00:00 [crowd shouting]
00:02 - Okay, gentlemen, here's the belt line.
00:04 Anything below that, I'm gonna call.
00:06 You got your--you got all your instructions
00:08 in a dressing room. This is a title fight.
00:10 I expect you to listen to my commands.
00:12 Good luck to both of you. Touch 'em up.
00:14 [crowd shouting]
00:16 - A battle of two battle-tested
00:20 light heavyweights, Radovoi Kaličić
00:23 and Sullivan Bahara.
00:25 [crowd shouting]
00:27 [bell dings]
00:28 - Here we go! It's time to fight.
00:31 Black trunks for Hot Rod,
00:34 blue, red, and white
00:37 for Cuba's Sullivan Bahara.
00:39 [crowd shouting]
00:42 [crowd shouting]
00:45 [crowd shouting]
00:48 - Adding on to the story of the B's,
00:51 B-Bowl, and Better B-Av,
00:53 Kaličić has been in fight camps
00:56 with the likes of Better B-Av
00:58 and also Triple G.
01:00 Round one, this one's scheduled for ten.
01:05 As Hot Rod, Radovoi Kaličić,
01:10 looks to defend his WBA
01:13 Continental North America light heavyweight belt.
01:16 - Hot Rod, you see, he's got that open guard defense.
01:18 He uses that long reach, tall height.
01:20 Both these guys are big light heavyweights,
01:22 but Hot Rod is especially so.
01:24 Has a one-inch height advantage
01:26 and I think a couple inches in reach.
01:28 - Yeah, so far that feel-out part of the process
01:31 happening right now, you know,
01:33 they're just out of range of each other,
01:35 so they're looking to already close that gap.
01:37 See Sullivan taking those head steps back,
01:39 trying to set traps.
01:41 - Once again, welcome all of our viewers
01:45 watching on FUBO TV,
01:47 Canela, Fox DePortes,
01:49 and Roger Sportsnet in Canada.
01:52 Of course, ProBoxTV.com
01:55 and our ProBoxTV YouTube channel.
01:58 Our main event,
02:00 scheduled for ten.
02:02 In two weeks, we're right back here.
02:05 It is March 27th.
02:07 Ten-round lightweight fight in our main event.
02:09 Cuba's Joseph Adorno
02:11 fights the former WBA super featherweight
02:15 world champion, Jamaican Nicholas Walters,
02:18 who defended his WBA belt four times,
02:21 fought for the WBO title as well.
02:24 - That's one thing about Sullivan,
02:27 at his best, he actually has a very good,
02:29 sharp, educated left jab.
02:31 See him trying to find his range with it now,
02:34 against a taller ranger,
02:35 Kaleidzic.
02:37 - Nice jab there from Kaleidzic.
02:40 He's trying to use that long reach
02:43 to sort of establish that fighting distance.
02:47 You see, trying to keep Sullivan reaching.
02:50 See how the adjustments get made here,
02:52 as the round wears on and the fight wears on.
02:54 - Yeah, a lot of times those guys with that open guard,
02:58 with those arms out in front,
02:59 it can be tough to judge how far away you are
03:01 from your opponent.
03:03 Kaleidzic's doing a good job of just stepping out of range
03:06 and landing his jabs.
03:08 Nice jab there from Sullivan,
03:10 comes right back, does hot rod.
03:12 - Sullivan has also, I mean,
03:18 he also has a little bit of a rhythm as well.
03:20 Kind of those little half-step feints,
03:22 good attacks to the body from both.
03:24 (bell rings)
03:26 - Time!
03:27 (audience applauds)
03:30 - Dipping it up, hold it tight, all right?
03:47 And then when you're backing out, you're running good.
03:49 Maybe step, not too much back straight, all right?
03:52 Feeling good?
03:53 Nothing more, just keep, hey, get loosened up, man.
03:55 Just keep reading him out.
03:56 All right, don't be too tentative with this.
03:58 Just get it out.
03:59 - Set for round two of our main event of the evening.
04:07 That corner of the Cuban.
04:11 - Tranquilito, okay?
04:12 - First fight since July 9th of 2021.
04:17 That fight was against then 41-0 Zerdal Ramirez.
04:21 979 days ago.
04:24 (bell rings)
04:25 Round two.
04:26 Kaleidzic in the black trunks,
04:28 Fajeda in the blue, red, and white.
04:31 Regional belt is on the line.
04:38 - See hot rod getting active here early in round two.
04:46 Big swing and a miss there from hot rod
04:48 with the right hand at his top.
04:49 Sullivan comes down with a right hand to the body
04:51 down low, that lands well.
04:52 - And then he's gonna come down, and so far,
04:54 what I'm seeing, then come down to Sullivan's ability
04:56 to sort of start to try to negate that left hand of hot rod.
04:59 Hot rod is sort of dictating the tempo with that leg, right?
05:02 And then out in the sneaky counter right hand
05:03 over the top of Sullivan's jab there.
05:05 But it seems like that's sort of the paradox for Sullivan,
05:08 is dealing with that lead hand of hot rod,
05:10 who is sort of controlling the tempo
05:12 and the pace with it, and sneaking in those snap jabs
05:15 like that.
05:16 - Oh, nice counter by Kaleidzic.
05:19 - And that's back to Sullivan's own.
05:20 - And Sullivan didn't take that one.
05:23 - Keep in mind, Sullivan, 42 years old.
05:26 - Yep.
05:27 Finished in two of his four losses,
05:32 including the one I just talked about
05:34 against Ramirez a couple of years ago.
05:37 - Big over, oh, a lot of swelling around the right eye,
05:39 under the right eye, and then the right eye.
05:41 Under the right eye of Sullivan Barrera.
05:44 He landed a really big right hand over the top
05:47 of Kaleidzic along the ropes.
05:49 - And Kaleidzic, not bad to stand up high
05:51 in the middle of the ring, but against the ropes,
05:53 you want to make yourself a smaller target,
05:54 maybe get down a little low.
05:55 Hot rod didn't do it, and he paid with that overhand right.
05:58 - And Barrera, not a KO puncher,
05:59 but always very solid at the world-class level
06:01 with the right hand.
06:03 - Barrera was also stopped in the 12th and final round
06:08 in that much-talked-about fight
06:11 against Dmitry Bivol back in 2018.
06:14 - Guys, that eye is mad.
06:15 - Could that have been an accidental thumb or something?
06:17 - That could be a thumb.
06:18 - I've experienced that when I got thumbed once
06:20 early in my career.
06:21 I don't want to blame Hot Rod for a thumb,
06:22 because it could be an accident,
06:23 it could maybe not even be a thumb,
06:25 but it just has that look like maybe it could have been
06:28 some sort of thumb that got into the eye
06:30 of Sullivan Barrera.
06:32 - Yeah, that's strange for it to swell that fast.
06:35 - Yeah, and also the way it swells.
06:37 There's a certain kind of swelling when you get thumbed.
06:40 - Almost looks like it's an allergy,
06:43 the way it swells.
06:44 - Another right hand throw by Barrera.
06:45 I'll tell you, Hot Rod's got to be careful going straight back
06:47 and staying up high like that when he's going straight back.
06:50 - If you watch what Barrera's doing,
06:51 he's been setting up the right hand upstairs
06:53 with the right hand down low.
06:54 He's been throwing that right hand to the hip
06:56 since round one, and his ability to change that
06:58 and put it upstairs makes it hard to see where it's coming.
07:02 - And a few seconds ago, we saw Hot Rod
07:04 with two good body shots,
07:05 but he stepped straight back again,
07:07 and Barrera reached him with a right hand.
07:09 - That eye's an issue.
07:11 - Yeah, it's going to be an issue.
07:12 They've got to really work on that in the corner.
07:14 I wonder if the truck is going to be able to maybe find something
07:16 that could have caused that,
07:17 because that thing happened quickly.
07:19 - Sullivan needs to be careful with those lunging shots,
07:23 because that's how Kalajic was able to land
07:25 that counter right hand that backed up Sullivan.
07:29 [whistle blows]
07:31 [crowd cheering]
07:33 [crowd cheering]
07:35 [crowd cheering]
07:37 [crowd cheering]
07:39 [crowd cheering]
08:06 [crowd cheering]
08:08 - That's a good one.
08:12 That's a good right hand, you're going to see.
08:14 - That was a knuckle.
08:16 Bang, and there's that big overhand shot.
08:18 So both men finding the mark,
08:21 but it seems that Sullivan got the worst of it,
08:25 as that eye swelled immediately after that right hand.
08:29 - So a good start for Radavoye Kalajic in the black trunks,
08:35 Barrera in the blue, red, and white.
08:38 - And now Radavich with the good jab can really, really--
08:42 - Oh!
08:43 - Big right hand again by Colvin.
08:45 That's one thing about Haarat,
08:47 he stands too high up a lot of times.
08:49 - Especially when he's going backwards.
08:51 And I mentioned the power of Sullivan Barrera.
08:53 - Yes, indeed you did.
08:55 We got ourselves a fight.
08:57 - Another thing, Haarat has a good rhythm.
08:59 He seems like he's dictating the fight,
09:00 but he keeps taking some careless right hands.
09:02 - He's hurt.
09:03 - Barrera keeps looking for that right hand.
09:05 - Barrera's throwing fire right now here in round three.
09:10 - You know, Haarat said in his interview,
09:12 he knew that Barrera was gonna come in shape
09:14 and go for it, and here he is.
09:16 And that's the thing about the craftiness of Barrera,
09:21 he keeps going back down to that right hand to the body.
09:23 - His eyes swollen.
09:24 - Yeah, and then he changes levels
09:25 and goes with the shot upstairs.
09:26 Hard to tell it's coming.
09:28 - Chris, you put it perfectly, though.
09:30 22, 32, or 42.
09:32 If Sullivan Barrera's dialed in, he is dangerous.
09:35 - I'll tell you what else, though, man.
09:36 If Haarat keeps using that jab,
09:38 he's gonna make this really, really difficult.
09:40 If I'm Haarat, I'm just jabbing consistently,
09:43 not taking a lot of chances,
09:45 'cause that eye is gonna be a big, big issue
09:47 for Sullivan Barrera, and even the corner
09:49 might end up stopping it,
09:50 the doctor might end up stopping it.
09:51 - Soon that thing is gonna be 100% closed,
09:53 and he's not gonna be able to see
09:54 any of those left hands coming.
09:55 - Yeah, I think it's at about 75 to 80 already, guys.
09:58 - Yeah.
09:59 - Oh, we got a counter right hand.
10:01 - That's the thing.
10:02 You're not seeing the shots coming.
10:03 You only have one eye.
10:05 Haarat has to go to neutral corner.
10:08 - And that's one thing.
10:09 Even when you have a good chin,
10:10 when you hit with a punch that you can't see
10:12 with an eye closed like that,
10:13 it affects you more.
10:14 - Good team's supposed to send Haarat
10:16 to the other corner, the neutral corner.
10:19 - So both men hurt this round.
10:23 Another right hand wobbles Barrera.
10:25 - Yeah, that's the thing about that educated left hand
10:27 Haarat has.
10:28 It kind of gets Sullivan lunging in sometimes,
10:31 and he's able to counter over the top of it.
10:33 There it is again.
10:35 He's looking for that counter.
10:36 He missed it there, but that's what he's looking for.
10:37 - Kalaidzic said tonight, Paulie,
10:39 he expected a spectacular fight,
10:43 and so far early on, it is action-packed.
10:46 - Yeah, it's been fun so far.
10:48 - Very light on his feet, very confident
10:53 is Radovoi Kalaidzic.
10:55 - See, that's the trouble that Sullivan keeps having.
10:57 He's reaching with that right hand, falls forward,
10:59 and Kalaidzic is just waiting,
11:01 ready to pull the trigger on that right hand.
11:03 - It's a lotto shot, though, champ.
11:05 He's scored with it, he's looking for it,
11:07 he's kind of getting more desperate,
11:08 so he's going to keep lunging more and more,
11:10 and the way he looks at it, either he makes Haarat pay
11:13 or he pays for it.
11:14 He's at that point where he's still on the dice.
11:15 - Yeah, you've got to be careful not to go to the well
11:17 too many times.
11:18 - 10 seconds!
11:19 - Oh, big right hand from Kalaidzic,
11:21 and Barrera comes right back with his own.
11:23 - 31st pro fight for Radovoi Kalaidzic.
11:28 24th opponent with a winning record in Barrera.
11:33 - A little extracurricular for both men after that bell.
11:37 - Right now, just keep sticking, stay persistent with it.
11:46 Yeah, what's happening, and you're just pulling back.
11:50 How are we doing?
11:51 We're good.
11:52 Listen to me.
11:53 You have to let go of that focus.
11:56 - Big overhand right from Sullivan Barrera
12:00 has Kalaidzic in trouble.
12:03 And there we saw it going forward again,
12:05 like you said, champ.
12:06 - Reaching in.
12:08 Reaching in, you see Sullivan reaches in,
12:10 and boom, the automatic pilot there for Radovich
12:12 gets Sullivan reaching in, and he hits him
12:14 with the counter right.
12:15 - And that was the same sequence in the first round
12:17 that caused the damage to Sullivan's eye.
12:19 Over through the right hand, fell forward
12:20 into the counter right of Kalaidzic.
12:22 - Yeah, and it seems to be the two things
12:23 that they're looking for.
12:24 Barrera wants that over the top right hand,
12:26 and Radovich almost looks at it like--
12:30 Kalaidzic almost looks at it like
12:32 he's gonna set up that counter right hand
12:34 when Sullivan reaches.
12:36 - Black trunks for Kalaidzic.
12:39 Barrera in the blue, red, and white.
12:45 Big start, knockdowns scored by Hot Rod.
12:49 We are in round four.
12:51 This one's scheduled for 10.
12:52 It is our main event of the evening.
12:54 Mike Colvin, my powerful partners,
12:55 Paulie Mlanagi, Chris Algieri.
12:58 Wednesday night fights here on Provox TV
13:01 brought to you by SportsBetting.ag.
13:05 - Paulino Barrera did a good job
13:06 opening that eye up a little bit here
13:07 and then this round, but really,
13:09 that's--it's like fighting the tides.
13:11 That eye is gonna shut.
13:13 - Yeah, 'cause that jab of Kalaidzic
13:14 is gonna keep coming.
13:16 See, Barrera trying to keep in tight.
13:21 I don't think he's gonna be looking
13:22 for that big right hand any second.
13:24 Trying to throw from the right distance.
13:26 - Yeah, when you got a guy who's tall, long,
13:28 and like you said, educated left hand like Kalaidzic,
13:30 and you got an eye like that, really,
13:32 your only bet is to score the big shot
13:34 or get the knockout.
13:35 - Yeah, Kalaidzic just being smart, though,
13:37 trying to fight with that middle range,
13:38 using that snappy jab.
13:40 Also changing rhythm very well, Kalaidzic.
13:43 - And, Chris, I think we saw that approach
13:45 early in round three from Sullivan.
13:47 Knowing his eye is compromised,
13:49 he was looking for a flurry
13:51 that might do some serious damage.
13:53 - Yeah, but then again, he overthrew it a little bit,
13:55 got caught and dropped, so...
13:57 - You gotta have a bit of sense of urgency
14:04 when you know that your body is compromised,
14:07 but you can't overdo it.
14:09 - But you see--you see Kalaidzic.
14:10 He's biting on that body shot.
14:12 It is having--it's eliciting a reaction,
14:14 and that's why Barrera's been able
14:16 to land the right hand over the top.
14:19 - Yeah, you see Barrera will go to the body a little bit
14:21 and then try to bring that trickery
14:23 and use that same right hand to the head,
14:24 try to get Kalaidzic looking body
14:26 and not seeing the right hand to the head.
14:28 - Yeah, go body, body, change levels,
14:30 go low, and then throw high.
14:32 - The long-awaited Archer-Betterbiev-Dimitri Bivol
14:38 undisputed light heavyweight championship fight
14:41 set for June 1st in Saudi Arabia.
14:45 20-0 with 20 knockouts for 39-year-old Betterbiev.
14:50 Bivol, 22-0 with 11 finishes.
14:54 Final 30 seconds, round four.
15:01 - Kalaidzic looking very comfortable here in round four.
15:04 Starting to walk Barrera down
15:06 from corner to corner, rope to rope.
15:09 - And that snappy jab, there is again,
15:11 also changing range very well.
15:13 Barrera not able to reach him with the right hands
15:15 as much this round.
15:16 Good combinations by Hot Rod.
15:18 - And, Champ, that's exactly what you said
15:19 in our lead-up of this fight,
15:20 what Hot Rod needed to do to be successful
15:23 against the older guy, set a pace,
15:25 make him uncomfortable.
15:27 - Good finish to that round by Hot Rod,
15:30 Radovoye Kalaidzic.
15:33 - Feel good?
15:38 - Good. - All right, listen, man.
15:39 All you gotta do to get a little bit better right now
15:41 is smarter on that mid-range.
15:43 Bounce. You're not changing here a couple times.
15:45 You're too much, right? - Yeah.
15:46 - Just relax, all right? You're doing good.
15:49 - Is Father Marco in the corner tonight, as always?
15:55 Father Marco wanted to box, but,
15:58 well, Radovoye's grandmother, Marco's mom, said no.
16:03 But then Dad said okay to the grandson, if you will.
16:07 [speaking foreign language]
16:10 I got it, I got it, okay?
16:13 [speaking foreign language]
16:17 - Also, when it was-- when Radovoye's father--
16:22 when Kalaidzic's father was boxing, it was Yugoslavia.
16:25 - Yeah, it's very true.
16:26 - A lot of change, a lot of change.
16:28 - A lot of change.
16:30 It is a dream of Kalaidzic to fight at home in Serbia.
16:35 We will see if that happens in his professional career.
16:38 This is round five of our main event of the evening.
16:41 - Beginning of these rounds, Sullivan is very dangerous.
16:44 He's still throwing big shots with that right hand.
16:47 - Trained in Orlando for this one.
16:49 So just down the road,
16:51 one man coming from St. Petersburg, going west,
16:54 the other coming east from Orlando,
16:57 or the other way around.
16:59 - Oh, big right hand over the top.
17:02 - Yeah, I took the legs.
17:04 [cheers and applause]
17:06 - Kalaidzic, even with the damage to the eye early on,
17:11 overall, his performance has been very, very sharp.
17:15 - Kalaidzic cuts off the ring here.
17:16 He may--oh, no.
17:18 Sullivan getting desperate with desperate punches,
17:20 gets Kalaidzic off him.
17:22 Sometimes a tiger is backed up to the wall.
17:25 It'd be more dangerous.
17:26 - Yeah, a tiger's last stand can be dangerous as well.
17:32 - Oh, those right hands, chopping hard.
17:34 - He disguises them very well, a deceptive left hand.
17:38 Very good rhythm on the left hand there by Kalaidzic.
17:41 He's got a smooth, smooth jab,
17:43 changes rhythms with it well and hides the right hand behind it.
17:46 - He pulls that trigger nicely on the right hand.
17:48 Not a lot of fat on that punch.
17:50 Just lets it go nice and straight.
17:52 - And even on the counter, he just kind of just shoots it.
17:54 - And obviously gets knuckles in there.
17:56 We saw the damage that was done to Sullivan's eye
17:59 in that first round.
18:00 - And also the knockdown.
18:02 - And Hot Rod said, "If I want to move forward
18:05 "in my quest for another shot at a world championship,
18:08 "I need this win tonight."
18:10 - That body shot hurt Sullivan.
18:12 That's one thing that I'm surprised Kalaidzic hasn't focused on
18:14 is the body of Barrera, 'cause Barrera was stopped
18:17 by Zerto Ramirez to the body in his last fight.
18:21 - Down in the third, then twice in the fourth
18:25 in that fight back in July of 2021, Chris,
18:29 that you just mentioned.
18:30 - Oh, I was just going to say, Kalaidzic needs to be careful.
18:32 He's traveling into the right hand of Sullivan Barrera
18:35 too often.
18:37 - Barrera sees it.
18:38 Now he's going to get right hand happy again.
18:40 That keeps Barrera believing in himself.
18:43 You allow him to land the right hand like that,
18:45 it looks like you're taking control of the fight.
18:47 Maybe you're convincing him that you've got control of the fight.
18:49 He lands the right hand like that,
18:50 and the championship mentality of Barrera will come back,
18:53 and he's going to look to win the fight again.
18:54 - And that's something that we saw, I think,
18:55 in Kalaidzic's last fight.
18:56 A lot of times, he gets a little too comfortable
18:58 in fights when he feels like he's in control
19:00 and gets hit with big shots.
19:03 - Fourth fight, win streak with three finishes
19:06 for Kalaidzic since the fight against Petr Biev.
19:11 Final seconds of the fifth.
19:20 - Oh, counter, uppercut.
19:25 This time he came with the uppercut
19:26 instead of the counter right.
19:29 - Be ready.
19:47 You pull back, get your fucking hands up.
19:50 He comes on in, you run into him.
19:55 How do you feel?
19:56 What are you seeing out there?
19:58 What do you see?
19:59 Good? - Yeah.
20:00 - All right.
20:01 All he's doing is he's breathing.
20:04 - So there's that nice chopping right hand
20:10 that he's been hiding so well
20:11 that had Barrera in trouble early in the round.
20:13 Barrera coming back,
20:14 finding home for that right hand at times,
20:17 but that uppercut, man, what a nasty shot,
20:19 a good adjustment from Kalaidzic,
20:21 who was looking for the right hands all night
20:23 and then turned it and came up the middle.
20:25 Barrera did not see that shot coming.
20:27 - You know, it's a body language of Kalaidzic.
20:29 At the beginning of every round,
20:30 he comes out jumping in his corner,
20:32 ready to fight,
20:33 trying to put that mental press on Solomon as well,
20:36 showing him how fresh he is.
20:37 - He said, "I got to be faster, stronger,
20:39 and I've got to set the pace," Pauly.
20:41 You talked about that for Radovoi Kalaidzic.
20:44 Being a decade younger, set the pace,
20:47 push the action,
20:48 which he has done a good job of so far, partner.
20:51 - Yeah, exactly.
20:52 That's been one of the things
20:53 that's helped him this fight,
20:55 control it and dictate the pace,
20:56 and he sort of forced Solomon to fight his fight.
20:58 Solomon has had a little bit of a measure of success,
21:00 but it's been Kalaidzic's type of fight
21:03 that they've been fighting.
21:05 - 979 days since his last fight,
21:11 42-year-old Sullivan Barrera.
21:14 Round number six.
21:19 As Kalaidzic looks to defend his WBA
21:23 Continental North America Light heavyweight belt.
21:26 - Saying his corner is wet, but that's his own corner.
21:28 He's complaining about the corner, but that's his corner.
21:30 - You can see it is wet.
21:32 He slipped there.
21:34 - Barrera won't go away,
21:44 damaged or not.
21:47 - That is one thing throughout his career,
21:50 he has been in tough as well.
21:52 Combined record of the last 10 opponents
21:55 that Barrera has fought, 225 and 8.
22:00 They are truly two at the top of their game.
22:04 - Hot Rod just busy with those hands,
22:09 setting up the right,
22:11 looking for that uppercut again.
22:13 - Yeah, Hot Rod now has a good,
22:14 good establishment of the in and out style
22:17 that he's been using.
22:19 Barrera a little too slow on his feet
22:20 to catch up to him when he's backing up champ.
22:22 - He's also got Barrera fighting on every feint.
22:25 I think he's having trouble seeing from that eye.
22:28 So all those little fast switch movements from Kalaidzic
22:30 are listening and reaction from Barrera.
22:33 That tires you out when you're reacting to feints
22:35 and nothing's coming at you.
22:37 - And mental pressure.
22:39 If Kalaidzic cuts off the ring,
22:40 he might have even more success
22:41 because Barrera's only escape has been
22:44 just circling to his left.
22:46 - Which makes sense.
22:51 He's moving away from the injured eye.
22:52 He can't go to his right.
22:54 He's blind in that side.
22:55 The problem is that when he goes to his left,
22:57 he's going into the power hand of Kalaidzic,
22:59 that right hand, which has hurt him several times.
23:01 - Kalaidzic, family of five,
23:06 moved to the US
23:10 at age seven.
23:12 - Kalaidzic still getting tall on the inside,
23:21 though. He's got to be careful.
23:22 Those right hands are always waiting.
23:24 Oh, that uppercut again.
23:27 [bell dings]
23:29 - What you got to do? Just tap him.
23:46 Good? All right.
23:48 All right?
23:49 All right.
23:52 Good.
23:54 Listen to that.
23:55 Basic feet, things, movement, steps.
23:59 - Our main event rolls on.
24:04 We have the Cuban tonight,
24:12 and we have Cuba's Joseph Adorno,
24:14 who has finished 15 of his 18 wins.
24:17 He will face off against the former WBA featherweight
24:21 champion, the Jamaican, Nicholas Walters.
24:24 Two weeks, main event, Wednesday night fights
24:27 here on ProBox TV.
24:29 Couple of knockdowns.
24:33 Kalaidzic in control of this fight.
24:37 But Barrera in the blue, red, and white,
24:40 still on his feet, which makes him dangerous.
24:44 [crowd shouting]
24:46 - Sullivan's mouth is wide open, Jim.
24:58 - Yeah, and he keeps-- I saw him at that uppercut
25:01 at the last round, went back to his corner,
25:03 playing around with the jaw a little bit.
25:05 And now you see it hanging open.
25:07 That hasn't been the case up until now.
25:09 Body shot down low.
25:11 - I wonder if there's an issue with the jaw.
25:13 We had that in the last show or two,
25:15 couple of shows ago, right? - Yep.
25:17 - If a fighter break his jaw badly,
25:19 I want to see it. Let's keep an eye on that as well.
25:21 Observe the-- if Sullivan's gonna close that mouth.
25:25 - Stiff jab pushes back the Cuban here.
25:29 - You know, at this point, Kalaidzic is very much
25:35 in control, feeling very, very comfortable,
25:37 picking his spots.
25:39 - Yeah, a lot of clash of heads there.
25:41 I'm Kalaidzic's corner, man.
25:50 I'm telling him, "Be careful, keep that jab going."
25:52 - Yeah, he could basically just dictate
25:54 with the lead left hand and just force the--
25:56 the onus is on Barreira to make something happen.
25:59 - One thing about the big guys, man, they sweat.
26:08 We're getting a shower over here.
26:10 - And that jab of Kalaidzic has been
26:22 very accurate since round two.
26:24 - Yeah, it's pretty much-- it can take him home at this point.
26:27 You know, it's-- again, like I said before,
26:29 the onus is on Barreira. He's gotta make something happen.
26:31 He's gotta try to create something.
26:33 And coming over-- trying to just wait for a right hand
26:35 over the top of the jab of Kalaidzic is getting harder and harder
26:37 and harder and harder. Kalaidzic-- the rhythm on Kalaidzic's jab
26:39 is getting more difficult with time.
26:41 Plus, it doesn't help that Barreira's left eye--
26:43 right eye is-- - Completely shut.
26:45 - Yeah. - His nose is bleeding now, too.
26:47 But also, he's not setting up the right hands like he was earlier,
26:49 putting the right hands down low, changing levels.
26:51 - Round seven, under 30 seconds on the clock now.
27:03 - And if you look at the body language of Barreira,
27:06 he's got a lot of energy over that front foot,
27:08 which is why the uppercut adjustment from Kalaidzic
27:10 was a very smart move the last two rounds.
27:12 - Cuban against the Serbian here tonight.
27:19 And the Puerto Rican, Joseph Adorno,
27:22 against the Jamaican, Nicholas Walters, in two weeks.
27:27 [bell ringing]
27:30 [cheers and applause]
27:33 - Julie, take a deep breath. Relax.
27:53 Control your heart rate, okay?
27:55 Listen to me. We good. Yeah.
27:58 Listen to me. I want you to listen to me.
28:01 This is the eighth round, okay?
28:03 You got to fucking work. You got three more rounds.
28:05 Eight, nine, and ten, okay?
28:07 Listen to me. You got to push him back.
28:09 - Flash aheads.
28:11 - You know, and I mentioned that Barreira's coming up heavy
28:16 over that front foot, falling in a little bit,
28:18 and that's why we're seeing head clashes like that,
28:20 and also why he's been susceptible to the uppercuts
28:22 from Hot Rod on the inside.
28:25 [crowd shouting]
28:28 [bell ringing]
28:29 - Chris, brief fight, you said.
28:30 Hot Rod needs to make a bigger statement tonight.
28:33 Has he done so so far?
28:35 - So far, so good. He's looked impressive.
28:38 It would be more impressive if he could get the stoppage,
28:41 you know, do something that only a couple guys have done,
28:44 you know, the likes of Bivel and Zerto Ramirez.
28:47 Especially considering he has a man in front of him
28:52 who's 41 and 0 at the time.
28:54 - Yeah, and 42 years old as well.
28:56 - Right. And coming off the couch for, you know,
28:58 two and a half years. - Yeah.
29:00 - Stopped by a man who is 41 and 0 at the time.
29:06 Back in 2018, Dmitri Bivel was 12 and 0
29:10 when they met at the Madison Square Garden Theater.
29:14 32-year-old Kalijic, 42-year-old Barreira.
29:19 [indistinct shouting]
29:23 - That's one thing about the style of Kalijic,
29:26 when you got a guy who's tall and he's long,
29:28 he's got that open guard.
29:29 It's easy for him to turn fights into sparring sessions.
29:32 He stays at a distance, he keeps you off him.
29:34 - Yeah. That's a good point, champ.
29:37 And almost--it's almost to the point where Sullivan
29:40 has kind of resigned to accepting that as well.
29:43 - And the Ellison fight was very similar.
29:45 He really disarmed him, and then it turned into
29:48 a sparring session and eventually got him, but...
29:51 [indistinct shouting]
29:54 - Midway point of the eighth.
30:01 That eye looks like it's almost fully shut
30:08 from the jab early on in this fight,
30:11 thrown by Hot Rod, Radovoi Kalijic.
30:15 - Yeah, it's getting harder and harder for the corner
30:17 to get that eye open in that one-minute rest between rounds.
30:21 - Quick hands and a nice combination.
30:24 - Yeah, more and more you see Barreira just covering up.
30:28 Blood from the nose now of Barreira.
30:31 [indistinct shouting]
30:35 [indistinct shouting]
30:38 - The eye is compromised, but compromised
30:46 from a perfect punch early in the fight from Kalijic.
30:51 But his entire arsenal has been very impressive tonight.
30:54 Mixed things up very nicely.
30:56 - Those left hooks are giving Barreira a problem
30:58 'cause he cannot see on that side.
31:00 They don't have to be hard shots.
31:02 - And that jab, rhythmically, it's singular.
31:04 It's called "Sulphur Faints."
31:05 It's doubled.
31:06 It's followed with the right hand at times.
31:08 Mixes it, marries it very well.
31:09 Good counter right hand, left uppercut combination.
31:13 - And he threw to the body just before that, too.
31:16 - See Kalijic now taking more risks.
31:19 Feeling like he's beaten the fight out of Barreira
31:21 at this point.
31:22 - Yeah, blood coming out of the mouth of Sullivan
31:24 as well now, guys.
31:26 - Blood from the mouth, the nose, right eye closed.
31:29 [cheers and applause]
31:32 - Come here, buddy.
31:39 - Take a deep breath.
31:45 Guys, put eyes right here.
31:47 Take a deep breath.
31:48 I need you to take a deep breath.
31:49 We good, we good, we good.
31:51 Listen to me. Listen to me.
31:54 [speaking Spanish]
31:56 You're getting it. You're getting to him,
31:58 but I need three or four punches.
31:59 Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath.
32:02 [indistinct chatter]
32:05 - The replay of some of that shot.
32:08 That was a counter right uppercut,
32:09 left hook combination by Kalijic.
32:11 You saw Sullivan actually looking for the right hand,
32:13 but he went for it-- he went for it to--
32:15 it was one of his disguised right hands going for the chest,
32:17 so he could later come back with the right hand to the head,
32:20 but Kalijic said, "No, no, no.
32:21 I'm gonna make you pay for this one, too."
32:23 And so the counter right hand, left hook combination.
32:27 Counter right uppercut, left hook combination.
32:30 - Main event of the evening has reached round number nine.
32:37 Kalijic in the black trunks, blue, red, and white
32:40 for 42-year-old Sullivan Barrera.
32:44 - An impressive performance from the 32-year-old
32:52 born in Serbia, fighting out of St. Petersburg, Florida.
32:56 Barrera listened to his corner,
32:58 tried to put together a combination,
33:01 but at this point, can he catch Kalijic?
33:03 - That's the thing.
33:04 I mean, before you can put together a combination,
33:06 you've got to close the gap on Kalijic,
33:07 and Kalijic has that left hand working in overtime now,
33:10 you know, consistently, combined with his legs, especially.
33:13 See, a good jab is even better when you have good legs,
33:15 so you can kind of consistently measure the distance,
33:17 and that's what Kalijic has.
33:18 Kalijic has good legs and a good jab.
33:22 Really gives you problems when you're trying to close the gap,
33:26 especially when you've got to get desperate,
33:28 like Sullivan has to, if he's going to try to have a chance
33:30 to win this fight.
33:31 - And that's one of the things, the corner saying,
33:33 "You've got to put two, three punches together."
33:35 He really hasn't done that all night long,
33:36 and to ask him to do it this late in the fight,
33:39 with the damage that he's taken.
33:41 - And before you can give those instructions,
33:43 you've got to basically instruct him how to get close first,
33:46 you know, because you've got to get past that jab of Kalijic,
33:50 that rhythmic jab Kalijic has had all night,
33:52 if you're going to be able to put yourself in position
33:54 and throw those three and four-punch combinations.
33:56 And then, like you said, Champ, even if he gets inside,
33:58 he's not able to do it, the punch is too wide.
34:00 There it is, a little combination there.
34:03 - I was going to say, Kalijic is allowing him to come in now.
34:06 - Any chance he gets, though, if you do get in there,
34:10 the combinations are working, Champ.
34:12 - You can see, the punches are still heavy.
34:16 And this is something that should have been happening before as well.
34:19 - Well, we know one thing, power is always the last thing to go.
34:24 But at this point, round nine, one minute left,
34:30 not a lot of damage at all taken by Kalijic.
34:35 - And a good left hand, that'll sort of, you know,
34:38 prevent you from taking a lot of damage as well.
34:41 Good right hand there by Barrera.
34:42 - Barrera's having a good round.
34:43 - He's trying to turn it up, much like his corner talked about,
34:46 body shot from Hot Rod.
34:48 Oh, snapped the head back with the jab.
34:51 - And Barrera listened to his corner this round.
34:57 He's coming out, throwing punches, throwing more combinations
34:59 than we've seen all night long.
35:01 - Controversial split decision loss to Marcus Brown
35:09 was the first setback for Kalijic.
35:12 Only time he's been stopped was in May of 2019
35:16 in the title fight against Archer Beterbiev.
35:18 - But then again, everybody gets stopped by Archer Beterbiev.
35:20 - Exactly, all 20 of them, Paulie.
35:22 - I don't know if the corner's gonna be able to get that eye open
35:26 in between 15 rounds here.
35:29 - One round left, though.
35:32 - We'll see.
35:34 [crowd cheering]
35:36 - Last round.
35:46 He debates it, all right?
35:48 Fire, fire, gloves, gloves, gloves.
35:54 It's gonna create your opening, okay?
35:56 Use it like a jab.
35:57 - Last round.
35:58 - All right?
35:59 And then it might be a jab right.
36:01 It might be a two-three.
36:02 Just fucking give him the clothes, his gloves,
36:04 and find a target, all right?
36:05 - Last round be smooth. You're up.
36:07 - Yes, yes, I got you.
36:16 - You need a knockout.
36:23 You're not tired.
36:24 Three minutes to go.
36:27 [crowd cheering]
36:29 - Yeah, easier said than done there.
36:33 - You got that right.
36:34 - Three minutes is a big countdown now.
36:36 - Tenth and final round of our main event of the evening.
36:40 - Almost seemed like Kalajic took the last round off
36:44 to see if he comes out and see if he could try and close the show.
36:47 - Yeah, I guess that sense of desperation by Barrera
36:51 and combined with the fact that Kalajic probably feels like
36:54 he's way too far ahead.
36:56 - That's what his corner was saying.
36:57 They were like, "Keep it basic.
36:58 Keep it fundamental.
36:59 You're way ahead."
37:00 - Oh, a clash of heads there.
37:06 That was actually face to head.
37:09 - Yeah.
37:10 Feet to head.
37:11 - Our riders really utilized the jab well tonight.
37:19 - It was a stiff jab that compromised the right eye of Barrera
37:24 very early in this fight.
37:26 Jab back from Sullivan.
37:27 - And Sullivan has shown a lot of heart, a lot of grit.
37:31 - No surprise to you, Chris.
37:33 - No, no question he's a warrior, even at 42.
37:35 - And Kalajic knew that coming in.
37:39 There's a big right hand from Sullivan Barrera.
37:42 - And he's throwing it like he knows he needs a knockout.
37:44 You know, he's throwing it with all that weight behind it.
37:46 - His corner told him that.
37:48 Said, "We need a knockout here."
37:49 I like when a corner is being realistic with their fighter.
37:52 - Now, I think he's struggling even last round.
37:54 You know, with the combination punching.
37:56 He put those punches together last round.
37:58 I thought it won him the ninth round.
37:59 - That's the thing when you got a guy like Sullivan
38:01 who can follow the instructions.
38:03 He's a coach's dream in that sense.
38:07 - Just past the midway point of our tenth and final round.
38:10 Good shot lands for Kalajic.
38:17 - Good shot here as well, guys.
38:19 - Sullivan Barrera just landed a nice overhand right.
38:21 - The sweat showers better than the blood bath, though, Paulie.
38:30 - Yeah, I'll take the sweat before the blood.
38:32 - I don't know, I think it's a mix of both.
38:34 - Still got some blood.
38:35 - I just picked out some reddish stuff off my head.
38:39 It's blood and sweat.
38:45 - Right hand again for Barrera.
38:47 Answered by Kalajic.
38:48 - That was a nice counter.
38:49 - Oh, he's off his legs.
38:50 Don't look good.
38:51 - Can he get a finish here in round 10?
38:55 - If Kalajic didn't lose his footing there,
38:57 he probably could have.
38:58 Could have forced a stoppage.
39:00 - And now he looks worse.
39:01 - Oh, oh, oh, oh.
39:02 - And it's all over!
39:06 Kalajic has finished Barrera in the tenth and final round!
39:12 [crowd cheering]
39:17 - Beeble did it in the twelfth and final round!
39:20 Kalajic gets his 21st finish tonight!
39:25 - Hopefully Sullivan's alright, man,
39:29 'cause this is the end of a fight.
39:30 Sometimes a knockout like that at the end of a fight
39:32 is something you don't like to see.
39:34 - Yeah.
39:35 [crowd cheering]
39:45 - Rich, you said it would be more impressive
39:48 with a finish, and he scores it.
39:51 Sullivan Barrera making his way to the stool.
39:54 - I'm surprised they're getting him up so fast.
39:57 [crowd cheering]
40:04 - Let's see how Kalajic finished this fight.
40:09 - Yeah, the corner of Kalajic said,
40:10 "Just throw some punches at his gloves,
40:12 it's gonna open things up."
40:13 And that's what he did to get the finish.
40:15 - Yeah, you see that one-two hurts him right here,
40:17 he kinda falls in, and then the ropes keep him up,
40:19 and unfortunately he's taking more shots.
40:21 Maybe Gentile could have stepped in just a little sooner.
40:23 - Well, there was a salvo about ten seconds before this
40:26 that got Barrera in trouble,
40:29 and Kalajic actually lost his balance a little bit,
40:32 which allows Barrera to survive up until that moment.
40:35 [crowd cheering]
40:38 - I'd send Barrera to the hospital for observation.
40:42 - Yeah, absolutely.
40:43 - I like that, again, because it's been the tenth round.
40:45 - He's gotta go for the eye either way,
40:47 but also, yeah, I think, like you said,
40:49 taking that many punches at 42 years old,
40:52 going down that way.
40:54 - Here's a recap, you know.
40:56 The lead hand of Kalajic was pretty much the story
40:59 that gave him the advantage throughout the fight.
41:01 In round two, we saw the counter right hand right there.
41:03 That was the right counter right hand
41:05 that started the problems for Sullivan Barrera's eye.
41:08 He did land an overhand right right after that,
41:10 but of course, from that point on,
41:12 it was Barrera's eye that was swollen.
41:14 There's a big right hand in round three.
41:15 Barrera, Sullivan had landed the right hand
41:17 in the second round, so he kept looking for the overhand right
41:19 a few rounds later, but a few, of course,
41:21 same round, a little counter right hand again,
41:23 so the same success rate that they were having,
41:25 Barrera with the overhand right,
41:26 and Kalajic with the counter right hand.
41:29 - Yeah, I mean, and Barrera early on
41:31 was just dangerous enough to make Kalajic be careful,
41:34 go behind the-- work behind the jab and use that movement,
41:37 which actually, in turn, allowed--
41:39 or caused Barrera to take a lot more punishment
41:42 because Kalajic just got behind that jab,
41:44 was touching up that damaged right eye,
41:47 was putting his punches together.
41:48 More and more, as he got comfortable,
41:50 his corner called for him to let his hands go,
41:52 hit him on the gloves, make the openings appear,
41:54 and get the finish, and that's exactly what he did.
41:57 - And Sullivan hit his head on the ground there, too.
41:59 Luckily, Massimo Antomini, the referee,
42:02 caught him outside the ring apron.
42:04 - Sullivan finished in the tenth and final round.
42:09 These two guys have been friends for a long time.
42:12 Kalajic with the knockout.
42:15 Here's Jim Sorensen.
42:16 - Ladies and gentlemen, at two minutes,
42:21 31 seconds of the tenth round,
42:24 these two warriors have come to a finish
42:28 with your winner, by knockout and still
42:33 WBA continental heavyweight--
42:37 light heavyweight champion,
42:39 Radevoi Hotrod Kalajic!
42:45 [cheers and applause]
42:46 - Couple of rounds ago, Chris, I asked you,
42:50 "Is this a step up? Is this a better performance?"
42:53 And you said, "Well, it would be perfect
42:55 if he could get a finish,"
42:57 and he did it with 29 seconds left.
