Duke wrapped up its first week of preseason practice with its first day in pads. Senior defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo and senior back Deon Jackson discuss the move to pads and look back on the first week.

00:27 So I know it was definitely exciting for everybody just to finally be back with
00:31 each other, practicing, working hard, going against each other.
00:35 I think we've had a very good week, we're building on something every day.
00:38 We're focusing more on conditioning,
00:40 trying to get ourselves into the best shape possible.
00:42 So I think we've been doing good,
00:44 the coach has got a great game plan and we've just been executing it.
00:46 >> I mean, definitely feel good to get the pads back on and everything like that.
00:50 Just being able to go full speed and
00:52 put everything that we've been working on, just put it all together.
00:55 We got a little bit, a little taste of the action and stuff today.
00:58 So I mean, hopefully tomorrow we get after it a little bit more.
01:01 It's definitely a good feeling.
01:03 The main thing for me, I'm just trying to get the time and
01:06 it's just getting the good chemistry with all three quarterbacks.
01:08 I'm impressed with how all the quarterbacks have been during this
01:12 little QB battle that we've been having, I guess.
01:15 It's been nice to watch them work and I can tell that they're all getting better.
01:18 Honestly, I think we've had a great first week of practice.
01:21 The chemistry is definitely a little bit further along than I thought we would have
01:25 been just because we have so many new guys and so many new pieces in the team as a whole.
01:30 With freshmen and transfers as well.
01:32 So I'm pretty impressed with how things have been going.
01:34 I feel like we're pretty ahead of schedule in my opinion.
01:36 I feel like we're gonna do good this year.
