Leongatha woman Erin Patterson has appeared in court via video link where it was heard she was “content to wait” in prison for more than a year to have her triple murder trial held in her local community.

00:00 The woman accused of murdering three people and attempting to kill two others has faced court for
00:04 the first time since November 2023. Erin Patterson, who maintains her innocence, attended the
00:10 application hearing this morning via audio visual link from Dame Phyllis Frost Centre outside Melbourne.
00:15 Her barrister told the court that she was willing to wait in prison for more than a year in order
00:20 to have her trial heard in Gippsland. The magistrate, who offered to move the case to Melbourne or to
00:25 the Supreme Court, warned that she could be in remand for 14 or 15 months if she's determined
00:31 to have the case stay in La Trobe Valley Magistrate's Court. Court proceedings for
00:35 Ms Patterson's charges are expected to take a number of months, so I'll be your eyes and ears
