During remarks on the House floor last week, Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) spoke about President Biden's foreign policy.

00:00 Mr. Speaker, as I wrap up our special order and my remarks, the world watched over the
00:10 weekend as Iran launched an unprecedented attack on our ally Israel.
00:15 This attack deservedly was met with scorn and contempt from governments across the world,
00:19 and it was reassuring to see such strong cooperation from the U.S., U.K., Israel, Egypt, Jordan,
00:24 and Saudi Arabia to intercept Iranian missiles to keep Jerusalem and its holy sites from
00:30 being completely destroyed.
00:32 I never thought I would be in that situation, to be in Congress, to be a part of legislation
00:39 this week, to be at this moment, meet this moment.
00:45 People watched across the world about these holy sites.
00:48 Look, I've said this before, and as I finalize my thoughts here, I think back to one of my
01:00 first meetings in my first term of Congress that I got to meet with the consulate general
01:06 from the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles.
01:11 He was in Utah, and I got a chance to sit down with him.
01:15 And I said, "Look, as I dig into this, I'm so impressed with the Abraham Accords."
01:21 You know, and candidly, I think it was President Trump and Vice President Pence's most significant
01:30 success in our foreign policy during their administration.
01:36 The Abraham Accords are diplomatic and trade relationships with Israel and Arab nations.
01:43 I mean, when you think about the years and years and decades and centuries of us trying
01:51 to find common ground and peace in that part of the, in that region of the world, we created
01:59 an opportunity, and the U.S. was a big part of this, to establish these relationships
02:05 with Arab nations and Israel.
02:09 These potential bellwether countries like Saudi Arabia could have joined on.
02:14 And I asked him, I said, "What was the, what was the, what was the recipe for success to
02:19 make that happen?"
02:20 And he said, "It came down to one thing, is that these Arab states, Arab Emirates,
02:25 Morocco, Bahrain, they knew the U.S. stood firm against Iranian aggression."
02:33 That was what he boiled the whole entire experience down to.
02:38 The U.S., these Arab nations knew that nobody in that region wants Iran to gain more influence.
02:47 They want to destabilize everything over there.
02:51 No, the whole region understands this.
02:54 Arab nation, Jewish nation, whatever.
02:56 They all understand that Iran wants to destabilize.
02:58 To have the U.S. as a presence, a strong presence, to make sure that the U.S. had Arab nations
03:05 back and they had Israel's back against continual potential aggression from Iran.
03:10 They, knowing that, they were willing to enter into these trade relationships that were potentially
03:16 treacherous because Iran doesn't want anybody to have a trade relationship, a diplomatic
03:20 relationship with Israel.
03:23 This is my number one biggest complaint with President Biden's foreign policy is to just,
03:30 "Okay, look, President Obama was going on the JCPOA, let's just start those talks back
03:36 up again and completely ignore the success that we had had to create peace in the Middle
03:41 East."
03:42 It has been something that every president has wanted.
03:45 President Clinton, you know, watching what he was trying to do, the absolute tragedy
03:52 of the assassination that took place during his time, every president, Republican or Democrat,
03:56 has wanted peace in the Middle East to flatly say and to overlook the reason why the Abraham
04:02 Accords were successful and to not take that type of same strength to Iran.
04:08 It was the biggest blunder, I believe, in President Biden's foreign policy approach
04:13 in that particular region.
04:15 And is it any wonder while we're sitting here today with unprecedented missile drone, drone
04:22 missile attacks directly on our ally Israel?
04:26 You have to stand up to Iran in order to promote peace in the Middle East.
04:32 You cannot have it all.
04:33 You can't have the entire pie.
04:35 You have to call it as it is sometime and cut it off.
04:40 The JCPOA should have never been reintroduced, should have never been reengaged.
04:43 It has not created any positive outcomes over in the region.
04:46 Can anybody disagree with that?
04:48 Are we better today in the Middle East than we were when we had the Abrahams, Abraham
04:53 Accords thriving?
04:54 No, we're not.
04:55 I think everybody knows that and anybody that's honest is willing to address.
04:58 If you want to be ally, Israel's ally, you cannot also continue to pander to Iran.
05:04 It is not the recipe for success.
05:05 And that's not just from the Israeli point of view.
05:08 That is from the Arab state point of view.
05:11 And I hope to impress upon the Biden administration to recognize that.
05:15 And that's what we're trying to do this week, putting several floor measures to hold Iran
05:19 and its proxy groups accountable for their actions.
05:21 We will continue to hold the line in supporting Israel and ensuring they have what they need
05:25 to defend their freedom.
05:27 Speaker, thank you very much.
05:29 And I yield back the remainder of my time to the chair.
