00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:03 The NFL is on schedule, and don't you dare say otherwise.
00:09 The schedule release itself and Commissioner Roger Goodell
00:11 both express as much, with Goodell doing it slightly more
00:14 politely in an internal memo.
00:16 Quote, "Uninformed commentary that speculates
00:19 on how individual clubs or the league
00:21 will address a range of hypothetical contingencies
00:24 serves no constructive purpose and instead confuses
00:27 our fans and business partners, complicates
00:29 the operations of other clubs, and distracts
00:31 from the careful planning that is needed right now."
00:34 Now, while I'd like to criticize the league for muzzling teams,
00:37 it has worked for them.
00:38 From free agency to the draft to Goodell's basement,
00:41 we've spent more time discussing Tom Brady's trip to the park
00:44 than we have how the pandemic will
00:46 impact the football season.
00:47 And in that sense, aside from proving its massive popularity,
00:51 it also shows the L in NFL stands for lucky.
00:55 Somehow, the public aspects of their schedule
00:58 have not been derailed at all, when
00:59 if this had happened just a bit sooner,
01:01 there would have been no Super Bowl.
01:03 Remember when J-Lo and Shakira outrage was all the rage?
01:06 Look, I'm not mad.
01:07 I want something to look forward to.
01:09 Whatever the schedule says will be the best one
01:11 I've ever seen, just having sports on the calendar again.
01:14 And we know the league will be fine with fans, teams,
01:17 employees, and anyone else talking about that.
01:20 Lucky indeed.
