00:00 >> You mentioned Xavier Brown, just a few carries there at the end of the game.
00:03 What'd you like from him?
00:04 >> He showed what he had been doing in camp.
00:07 Kind of flashed as a downhill, kind of quick burst kind of guy.
00:10 He broke up a tackle, so encouraged by that to see that carry over and
00:14 just continue to add more to him as we go.
00:17 >> That a sloppy start to that second half.
00:19 >> Sloppy start, right?
00:19 Not the start we wanted, but two turnovers and back to back drives.
00:23 So we gotta grow from that.
00:25 You look at the start of the game with three and out, and then we got seven in.
00:28 We had some good drives and then start second half.
00:30 So we talk about playing fast, fast start, obviously we didn't achieve that.
00:34 But the guys did a good job of battling back, trying to get things back on track.
00:38 But moving forward, we can't do that to ourselves.
00:42 >> So pass to the sideline in front of the U of R bench to number three, Wicks.
00:48 Did he get loose with the ball?
00:49 I couldn't tell.
00:50 >> He did, I saw it on the replay.
00:52 They did a good job of punching it, but he got loose with the ball.
00:55 So that's one of the things we stress.
00:57 You talk about, look across college football, probably throughout the day,
01:02 you obviously saw last night, these first games, turnovers is always an issue.
01:06 >> A little jitteriness.
01:07 >> Yep, turnovers and penalties.
01:09 So I think we had one or two penalties offensively, which we don't want any.
01:14 So that was low, but the turnovers, we gotta eliminate the turnovers.
01:17 >> Without the benefit of film study, obviously,
01:19 how do you rate where your offensive line was today in running?
01:22 >> Yeah, I think they're in the same progression they have been the last
01:25 probably week and a half of steady gelling and coming together.
01:29 And they got tested today, Richmond,
01:32 they blitzed us more than we had anticipated, which is fine and great.
01:35 That's good.
01:36 We got good film to teach off of and make corrections off of that.
01:40 Get off to a better start, play with some more pat level.
01:43 But that's just those guys playing together and doing that.
01:46 >> Was it easier to counter that blitz and then settling to offense?
01:50 >> If it was, because of the run settled down.
01:52 And then we got a couple of explosive pass plays in some of those drives.
01:56 And they had gotten out of that, but then they came out the second half with
01:59 the intentions of trying to blitz us.
02:01 And we had some things there, we just turned the ball over.
02:04 >> The guys said that the touchdown catch by Paris was something pre-snap they knew
02:08 was gonna be there.
02:09 What was it?
02:10 And as a coach, did you know you have it right away?
02:13 >> Yeah, when I saw it, when we called and saw it,
02:15 again, there'd been pressures, a lot on third down.
02:17 It was third down the red zone.
02:19 And the good thing is we've seen that versus our defense.
02:22 So the guys naturally can relate to that.
02:25 And nobody peeled and covered Paris, so he's wide open.
02:28 >> And where's your confidence in him to catch that?
02:30 Cuz sometimes those open ones are the hardest.
02:33 >> He saw it kind of come, and he looked at it, my gosh, please don't drop it.
02:36 But no, that's one of the things he's done well throughout training camp.
02:40 Not only being feisty and trying to run the football, but
02:42 he's done a good job catching the ball as well.
