00:00 The NFL has reduced the preseason, taking away two of the games for this summer.
00:06 For more on that, I'm joined by the fantasy exec, Corey Parson and Ben Pickman.
00:11 Now guys, obviously the preseason, not the most important part of the NFL calendar.
00:16 This year, clearly there are extenuating circumstances, but should they just scrap the preseason altogether?
00:21 Ben, let's start with you.
00:23 No, I don't think they should scrap it altogether.
00:26 I mean, the preseason gives an opportunity to a number of undrafted players and late
00:30 round picks that might otherwise not get that chance to make an NFL roster and live out
00:35 their dreams.
00:36 And so you're providing a number of job opportunities for a number of players who wouldn't get them.
00:39 But one other main reason they shouldn't scrap it is because of injury concerns.
00:43 And I hear the complaints that some star players or you're putting starters potentially at
00:47 an injury risk by playing it altogether.
00:49 But if you were to scrap those four games altogether, then I think you're putting more
00:53 players at risk.
00:54 And when the regular season starts, you're going from zero to 100, ramping up too quickly.
00:57 And so there is some value in playing some exhibition games to kind of warm up prior
01:02 to the regular season.
01:03 Yeah, I mean, Corey, Ben makes valid points there, right?
01:07 And those are the points that you hear all the time.
01:09 So is there some happy medium somewhere?
01:13 You know, Rob, what I would say is this.
01:14 I think you don't need four preseason games.
01:16 I think two preseason games is a pretty good one.
01:19 We all know that the week three of the preseason is, you know, the dress rehearsal week where
01:24 you kind of get things set up.
01:25 Now, there's a number of different things that you look at when you discuss this.
01:29 Number one, fans.
01:30 A lot of fans don't get to go to games in the regular season.
01:32 So it's a good chance where you get out there to take a little bit cheaper and you get to
01:36 enjoy the NFL experience that way.
01:38 Not to mention the fact that people like myself who's in the fantasy industry, we need to
01:42 see these players on the field.
01:43 We need to see position battles and what's going on.
01:45 So I think the preseason does serve some purpose.
01:47 So I'm not going to say totally scrap the preseason altogether, but maybe take it down
01:51 to one or two games.
01:53 Yeah, and we don't expect to see fans this preseason, of course.
01:57 But when the preseason does continue, those ticket prices need to go way down for the
02:02 fans.
02:03 Yes.
02:04 Corey, Ben, appreciate your time as always.
