00:00Dakar 2003, for sure, my biggest disappointment.
00:12Sometimes it's bad luck, sometimes it's driving errors, but this time I think I really
00:17dominated the event.
00:18With a day to go, the Mitsubishi technical team decided to change our front water radiator
00:24because they had doubts about something.
00:26And in fact, we did a jump, which we do ten times a day normally, and after a rather heavy
00:35landing we had a water leak.
00:44And so the water leak, we lost all the liquids, we tried to repair, we lost half an hour,
00:49we started again, it was ok, then it leaked again, and there came a moment when we stopped
00:57a second time to repair, we set off again, full speed, and we had lost more than the
01:03equivalence of our overall lead.
01:05And that's when I said, ok, now we've lost the Dakar, we have to attack, and by doing
01:11so, to try to gain time because of the radiator, we broke a suspension.
01:25So that's the definitive end of the day, end of the race.
01:35It was quite hard psychologically because it was the first year that I really had a
01:39car that was capable of winning, I had to wait three or four years to get the official
01:43Mitsubishi drive, and now I had it, I always had victory in my hands, but technical problem.
