00:00 I say that your life played out to me kind of like a movie.
00:05 You're the one that lived that life.
00:06 What would you say in terms of a broad sense of how it has all unfolded?
00:12 Yeah, it's kind of been my own version of a movie.
00:15 I feel like we all kind of live that, but mine has been definitely a journey from a
00:20 small town to a giant city.
00:22 It kind of started in Colorado.
00:24 I used to build fence for a living back in the day, kind of where my work ethic started.
00:29 Western came to me and they're like, "Hey, we want you to play running back."
00:43 And from then on, that was a wrap.
00:49 The support around the college was there, but it was just very limited.
00:53 The town itself, I think, was like 4,000.
00:56 I think that was including the students.
00:58 When there was 1,000, they were like, "Dang, we got a good crowd here today."
01:02 So definitely playing for each other and for the love of the game.
01:05 So even though we didn't have the most fans, it was just a beautiful place to just be able
01:09 to play.
01:10 But I came in as a freshman and started, and then started all four years.
01:17 I couldn't have a pro day at Western because, like I said, we were in the mountains.
01:22 And so during the pro day season, the field's covered in about a foot of snow.
01:27 I was at CU's pro day, and then after CU went, ran and jumped, and then they cut 15 of us
01:33 down to two.
01:34 So it was just a chance for me to show, "Hey, my numbers are just as good as any of these
01:38 other running backs."
01:39 So I always looked at my season as being like, "Hey, I'm starting in the role that I've created
01:46 for myself."
01:47 So I never saw myself as a backup.
01:49 And then I went to my running back coach as well, and I told him, I told him I was making
01:53 the team.
01:54 I said, "I'm making this team."
01:55 And then going into the season, I was anticipating, you know, Melvin being there and me having
01:58 kind of a split between special teams and offense.
02:03 And then, you know, came back and then did my thing and proved my worth to the team and
02:06 showed that, "Hey, I can actually play at this level and actually have a little bit
02:09 of productivity."
02:11 It's funny because just last year, during the end of the season, I remember Coach Lynn
02:15 saying, "Hey, you're going to cost me a little bit more next year, aren't you?"
02:20 And now I'm sitting here looking like I'm going to be the starter going through this
02:23 year.
