00:00 Boredom comes only when you have an idea of what would not bore you.
00:13 I feel that the only exciting things in life are achievement, video games and sex.
00:26 And situations have gotten me where I can have neither achievement nor video games nor
00:33 sex.
00:34 Now what would I feel?
00:36 Bored.
00:37 You feel bored only because you have an image of what would not bore you.
00:44 You decide in advance that if you can have exciting food, then it would not bore you.
00:49 Now you cannot always have exciting food.
00:52 The result is boredom.
00:56 Before you say that you are bored, find out whether you have ideas about what does not
01:06 bore you.
01:09 Anybody here who will keep silent and ask what is it that you find exciting?
01:19 And if you can list what you find exciting, why don't you see you have already listed
01:26 what you find boring?
01:30 Everything that you do not find exciting is something that you find boring.
01:34 But you will never ask, sir, why am I excited?
01:42 You would rather ask, why am I bored?
01:45 You are bored because you are excited.
01:48 If you are excited, then the excitement is going to vanish at some moment and then what
01:53 will be left with?
02:00 By seeing that excitement is not just excitement.
02:03 It is excitement plus boredom.
02:10 Yes that boredom is not just boredom.
02:13 Boredom is preparation for?
02:14 When you get bored, obviously you jump into boredom.
02:21 As long as you feel like playing this game, go ahead, play this game.
02:26 But if you are even semi-intelligent, comes a point when you want to drop out.
02:31 When you say that I cannot allow these to affect me.
02:36 Maybe I can just let them continue in their way.
02:41 Let them do what they want to do.
02:45 But I cannot allow them to affect me deeply.
02:48 I cannot allow them to become statements of my state or my self-worth.
02:55 Yes, of course, the movie is interesting, exciting.
03:02 Let the excitement be there, but I cannot allow myself to become the excited one.
03:07 Even in the middle of excitement, let me just remain alright.
03:13 Because the movie is going to get over and then I will be.
03:19 Why do I want to invite that?
03:20 Why do I want to inflict that upon me?
03:21 Even some boredom is not good.
03:22 It depends on, yes excitement is more exciting.
03:23 But you look at that, let the state do whatever they want to do.
03:24 Yes, there is excitement.
03:25 There is much excitement.
03:26 There is excitement in the movie.
03:27 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:28 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:29 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:30 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:31 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:32 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:33 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:34 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:35 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:36 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:37 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:38 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:39 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:40 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:41 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:42 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:43 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:44 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:45 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:46 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:47 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:48 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:49 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:50 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:51 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:52 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:53 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:54 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:55 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:56 Yes, there is excitement in the movie.
03:58 And in the statement, letting this happen, there are two things.
04:02 The wise man exists parallelly at both these levels.
04:07 Pay attention.
04:08 Letting things happen.
04:09 Now, there is the happening contained in this and there is the letting contained in this.
04:16 The one who lets is the self, the atman.
04:20 Where all the happening is, that is the body, mind, prakriti apparatus.
04:26 Both of these must be there parallelly, together, concurrently.
04:32 The central and the periphery both.
04:35 The witness and the world both.
04:39 So there is the game of excitement and boredom going on.
04:43 And then there is the letting also happening.
04:46 Pay attention.
04:48 Letting things happen.
04:52 Things happen in the world, in the mind, that is where all the movement is.
04:56 And letting is a thing of non-movement.
05:00 Both these beat together.
05:03 Are you getting me?
05:08 Is letting an action, is letting an activity?
05:10 What does letting mean?
05:11 Does letting mean that you are doing something?
05:12 And when things happen, then there are things happening, moving and letting is?
05:30 Not even opening the doors.
05:31 Let the doors open if they have to.
05:32 So I am letting myself dance.
05:45 Now there is beauty in this dance.
05:50 Dancing is hardly a thing of beauty.
05:51 But letting yourself dance is so beautiful.
05:53 Do you understand the difference between making yourself dance and letting yourself dance?
06:00 Making is mental and letting is natural.
06:15 There is nothing good or bad about dancing.
06:18 What matters is whether you are letting yourself dance or making yourself dance.
06:25 When you make yourself dance, then dance is nothing but heart.
06:31 We are in utmost excitement, mental state.
06:36 Then how to let that natural thing happen?
06:42 There is no method of letting things happen.
06:45 Letting things happen means not doing anything.
06:48 And method means doing something.
06:51 So there is no method involved in letting.
06:54 Letting simply means cessation of all control.
06:59 You are free and I am free.
07:00 You are free to happen, I am free to let.
07:06 You are free to happen and I am free to let you happen.
07:11 I am not obsessed with interfering, blocking, doing.
07:18 And you don't have to worry about somebody policing you, suppressing you or energizing
07:24 you.
07:25 You want to dance, Mr. legs, Mr. hands.
07:26 You want to dance, you dance.
07:32 You need not worry about anybody sitting on top of you.
07:35 You are free to dance.
07:37 Both of legs are free to dance.
07:41 Are our legs free to dance?
07:43 No, they are supervised by the mind.
07:47 Are the steps falling rightly?
07:50 Are the hands moving rhythmically?
07:53 Oh, is he not watching me?
07:57 And what is she thinking of me?
07:59 Am I synchronized with this music?
08:05 Now you are making yourself dance.
08:11 How can I quit?
08:15 Everybody else is still dancing.
08:17 Not the time to leave the floor.
08:22 Now you are making yourself dance.
08:28 Let the body dance.
08:29 When you let the body dance, this letting is total freedom for the body and for the
08:38 mind.
08:44 This letting is both movement and non-movement together.
08:50 You just explained letting and duality.
08:57 Let's leave this and talk about excitement.
09:04 If we look at the object of excitement, it is boredom.
09:11 You are explaining letting there.
09:14 Let yourself be bored.
09:16 When you are excited, then maybe it is not thought, but then it will be a tendency deeper
09:30 than thought.
09:35 In boredom, there might be thought.
09:38 There are times, yes, there are times when you do not know why you are bored.
09:43 You also do not know why you are excited.
09:47 You cannot place your finger on the exact cause.
09:51 That however does not mean that cause is not there.
09:56 Maybe you cannot think of the cause.
09:58 You cannot think of the cause because the cause is deeper than thought.
10:02 Then the cause is a tendency.
10:05 A young man looks at a young woman and feels excited.
10:10 Is there thought involved in this?
10:14 It is just the deep tendency.
10:18 So even if thought is not there, it is still the same mental thing, maybe deeper than thought.
10:25 Similarly, if you are bored, it is not necessarily because of thought.
10:32 It may be a tendency deeper than thought.
10:40 Of course, when the tendency is totally free, then the tendency gets suffocated due to absence
11:05 of resistance.
11:10 You need to come close to this.
11:15 All tendencies are sicknesses.
11:20 They exist and continue as victims.
11:25 You give them a touch of health, they go away.
11:29 You allow freedom to the tendency.
11:34 You give the tendency the freedom to exist, the tendency will die of suffocation.
11:39 Because the tendency exists only as the unfree one.
11:45 Having touched it with freedom, having given it total freedom to exist, the tendency will have nothing to complain about.
11:52 It cannot now continue as a victim.
11:54 She has come to assault me saying that I have come to kill you because you never let me do what I want to do.
12:08 And what do I say? Come, kill me.
12:11 She will not kill me.
12:13 Why?
12:15 Because I have let her do what she wants to do.
12:18 Now her complaint cannot survive.
12:20 She is gone.
12:22 But what do we normally do?
12:24 We say no, no, no, you cannot kill me.
12:27 And by saying you cannot kill me, you have only validated her stand.
12:31 What has she been saying?
12:33 You never allow me to do what I want to do.
12:35 At this moment, what did she want to do?
12:37 Kill me.
12:38 And you have not allowed her to kill you.
12:40 She says, see, this is exactly what I had been saying.
12:43 You never allow me to do what I want to do.
12:45 When she comes to kill you, just say, here I am, all yours, kill me.
12:49 It's only a hokey thing that you can say, that there is a tendency.
12:53 I allowed that tendency to get fulfilled.
12:55 Tendency is a desire, an unfulfilled desire.
12:59 You don't allow it.
13:00 No, no, no, you don't allow it.
13:02 You don't allow it.
13:03 Allowing is not the same as letting.
13:06 Allowing means, I stand as the gatekeeper, show me your admit card, now you are allowed in.
13:14 That isn't quite nice, is it?
13:18 I stand as the policeman, show me the money, now you are allowed to walk past.
13:25 Is that nice?
13:27 Allowing.
13:28 Letting is something totally different.
13:29 Letting means I do not exist.
13:31 I am out of your way.
13:33 Let things happen.
13:39 Is it like how you get used to letting things happen?
13:46 Blocking is something that one acquires.
13:50 Letting is not something that you can get used to or learn progressively.
13:55 Letting is your nature.
13:57 You don't cultivate it.
14:03 I let myself to do something which is antisocial.
14:15 Not in thought.
14:17 Give yourself total freedom to indulge in whatever you want to do and then see.
14:22 Without resisting it, without even allowing it.
14:26 Just see whether the energy to still do it.
14:32 Remains.
14:34 All tendencies exist to get freedom.
14:42 Having gotten freedom, they disappear.
14:45 Ego exists because it loves the truth.
14:48 Having been touched by truth, it disappears.
14:51 Tendencies that are there, they are all nothing, they are nothing but unfulfillments.
14:59 All the incompletenesses that are there.
15:02 Freedom is total completion.
15:04 When you let the tendency be free to do its thing,
15:10 then the tendency loses its justification to exist.
15:15 Its very rationale for existing was that I don't have freedom.
15:23 I don't have freedom so I exist.
15:26 You said now you are free to do whatever you want to do.
15:29 It disappears.
15:35 Let go or is it not free?
15:48 [Student asking question]
16:07 The answer always is love.
16:13 Remember that whatever troubles you,
16:18 essentially is in need of love.
16:23 And between lovers, force and methods do not work.
16:33 You just have to trust that you won't be harmed by the other.
16:39 When the lover is angry, you do not respond by defending yourself.
16:45 And if you do that, that makes the other one even more angry.
16:48 That's why I said when she comes to kill you, allow yourself to be killed.
16:54 That is the only way of surviving.
16:57 If you do not know that, then you won't have any relationships.
17:04 Thank you very much.
