00:00As expected, Joe Burrow, championship quarterback out of LSU, the first overall pick in the first virtual draft.
00:09For more, I'm joined by the MMQB's Albert Breer and our Bengals reporter James Rapine.
00:14Albert, let's start with you. What do you expect to be the instant impact of Burrow in the NFL?
00:19Well, I think he certainly just changes the dynamic in Cincinnati.
00:23And actually, you know, you see the guy now who's going to be connected to Zach Taylor,
00:28sink or swim, this is your quarterback.
00:30And really, this has been the way that it was expected to go from the beginning.
00:34Going back to January, the Bengals were very much focused on Joe Burrow.
00:38They actually tried to get him to come to the Senior Bowl.
00:40They really considered four players here.
00:43It was Joe Burrow, Tua Tungvaloa, Justin Herbert, and Chase Young.
00:49But make no mistake about it, I mean, this was from the start.
00:52Joe Burrow coming into the NFL, he comes from an NFL-style offense,
00:56having played in the same sort of offense the New Orleans Saints play
00:59under offensive coordinator or pass game coordinator Joe Brady at LSU.
01:04And I just texted with Zach Taylor, told me that he didn't want to go through the process.
01:07So this decision wasn't made in January.
01:10But over the last couple of weeks, it became very, very clear.
01:13They were maxing out all of their time over the Zoom with Joe Burrow, three hours a week.
01:19And really, their plan had been all along for Joe Burrow to be able to hit the ground running
01:23when he became a Bengal, which has now happened.
01:25Now, James, obviously Andy Dalton was a solid quarterback,
01:28but does Burrow just inject a new energy to the franchise?
01:33There's no doubt about it, Robin.
01:35I think he injects a new energy and gives them hope,
01:39gives the fan base hope after four straight losing seasons.
01:43They haven't won a playoff game since January 6, 1991.
01:47So they're looking for hope.
01:49And a guy like Joe Burrow who did what he did at LSU last year,
01:5360 touchdown passes, 5,600-plus yards in a national championship,
01:58he's a guy that has injected life into an organization that certainly needs it.
02:03And I think he's going to really help that roster from a leadership standpoint.
02:07We talk about it factor all the time with these prospects.
02:10I truly believe that Joe Burrow has that and can really help that team
02:15and that culture in Cincinnati flip the script from what they've been
02:19over the past couple of years, which is a losing team.
02:22There you go, Joe Burrow from LSU to Cincinnati, the Tiger King indeed.
