01:37An act of commitment for a new support project for the adaptation of training and agricultural and forestry research to the challenges of the ecological transition was signed this Tuesday in Meknes between Morocco and the European Union, represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forestry, Mohamed Saderi, and the European Union Ambassador to Morocco, Patricia Lambert-Cusac.
02:05This act, signed by the International Forum on Agriculture in Morocco, represents the commitment of the two parties to support a new support project of 43 million dirhams and a duration of three and a half years.
02:21The EPTICAR project, financed by the European Union, aims at four main objectives. The first is the adaptation of courses to the challenges of the ecological transition and the training of a new generation of students, agricultural and forestry teachers, to the sustainable production system.
02:37The second objective concerns the consolidation of a collaborative research framework oriented towards the challenges of the ecological transition and climate change, while the third focuses on the dissemination of skills for and among stakeholders.
02:54As for the fourth objective, it is related to the design and implementation of an incubation system and training modules on entrepreneurship around production and sustainable consumption.
03:08This forum is also an opportunity to highlight the specificities and challenges of each region of Morocco in terms of agriculture. Special envoy of Mediun TV, Oumar Masbila, visited the pavilions set up for you at this CIRM.
03:25For our participation at the Moroccan Agricultural International Forum in the 16th session, we participated at virtually all levels in this very important international event.
03:42First of all, I would like to present our strategy for adaptation to climate change, which is currently the theme of this session. We have presented a little bit of everything we do in the region of Raatia-Pilets.
03:59It is the mobilization of rainwater, it is the encouragement of drop-by-drop equipment for the water economy, but it is also the introduction of new varieties that are more adapted to our region, given the climate change that has occurred in the region at the national level.
04:21This is our participation in the regional poll. We have also participated in the poll of land products to expose and spread our skills and potentials in these products.
04:36It is very important. We have participated with 42 cooperatives that work in this field to present. You know, we are a region where there is no electricity. We participate in the production of dates up to 90% at the national level.
04:54We participate in the production of apples up to 60% and we also participate in the production of roses at 100%, but we also have saffron at 40%.
05:07It is one of the largest agricultural regions in the Kingdom, with an agricultural area of more than 1 million hectares and an irrigated area of almost 200,000 hectares.
05:19The region is characterized by a very rich and diverse agricultural production, which gives the opportunity to develop a very prosperous agro-industrial sector. This is why the region has worked to put in place the ingredients to develop this sector.
05:34The region has put in place its agropole, which is an integrated industrial platform designed to accommodate agro-industrial companies in the best conditions. In the same way, the region has put in place a regional support fund for agro-industrial companies that settle in this agropole in order to encourage companies that work in the promotion of regional agricultural production.
06:02The particularity of our region, in terms of Siam, is that there is first of all the availability of water, thanks to the last rainfall, so the dams that exceed 90%.
06:16Secondly, there is a very strong leomar culture in this area, with more than 80% of production in the area. Thirdly, there are large projects such as the agropole, which is in a state of completion, and the interconnection that allows the water to be taken from the Oued Makhazine dam to the Al-Kharoufa dam in the course of implementation.
