Players To Send To The Waiver Wire
Transcript
00:00 Hey, what's up? It's Corey Parson, the fantasy executive here for SI.com, and it's time to
00:05 hit the waiver wire. But when you add new players, that means you have to drop some
00:09 players. Joining me now to discuss players to drop this week is SI senior fantasy analyst,
00:15 Frankie Tadeo. Frankie, let me ask you a question. At the quarterback position, who are you looking
00:20 to cut ties with?
00:21 Yeah, as much as this pains me, Corey, being a fan of the Auburn Tigers since the days
00:27 of Bo Jackson, I would be looking to actually cut ties with New England Patriots quarterback
00:33 Cam Newton. And I would be doing that if we look at his numbers, Corey, we see that he's
00:37 failed to surpass 162 passing yards in three of his four games this year. And then we see
00:43 he has an abysmal two to four touchdown to interception ratio. That is just not going
00:48 to cut it for fantasy owners. Now, I know his rushing production is where he's getting
00:52 his value right now for fantasy owners. But with dates against San Francisco, Buffalo,
00:57 Baltimore and the charges on the horizon, Cam Newton will have less than favorable matchups
01:02 to match that kind of production. Look to cut bait now and look to guys perhaps like
01:06 Joe Burrow or maybe even Justin Herbert off your waiver wire.
01:10 Interesting stuff. So let's get into some skill position plays. Now, listen, we are,
01:14 you know, almost two months past the draft. So a lot of times you draft people, you have
01:18 high expectations for them. But at this point of the season, Frankie, it doesn't really
01:22 matter. We got to go with people that's playing well. Now, give me some give me a running
01:26 back and a wide receiver, a couple of skill position players that may have been highly
01:29 drafted that you think it's time for them to see the waiver wire.
01:32 Yeah, I know a lot of people might not want to hear this because it's a predominantly
01:35 a popular team right now and a strong team. But I will be looking at the Baltimore Ravens
01:39 and 10 year veteran of Mark Ingram at the running back position. Corey, he's just not
01:46 cutting it from a fantasy perspective. He has less than six PPR fantasy points in four
01:51 of his six games, and he's failed to top 57 yards rushing Corey in all six games. And
01:57 I believe that the team is going to now look to start to depend upon J.K. Dobbins as well
02:02 as Gus Edwards going forward. We also know that Ingram also came out of week six with
02:07 a possible ankle injury. So we know that as you start to get up there in years, the injuries
02:12 start to mount and a guy right now that's owned by in over 90 percent of leagues. Mark
02:16 Ingram is a guy that maybe fantasy owners should start to look to drop or cut bait with
02:20 and at the wide receiver position. Corey, this is one that a lot of fantasy owners are
02:25 not going to want to hear as he's owned in nearly every league out there. And that would
02:29 be Juju Schmitz Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Listen, there was such high expectations
02:34 after his first two seasons in the NFL. And then everyone thought that after Antonio Brown
02:39 left the club that that Juju was going to become the man in that offense. But we're
02:44 seeing that that's really not the case. He has less than 10 PPR fantasy points combined
02:50 in his last two games. And right now, Juju Schmitz Schuster is not a guy that any fantasy
02:54 owner should be trusting with Chase Claypool emerging now as the big play threat in that
02:59 offense as well as Deontay Johnson. Juju Schmitz Schuster is a guy that fantasy owners are
03:04 owning, but he's becoming an unreliable, untrustworthy player that fantasy owners, they should look
03:09 to be dropping them.
