Tom Brady Decides to Leave Patriots, but Whats Next?

Tom Brady will not return to the Patriots in 2020, ending a two-decade run with the team.

00:00Tom Brady announced on Instagram he will be leaving the New England Patriots.

00:04For more, I'm joined by the MMQB's Conor Orr.

00:07Conor, he's been linked to the Bucs and the Chargers reportedly,

00:11but Brady still is a 42-year-old quarterback.

00:14What's the ideal scenario for him right now?

00:17Well, I mean, if he can get on the same page with someone like Bruce Arians,

00:21I mean, Tampa Bay makes the most sense to me, and here's why.

00:24They have arguably one of the three best receivers in the league

00:28and Mike Evans, they have Chris Godwin, they have two good tight ends

00:31and a workable offensive line.

00:33Plus, Bruce Arians has worked with everybody from Peyton Manning

00:36to Ben Roethlisberger to Carson Palmer.

00:39He knows how to handle veteran quarterbacks at the end of his career.

00:42He knows how to adapt his system for people exactly like Tom Brady,

00:46and while Tom Brady is unique, that's a pretty good path

00:49and precedent for him to follow.

00:51And I think that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a good position

00:54to contend in their division right now.

00:56There's not a lot of uncertainty, and they can come in

00:59and win some games right away.

01:01The Chargers, I think, are a less logical destination to me,

01:04even though L.A. is the right spot.

01:07I mean, Tom Brady's got his film production deal kind of starting up

01:10out there.

01:11However, I don't know if they have necessarily all the pieces in place

01:15that Tampa Bay does to make this work as fluidly.

01:18So you're saying maybe Tampa's the better football fit,

01:21but L.A. the better lifestyle fit?

01:23Yeah, I mean, certainly.

01:25And listen, I mean, if you're Tom Brady, you're 42 years old,

01:28you've sacrificed your entire career to make life better.

01:33You've taken less money to make life better for the Patriots.

01:36So he's going to enjoy this process, and he might end up making

01:39a lifestyle decision.

01:40Who knows?
