00:00 Hey there, Fernando Ramirez for Sports Illustrated talking a little bit about
00:03 the Chargers first week of training camp and here are the top three storylines to
00:07 follow. Justin Herbert's first week of camp as an NFL pro, Melvin Ingram's
00:11 contract situation, and some of the key positional battles happening throughout
00:15 camp. Justin Herbert had a good week of practice though he did have some up-and-
00:20 downs and Anthony Lynn acknowledged that during Friday's press conference saying
00:24 that he did show some growing pains and he showed that he was uncomfortable at
00:27 times but that's good that is something he wants in his young quarterback to
00:31 learn so that when they go back to the film room they he understands what he
00:34 did wrong which is something that Anthony Lynn and Shane Steichen both
00:37 said is a positive thing because like we all know Herbert is a very smart
00:42 individual and he has a cannon for an arm which actually impressed a lot of
00:45 his teammates this week. Earlier this week it was reported by the Athletic
00:50 that Melvin Ingram was not happy with his contract. The defensive end showed up
00:53 for practice but was not suiting up with the rest of the team. He is owed 14
00:58 million dollars this season but none of it was guaranteed and if the due to the
01:02 coronavirus pandemic the season were to be cut short Ingram would not see the
01:05 rest of that money. So on Friday it was reported by NFL Network that the Chargers
01:10 and Ingram had to come to an agreement and so now he's practicing he's on the
01:14 field and he's already making plays. Last but not least the positional battles
01:18 there's some really good ones taking place right now at Chargers camp. At left
01:21 tackle you have Sam Tevee who was a team's previous right tackle but has now
01:24 been kicked out to left tackle and second year man Trey Pipkins. Then you
01:29 move to the wide receiver group and you have KJ Hill, Jalen Guyton, Darius
01:34 Jennings and many others vying for that third wide receiver spot behind Keenan
01:39 Allen and Mike Williams. Lastly for the running back position there's a big
01:43 battle going on for who's gonna be the second back coming out of camp. It is
01:47 Justin Jackson versus the rookie Joshua Kelly both of them making numerous plays
01:51 during training camp so it's gonna be interesting who Anthony Lynn and the
01:54 offensive group decide to go with. Anthony Lynn did mention that on August
01:58 27 the team will be practicing for the first time at SoFi Stadium. So for more
02:02 on that and more Chargers content continue following along. I'm Fernando
02:06 Ramirez for Sports Illustrated.
