00:00 The NBA is reportedly set to begin investigating
00:03 online videos circulating of a maskless Kyrie Irving
00:06 at a birthday party.
00:08 This as Irving expected to miss
00:09 at least the rest of this week.
00:12 For more, I'm here with Corey Parson.
00:14 And Corey, you know, we're starting to find out more
00:16 about this Kyrie Irving situation.
00:18 And I think we know enough to say it's not a good look.
00:21 But you know, I'll say this,
00:22 the media, who Kyrie apparently hates so much,
00:25 has been more than fair here,
00:27 waiting until we find out,
00:28 being respectful to what could be going on with Kyrie.
00:32 But what isn't fair to me
00:33 is that his teammates now have to answer for this.
00:36 The organization now has to answer for this.
00:39 We are gonna need to hear from them,
00:41 and we need to hear from Kyrie.
00:42 - You know, Robin, I would agree with you 100%.
00:44 And before I start this commentary on Kyrie Irving,
00:47 let me commend Kyrie Irving for being a very charitable person
00:49 and I think that he does in the community is also very good.
00:52 But now let's talk about what Kyrie Irving is doing
00:54 on the basketball court.
00:55 - We've seen so many precautions taken in these seasons,
00:58 no matter what sport it is,
01:00 to be able to get teams healthy
01:01 and get them on the court and get seasons finished.
01:03 And for Kyrie Irving to basically go out
01:05 and do what he did, and I understand he's a grown man,
01:07 it's a family party, he makes his own decisions,
01:09 but we just saw James Harden and Dwayne Haskins
01:11 killed for something similar to this.
01:13 When we hold Kyrie Irving's feet to the fire,
01:15 he's going to play the victim and blame the media.
01:17 Mind you, this is the New York City media
01:19 that for the most part has been very understanding
01:21 to Kyrie in this situation.
01:23 When you just look at Kyrie Irving's history,
01:25 you know, he barely played at Duke,
01:26 and I understand injury's all part of the game,
01:28 but he forced his way out of Boston,
01:29 I mean, excuse me, he forced his way out of Cleveland,
01:31 he was ran out of Boston,
01:32 and you know, last season with the Nets
01:35 was not very good for him.
01:37 Then you see the comments that he made last year,
01:38 then you see him already not wanting
01:40 to talk to the media this year,
01:42 and then again, we have a season
01:43 where we're not even 15 games into it,
01:45 and we already have Kyrie Irving issues.
01:48 Everybody wants to see this super team in Brooklyn,
01:50 but it seems to me like Kyrie Irving
01:52 does not want to play basketball.
01:53 And I have a problem with that
01:54 because you're making over $30 million to do that,
01:57 and you put this team and this idea together,
02:00 and the NBA is trying to get this season done,
02:02 why is Kyrie Irving being a headache?
02:04 - Well, look, I mean, the situation,
02:06 you're allowed to celebrate with your family and whatnot,
02:08 but if this video's true,
02:09 we all know the current circumstances.
02:11 So the word selfish is gonna get thrown out there
02:14 because it could also delay his return to the team.
02:17 And look, I don't mind giving a guy his personal space,
02:20 as I said before,
02:21 but at some point you have to be a professional.
02:24 And the shame in it is,
02:26 Kyrie Irving is a brilliant basketball player.
02:29 You know, so much fun to watch,
02:31 and you wanna see him out there on the court.
02:34 But right now he's putting the onus on the teammates,
02:36 like I said, he's putting the onus on his friends,
02:39 the other superstar in Brooklyn, in Kevin Durant,
02:41 who now has to carry more weight on his shoulders.
02:44 - And listen, we're in a season right now
02:45 where like you said,
02:46 now when the Brooklyn Nets,
02:47 when they show up at the facility,
02:48 when they show up at the arena,
02:50 everybody has to answer questions about Kyrie Irving,
02:52 a brand new first year head coach
02:54 has to answer questions about Kyrie Irving.
02:56 This is a team that, you know,
02:57 a lot of people that work for Sports Illustrated
02:59 pick to win the Eastern Conference,
03:01 nonetheless, the championship and Kyrie Irving
03:04 was going to be the problem in my opinion.
03:05 And we're seeing that play out right now.
03:07 I hope that things work out for the best,
03:08 'cause like you said,
03:09 he's a very skilled basketball player,
03:11 and I do think he has good intentions,
03:13 but right now he is looking very selfish
03:15 and he needs to be called out for it.
03:16 - Yeah, and you know, look,
03:17 I'll give him the benefit of the doubt
03:19 until we get an explanation,
03:20 or until there's verification on all this stuff,
03:23 but it's not being too harsh
03:25 to ask somebody to be a professional.
03:28 And that's what I think people are starting to wonder
03:30 if Kyrie Irving is in fact continuing to be a professional
03:34 in the midst of this, because, you know,
03:36 he's not at work, and if he's other places,
03:40 people are gonna ask questions.
