00:00 As commercial spaceflight rapidly develops, a new launch pad is being built at Hainan
00:06 International Commercial Spacecraft Launch Center.
00:09 This second launch pad will be able to launch several different types of rocket.
00:16 Take the No. 2 launch pad as an example.
00:18 It fits for 19 models of 9 rocket companies.
00:22 Incorporating a variety of rocket types has made building the new launch pad more challenging.
00:28 The interfaces in aerospace are really complicated.
00:31 We need to communicate with designers and match rocket models in every step during the
00:36 construction.
00:37 The schedule is very tight.
00:38 Usually the construction of one launch pad takes about three years.
00:42 But we aim to finish this No. 2 launch pad in one year and three months.
00:47 In 2023, China carried out 67 space launches, 19 of which were commercial.
00:54 This year, there is expected to be even more demand.
01:00 The number of rocket launches in China is likely to exceed 100 this year, with that
01:05 of private-owned rockets taking up 25 to 30 percent.
01:10 The installation of on-site equipment is expected to be completed by the end of May.
01:15 When it's finished, it will help to meet the increasing demand from the global space industry.
