00:00 Okay, so basically the residents of Cornwall Road are really quite unhappy about this installation.
00:06 For a start, we weren't pre-warned about it at all.
00:08 I happened to just come home from work one day, one lunch time, and all the verge was
00:13 being dug up with a mini-digger.
00:15 When I asked the workmen what they were doing, they told us they were installing six charging
00:19 bays for electric cars.
00:21 All the residents here struggle for parking anyway.
00:24 It's an absolute premium spot.
00:26 It's just around the corner from the school.
00:27 It's a popular spot for dropping off and picking up school children.
00:32 We haven't got any off-road parking ourselves in all these terraced houses.
00:36 At the moment, West Sussex County Council are saying that they did do a public consultation,
00:42 and all that was was a leaflet that went through people's doors, which none of us received,
00:46 none of us saw, and it was also online, and that wasn't really satisfactory.
00:52 And that was a general survey, which wasn't really being specific as to where these points
00:56 were actually going.
00:58 Our main concern is, firstly, that the location is completely inappropriate.
01:03 There's lots of areas in Little Hampson where it could have been placed where it's not going
01:07 to encroach on people's parking.
01:10 Where they've got off-road parking, it would have been so much better.
01:13 And our main concern is, at the moment, West Sussex County Council are saying that, "Oh,
01:18 don't worry, we can carry on parking there."
01:20 They've still got to connect it all up and put the bays in, but there will be a time
01:25 when they will change the regulations and it will say, "Electric cars only," where we
01:30 won't be allowed to park there.
01:32 Obviously, some of us have got children, some are elderly.
01:35 We need to park near our houses.
01:37 We don't expect to park right outside all the time.
01:41 But it's just getting worse and worse around here, and it's just, we feel let down, really,
01:45 by West Sussex County Council that they haven't really consulted the residents.
