The purple-striped jellyfish (Chrysaora colorata) can sting you

This beautiful creature, almost exclusively local to the central California region, can grow several feet in diameter, and it's arms will get even longer. Though they may be big, they are after small prey, and no threat to you and me. Still, the best idea is to give it plenty of space. The purple-striped jellyfish can make for a painful encounter.
