in the Senate.
02:32You'll still have to negotiate
02:34a bipartisan compromise.
02:36People have got to
02:38learn to get back to the
02:40basics of legislating and negotiating
02:42and working together to solve
02:44the problems that the people of America demand that we solve.
02:46Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and I yield back.
02:48Gentleman in the reserves.
